Conceptual art, sometimes simply called Conceptualism, is art in which the concept(s) or idea(s) involved in the work take precedence over traditional aesthetic and material concerns.
Sol LeWitt wrote:
In conceptual art the idea or concept is the most important aspect of the work. When an artist uses a conceptual form of art, it means that all of the planning and decisions are made beforehand and the execution is a perfunctory affair. The idea becomes a machine that makes the art.
This is relevant especially when talking about multi-game runs or runs that lack audiovisual entertainment. If you find a TAS unpleasant to watch, try to see beyond the video and appreciate it as conceptual art or Conceptually Re-recorded Art Play (aka. CRAP).

Yes.
I make a comic with no image files and you should read it. While there is a lower class, I am in it, and while there is a criminal element I am of it, and while there is a soul in prison, I am not free. -Eugene Debs

Maybe.
Warning: When making decisions, I try to collect as much data as possible before actually deciding. I try to abstract away and see the principles behind real world events and people's opinions. I try to generalize them and turn into something clear and reusable. I hate depending on unpredictable and having to make lottery guesses. Any problem can be solved by systems thinking and acting.

Is conceptual art a tool-assisted speedrun?
A hundred years from now, they will gaze upon my work and marvel at my skills but never know my name. And that will be good enough for me.

Consider a tool-assisted speedrun a story. At the beginning, they may not look like much. But when you look deeper into them. And find the real reason within. You have found something that is quite amazing.

For some TAS's, it can be described similar to a quote from here:

Finally got around to watching this. It's really poetry in motion. I don't know the game horribly well, but some solutions still felt fairly fresh. I especially liked Courses 6 and 8, as well as Extra 8 (I was also fond of the strategies where taking damage actually helped make Kirby faster). It was also cool to see a different strategy for the final fight. Yes vote.
Unless of course, it's Front Line, which in that case, I feel sorry for the poor sucker who saw that as their first exposure to TAS's.

Off topic, but where did this "I agree with X" in code tags custom originate from?

Further off topic, what the hell happened to Deign? On-topic: I agree that TASes are a form of conceptual art insofar as they take something and do unexpected things with it. But your acronym is silly and ineffectual.

The argument of Bimmy vs Billy. A great moment in tasvideos history. Bimmy If you can find older references feel free to show me that I'm wrong. (omg there's even a HiddenGamer reference in that topic <3)

1) I find Front Line to be particularly suited to be contextualized as art; you could infer a subtext of futility in life; no matter how well you optimize it, it's a slow yet brief repetitive plod until the end. 2) Can you view forum threads as conceptual art? 3)
I agree with Fabian
as well
