Aqfaq's Comments

As you can see, the main improvement is using a trick to go through walls. It requires four steps (grab wall, shoot web, jump, shoot web), so no wonder it went unnoticed. It does not work in every place, though.
I had to redo some of the bossfights and managed to improve them. There is still room for additional improvements, but I don't know how to optimize the web swinging, so I'll submit this now. It may take years before anyone else contributes to the obliteration of this game, so why not update the publication while waiting.
I want to keep mmbossman as a co-author, because parts of the run use his input. I hope it is OK.

CONGRULATIONS TASVIDEOS! ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED: THE CURSE OF ANOOBIS!

DarkKobold: Claimed.

DarkKobold: The curse of Anoobis is successful! Movie accepted as improvement to the published run.
sgrunt: To be published once I have an off-archive.org streaming encode to publish it with.

Uh, this TAS missed at least one instance of going through a wall, early in level 2. It would save 10-15 seconds. The trick is also performed inferiorly in some places by using an unneeded parkour animation while exiting the wall. Together with better web swing speed control, sub 6 minutes should be possible here. Voting meh.

:-D I have a new computer to do TASes on, so I might try that!

Bud, why won't you edit the publication since it's verified? Takes a few seconds really.
Warning: When making decisions, I try to collect as much data as possible before actually deciding. I try to abstract away and see the principles behind real world events and people's opinions. I try to generalize them and turn into something clear and reusable. I hate depending on unpredictable and having to make lottery guesses. Any problem can be solved by systems thinking and acting.

How do we know this isn't a symptom of some bugs in the emulator that, maybe, the run itself is (inadvertedly) exploiting to get a faster time than should be possible?

This is brilliant. Thanks a lot, notaz! I feel relieved to know that the crazy TAS stuff works on the real machine. I like how the title screen text is partially off-screen because the button is pressed too soon. This kind of buggy behavior made me often feel that they don't think it be like it is, but it do.

I can do it if you want, but I'll still wait a bit to see if anyone spots some problem or mistake.
