To the team who is working on the 100% run: in case you haven't progressed much, there isn't really that much left until bizhawk releases a new version which will support N64. It supports the latest version of Mupen64plus. As far as I am concerned, all that there is left to do is finishing the work with the plugin. This information is available at their googlecode website.

Uh nice. Let's hope it will work well with MM. I would love to see a new TAS with all the new discoveries. Where exactly did you get that info though?

can anyone explain to me the benefits of this "new" emulator? are they developing the old mupen code further or just integrating it into their platform? how is it a milestone?

The emulator getting integrated into BizHawk is Mupen64plus, which is an improved version of Mupen64 that fixes many bugs in the original Mupen, so the new BizHawk core is going to be better than current Mupen64-rr, though I cannot speak for how much improvements are related to syncability since I don't TAS N64 games. Someone else can probably fill you in on that though.

It's just integration, nothing ground breaking, I do think a fix was done for a few RARE game and such, but nothing that will revolutionize TASing n64 games other then the fact that bizhawk's platform is much more friendly to tasing in general.

So I just saw the world record speedrun (non-tool assist) for this game. It is set this month and here it is for those who haven't, but wants to see it: http://www.twitch.tv/nedeahs/c/2535039 What is the differences between that and a TAS-route? I guess a TAS would skip the guy who stops u from going to the deku tree?

I thought Pydoyks/Shayden (sp?) had the new record but I might be mistaken. In a TAS you'd skip Mido, yes. Not sure if you'd have to target Zelda for the HISS into the void. If not you'd do the HISS at the top of the tower escape (unbuffered, obviously). Not much else would be different AFAIK. The route would be identical to the previous TAS up to the Deku Tree.

it says pydoyks on http://zeldawiki.org/Speed_Run But the link there takes you to the run I pasted in my previous post

oh whoops I just realized "nedeahs" is Shaeden spelled backwards, carry on. I've watched him stream a couple times and never once put that together. http://zeldaspeedruns.com/leaderboards/oot/any is usually pretty up to date about this.

no. It is not up to date sorry. The record on that site is 3 days older and 2 seconds slower than the one I pasted

Pydoyks doesn't want to add his times to the ZSR leaderboards, so it isn't up to date with all its records. I try to have the Zeldawiki updated at least, though I haven't updated it recently so there might be some records that have been improved.

Yeah skipping Mido is basically the only difference at this point. There is actually not that much to redo from the previous TAS, but I don't think Grunz wants to, at the moment, and everybody else would have to start from scratch. So yeah...

So how much, if any, have N64 emulators improved? Is a 100% TAS even feasible at this point? Sorry for the question but I lost track of this thread a while back.

What is Grunz up to atm? I always imagine him being busy as the lead programmer of microsoft or something

Yeah, that comes pretty close to what I do when I don't feel like TASing. Bloob and I are working on the run at the moment. As we are trying to do a real frame war, the progress is rather slow.

Are you working on the 100% on a "get-the-sword-kill-Ganon-in-30-sec" run? x)

That is awesome news indeed! I wish you both the best of luck in shaving those frames off.

new non-tool assisted world record yesterday by Cosmo. Link for those who wants to see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?&v=D3HT0--ieUY EDIT: interestingly he notes that he is using the chinese version, and that this is faster than the japanse one due to no lag. This shouldn't be a factor for us as the chinese version isn't emulated.

Not sure what the relevance of this is. Shaeden's record is still better executed. The iQue version saves enough time to have a worse run be techincally faster, as Cosmo openly admits. It saves about 13 seconds over VC. http://zeldaspeedruns.com/leaderboards/oot Shaeden's MST and ZFG's 100% are great to watch also.

Any update on this? Has any frames been saved and have you gotten to the cucco collecting part yet? I am really looking forward to the new run and I am sort of hoping for a sneak peak at a WIP. If my expectations are too high it's only because I'm psyched about the project!

Well I think I can say that it's still actively being worked on and that it's looking really fucking good. :) How far they are along, I wouldn't want to say. They'll take the time they need to make it perfect.
