Hi! I made a speedrun with a friend. Now my question. Is it illegal to upload it to my internet page?

No. What game is it? How did you make it, and tell us what is interesting about your run (i.e. why should I download and watch it.. convince me it's good!)

No I don't think it's illegal, unless you're distributing the game with it (and the game license prohibits distribution).

*mandatory clarity response* Do you meean a speedrun using an emulator? Not that it matters, but there should be no doubt in your mind if it is a recording of you on a console.

Are you going to upload the emulator's record file (the file which the emulator creates and which contains basically nothing but keypresses) or a video file of the movie (avi or whatever)? In theory the music of videogames is usually copyrighted and in most countries it is, at least technically, illegal to distribute copyrighted music without the copyright's owner permission. This may be relevant if you are going to upload a video file of the run with sounds. In practice, however, I don't think the makers of the game care.

[LOL]Are button-presses copyright'd?[/LOL] ^_^ I think you can still just upload the emulated movie file rather than a streaming video file, so you can let someone else face the consenquences for illegal use. :3

Nintendo says "no problem" and since most of these cartridges are licensed by Nintendo, I don't see any problem with distributing streaming video files with sound. But *DON'T* distribute the ROMs, or let anybody know where they can find them. That's just asking for trouble. [Edited by Bisqwit: Please don't write part of the message only in the subject.]

I belive the only legalitys you may violate are those with roms themselves which we all know cause we have skimmed through them on rom sites (NO NAMES GIVIN )
