Lately, every day I've come to the tasvideos forum, I've been logged out. Logging is no problem. But the problem is that being logged out and logged in again clears the 'new posts since your last visit' list that I use to keep up with what's going on in the forum. Without this information, I have to open EVERY board in a new tab and scan for new posts. Is there a way to see the most recent posts even if you have been logged out in the mean time? Thx

As far as I understand, the forum library being used here is really old and full of defects and shortcomings, but it has been so much modified by the site developers (starting with Bisqwit and then his successors) that it would be a nightmare to try to upgrade to a more recent, better version. As for your particular problem, have you tried removing the tasvideos.org cookies from your browser (so that it will get a set of fresh ones)? I think at least some such problems can be fixed that way (although I can't know if this is one such case).

I experience no such problems. It is important, that on login you check the box below the credentials form. Try the following: Login (with box checked), close the browser (remember to close all browser windows), start a new browser window and look for the phpbb2mysql_data cookie (for the tasvideos.org domain, ignore the phpbb2mysql_sid one). If it's still there you should be able to visit the forums page and be logged in automatically again. If you paste the content of that cookie e.g. at http://www.url-encode-decode.com/ and click decode, it should be of the following form:
a:2:{s:11:"autologinid";s:32:"32_characters_long_string";s:6:"userid";i:some_integer;}
and not
a:2:{s:11:"autologinid";s:0:"";s:6:"userid";i:-1;}
All syllogisms have three parts, therefore this is not a syllogism.

I also, very frequently, have this issue.

This is probably a dumb question, but are you running CCleaner or anything else that erases browser history? I've had experiences where I'd set something like that up to run automatically, then promptly forget I set it that way and wonder why I'm being logged out at midnight every Wednesday and Saturday. Either way, it seems like an odd issue, especially if it doesn't always happen.

I don’t remember it ever happening to me. My cookies seem unaltered as well.

This happens across my all computers running several different operating systems and web browsers. I truly doubt it's a configuration issue on my end.

I have the same problem. It doesn't seem to be that you're not logged in when you load the forum, but rather that you're instantly logged out (after all, it does manage to change your post reading history first).

Would it really end up being that much of a hassle to upgrade to a better version? (I admittedly know next to nothing about website development and whatnot.)

The newest version of phpBB even keeps a thread's "first unread post" updated per page views, so if you are on the second-to-last page and leave the thread, it'll still indicate that there are unread posts on the last page.

It happens to me about half the time I come to these forums. I wouldn't mind if it didn't reset the new posts.

I'm getting a little pissed off by this. Everyday my account is logged out. It used to happen only after some months... :(
