There is a lesser-known checking/repair program in newer Windows's named sfc (system file checker), which you can try to run (by running the command "sfc /scannow"). It might or might not fix your problem, but it doesn't hurt to try. More information here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/929833
"Windows Resources Protection did not find any integrity violations." Oh well, thanks for trying. :P
Spyro 2 or Spyro 3?
Neither, never played any of them. :P

A question for Aqfaq or Aglar or MUGG or adelikat or Cardboard or Lord Tom or… How does it feel to be an expert player? Kind of “like a boss” I guess? Or nothing special?

I haven't played those two, but from what I remember reading and hearing from fans when the (awesome) TAS came out, Spyro 3 was a lot better than 2; the devs really went out with a bang for the original Spyro trilogy. EgixBacon might be able to give you a firsthand opinion, if he reads this topic.

Nothing special. I'm an "expert" mostly because I TAS rare games that nobody tries to beat. My TASing abilities have not developed significantly since 2009. I don't TAS much these days, but when I do, there's a chance I have forgotten something and make noob mistakes. The Zen-like focus seems to deteriorate quickly, when taking a break from TASing. I am like Yoda without the Force. Today there are many noobs who are much better than I ever was.

Why does this keep happening? I googled for this, but it keeps showing cases where it's after a windows update. Has anyone experienced something like this, where even after you click "Try these repairs as an administrator" it comes back soon afterwards WITHOUT an update?
hi, i had a similar error while dealing with my own VPN you can try to adapt this solution to solve your problem : http://oyam.ca/blog/2011/11/windows-miniports/ warning : if you don't fully understand the solution concept, it would be better to not try as it can screw your network layer pretty pretty bad....

Aqfaq, you give yourself too little credit. :)

Oh, thank you Nécroyeur. I've heard it's a Finnish thing to give yourself too little credit. Let me try again: The best need no credit. I am the best. Therefore, I need no credit.

Can anyone help me record my videos in hd? I wanted to try to make my videos to meet the current youtube standard however my current video conversion programs aren't gonna cut it. I use Format Factory, Leawo (Free) and Any Video Converter for video conversion but what can I do to make my videos look better?

My question tried to be clever by introducing negative numbers but it's really meaningless.

If your videos are .avi, you can try to use virtualdub. Drag & drop your video onto virtualdub. Video > Filters and Add "resize". Set to 200% or 300% and Nearest neighbor method or another method of your choosing. Video > Compression, select how your video should be compressed. For lack of something better, I'm using Xvid MPEG-4* with highest quality. * you need to install that codec first. If your videos are .mp4, .flv, mkv, etc. then it gets difficult... Instead of compressing with virtualdub, you can use x264 to create really good quality videos at really small filesizes, but it's kind of difficult to explain for me. I usually end up using a combination of avisynth (a scripting language for video editing), virtualdub, x264 (to compress videos into .mp4 files), a converter to convert the video into wav format, mkvmerge (to merge wav and mp4).

So video converters are useless in that regard? So much for using converters. What are good settings for High Def if you use a video converter?

All you need is a high bitrate, if by "good" settings you mean settings which create a good video quality. But youtube also converts the videos you upload, so in order to get the best quality on youtube, your video has to have a high resolution (even though old video games often run at very low resolutions). If the game footage runs at 60 FPS (like most 2D games), make sure the converter keeps it at 60 FPS.

This Sokoban clone/editor has a solver and optimizer which were used for the Sokoban DS TAS. It says the solver is designed for small levels, but it may still help out.
http://www.youtube.com/Noxxa <dwangoAC> This is a TAS (...). Not suitable for all audiences. May cause undesirable side-effects. May contain emulator abuse. Emulator may be abusive. This product contains glitches known to the state of California to cause egg defects. <Masterjun> I'm just a guy arranging bits in a sequence which could potentially amuse other people looking at these bits <adelikat> In Oregon Trail, I sacrificed my own family to save time. In Star trek, I killed helpless comrades in escape pods to save time. Here, I kill my allies to save time. I think I need help.

Looks neat. But the funny thing is, I tried that on the first level of GB Soukoban (aka. Boxxle), and I think I have found a faster way by 2 steps than the software (edit: I confirmed it). It's a bit difficult to describe, but if you want, I will make some video about it. When I clicked on the solve button, it showed a result immediately. I expected it would compute for a while before showing results. Maybe I need to look at the settings more? What is the "optimizer" anyway? Edit: Looks like if I turn off the "small optimizations", it comes up with my solution. Funny

Is it possible to do sub-frame TASes of GBA games? Because I just remembered Mario & Luigi doesn't have savegame checksum protection (at least not as far as I tested) and there is an address within each savegame that can send you to the credits upon loading if it has a certain value. Some info here. (I do not know if the game has some other kind of protection though...)

As far as I remember, solving sokoban is a NP-hard problem, meaning it is really difficult to determine the minimum number of steps in the general case. Just my 2c

I would start with the 3GP format at the size of your screen in landscape mode - 854 x 480 pixels. I've found the 3GP format to be quite compatible with Palm and Android phones, and smaller video is easier for devices to process. If that works, you can try MP4 videos in bigger sizes like 720p or 1080p – your phone has a quad-core processor so it should be able to handle those too.

I intend to replay on Pokemon Pearl, Diamond and Platinum on my PC. Despite this however I know that some Pokemon can only be traded, evolve with special stones, etc. and you cannot get some legendary Pokemon normally. I have the DS version of Pearl at my house but I am limited to what I can do because the previous Generations have no wireless support. What should I do? Should I resort to other means to get Pokemon, items, events, etc?

are there no DS emulators to simulate trades?you could use pokesav between your own games to transfer the poke "without cheating",it's technically cheating but you're only giving yourself what you should be able to do.
I want all good TAS inside TASvideos, it's my motto. TAS i'm interested: Megaman series, specially the RPGs! Where is the mmbn1 all chips TAS we deserve? Where is the Command Mission TAS? i'm slowly moving away from TASing fighting games for speed, maybe it's time to start finding some entertainment value in TASing.

Maybe you can edit RAM addresses to get pokemon and items? But if you want to do it in a run / playthrough, I don't know.
