So, I'm planning on doing a full TAS of Densetsu no Stafy 2 which has NewGame+ after you beat the game. I specifically want to run the NewGame+ mode because it increases the difficulty and you start with all the abilities you have learned by the end of the game. It adds a ton of bonus levels for each world and the "vehicles" in the game get upgraded to make autoscrolling sections more interesting. Some levels can be done in less then 30 seconds and overall it just makes for a more entertaining run. The only thing that gets carried over is your pearl count which is used to buy clothing that changes Stafy's look on the pause menu. Now the question is, can a run like this be accepted? The movie can start from a power on because after the credits you get sent back to the title screen. Your file gets converted to NG+ and when opening it you're sent back to World 1 with all the levels being uncompleted. I'd really like to do a run of this but does anyone know if this follows the site's rules? Thanks! :)

Why not read for yourself or to be more specific:
However, there are certain games with unlockable modes, second quests, or other things of interest that can only be accessed if a save file (or an otherwise "dirty" SRAM) is present. If you really wish to submit a movie made on such a mode, you will need a verification movie made and provided alongside it. [...] In any case, ensure a run of your unlocked mode provides meaningful content over a fresh game.
I don't know the game but it apparently "adds a ton of bonus levels" and makes the game more interesting. If you think that this is enough meaningful content over a fresh game then go ahead and do it! (hint: entertaining movies are usually received very well)
Warning: Might glitch to credits I will finish this ACE soon as possible (or will I?)

If you make a verification movie that unlocks NewGame+ and then you make a TAS that starts from after that verification movie and beats NewGame+, you can submit that. If you think it will be entertaining enough for moons, then it will be accepted.

Alright! :) Thanks guys. Just a quick question: Does a verification movie have to start from a power on? Or can it start at the beginning of the final boss fight?

From power on. But it doesn't have to be optimized. Try not to make it extremely long, though ^^ (avoid losing lives and stuff like that, for example, easy with TAS tools, even in real time).

Basically the verification movie is just there to make certain that your starting point was achieved without using any cheat codes or utilities (like a Game Genie). It doesn't have to be optimal at all. I think the New Game+ TAS of Chrono Trigger had a verification move that was over 24 hours long because it used a script to grind all of the characters up to level 99.

Densetsu no Stafy has a TAS, Densetsu no Stafy 2 doesn't.

Ok, thanks for all the info guys! I've started working on my verification movie and I'm almost completed the game already. Can't wait to start work on the actual TAS.
