At least there are two clear things now: 1. Most people seem to get very defensive when someone just asks if the community could be dying. 2. There seems to be a higher percentage of people with low IQ. That includes the moderators, unfortunately.
You're just fucking stupid, everyone hates you, sorry to tell you the truth. no one likes you, you're someone pretentious and TASes only to be on speed game, but don't have any hope, you won't get there.

shh... let it happen
"Genuine self-esteem, however, consists not of causeless feelings, but of certain knowledge about yourself. It rests on the conviction that you — by your choices, effort and actions — have made yourself into the kind of person able to deal with reality. It is the conviction — based on the evidence of your own volitional functioning — that you are fundamentally able to succeed in life and, therefore, are deserving of that success." - Onkar Ghate

I don't know about you guys, but I thought the TAS community was dying on September 13, 2013 (also known as, "The Empty Queue Incident.") But, yeah, I do feel that the community has been quietening down a little, especially on the forum side: about a year ago, I was reading the forum every morning. Nowadays, though, I only visit about twice a week because I feel as though fewer posts are being made.

I think worrying about this place dying is pretty silly. There's always going to be some interest in TASing, even if we all become a bunch of skeletons. I mean, shoot, look at friggin Earthbound. 20 years later, and people are still talking about it. They're even making a fan version of Mother 4.
effort on the first draft means less effort on any draft thereafter - some loser

Ok fine I guess it is not dying. I guess I don't see as much discussion about tasing outside of here because everyone knows what it is by now. Also it seems like more work is being put into improving existing runs than creating new runs.

Actually, looking at the front page right now, 12 out of 20 new publications on there do not obsolete/improve on any run. As I stated last page, we have ~120 "first edition" runs (runs of new games) per year out of ~250 publications per year total. That's a little less than half, but also note that that doesn't include e.g. new branches. It's perhaps not a big difference, but don't underestimate the output of runs for new games or fresh categories.

The vault has enabled a lot more content to be suitable to TASing(by not getting rejected for not being entertaining) so we've a broader list of target games to TAS.Hence the 12 out of 20 publications.
I want all good TAS inside TASvideos, it's my motto. TAS i'm interested: Megaman series, specially the RPGs! Where is the mmbn1 all chips TAS we deserve? Where is the Command Mission TAS? i'm slowly moving away from TASing fighting games for speed, maybe it's time to start finding some entertainment value in TASing.

It's 6/10 for both Moons/Stars and Vault right now.

Another bias is that most people had more free time in the past than right now - as you get a job, study harder, etc. you have less time to watch and make TASes.
