Nothing more to see unfortunatly, still working on fixing my mistake. I'm back to the aliens and saved about 20 seconds. Lots of work remaining until the end of cycle 2 and something really new. Be patient :)

Fox found a new way to get a lot of speed in a superswim using bonks as zora. This technique is actually a really fast speed (faster than superslides) and will be used in the TAS. New MM TAS tech even in 2016 ;) Link to video For anyone that's interested in the progress of the any% TAS, Fox has been streaming most of his progress on twitch at http://www.twitch.tv/thewayfaringfox

Hello everyone, Just a small update. I've finally fixed my mistake so here Cycle 1 & 2 from one single .bk2 file :) (As I mentionned in the description, I saved 50 seconds compared to the previous version). Hope you'll enjoy it. Link to video PS: I remark that the sound has a small delay, something went wrong when I encoded it probably, sorry for this...

Awesome WIP so far, Hâthor! One question though: Why is the inverted song of time played a second time? (at 1:29:18 in the encode)

The particular timing of the reversion was that he needed to get the ocarina/drums out at that point anyway, so it's just one additional song. It was also 3:34 AM when time sped back up, so Kafei doesn't make it back to the room for another 56 minutes. Doing everything else at the same speed, Link would have arrived there too early by keeping the flow of time slow.

Ah yes, I forgot about Kafei. There are so many things to track.

@Pokota: here you are @GlitchAndStuff: I love the Goron Race ! :D @dunnius: Mr. Pwnage is right. I'll just add something: I play the inverted song of time at this particular place because, for odd reason, you can play the ocarina almost immediatly after you press the button. I can't really explain why but it's probably because of the gossip stones. It saves only few frames but there are no small gain :)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't turboing A while sidehopping leak frames here and there?

I would like to see a 4K encode of a complete 100% TAS of this game.

I made some tests long time ago and I didn't see any difference. Lags due to explosion (while hovering for example) brings me many more problems. @PikachuMan: I think we could also encode a 3D version when it will be finished.

Yes as turbo is alternating between one frame pressing and one frame not pressing. It might be that it doesn't press A on the first frame that it would be possible, but on the second. So over time you can bleed quite a few frames. Plus it's really not necessary. After a while you know on which frame to press A from a visual cue.

As MM runs with 3 Input frames per visual frame, turboing indeed works. You'll always press A either on the 2nd or 3rd input frame of the visual frame, so there really is no problem. But Slowi is right, looking for visual cues or carefully watching MHS until the speed of the Sidehop drops by 1 unit is way more efficient.

Does MM take inputs on those other frames? I thought it didn't. Guess I forgot, since the little bit I tased was quite a while ago.

If we're to do a TAS of the Japanese version, better do the one on the GameCube, although resetting on GameCube takes a lot longer than the N64, but the Flying Zora glitch makes up for it. Not resetting is slower than resetting on the N64, but faster than resetting on the GameCube. West Clock Town at night lags on the GameCube version for some reason. We can't simply hack the game by using cheats of debugging features, 'cause that's breaking the rules.

Or just TAS it on the original version. Like what.

Yeah, the US N64 is the fastest, hands down. We're still waiting for a 3DS emulator with TAS capabilities.

You could always start writing a 3DS emulator.
I am still the wizard that did it. "On my business card, I am a corporate president. In my mind, I am a game developer. But in my heart, I am a gamer." -- Satoru Iwata <scrimpy> at least I now know where every map, energy and save room in this game is

What? TASers are using the japanese version because of version specific glitches that are patched in the japanese GC version. Flying Zora isn't even usefull anymore. If there were no glitch differences, TASers would probably use the english version, as text difference in MM is negligible.

There's a new cutscene skip: Link to video Unfortunately, the route in the current 100% WIP can't use it.
Current project: Gex 3 any% Paused: Gex 64 any% There are no N64 emulators. Just SM64 emulators with hacky support for all the other games.

it uses 0 day glitch,so they're having trouble finding a place where it can save time, because it's a very limited glitch
TAS i'm interested: Megaman series, specially the RPGs! Where is the mmbn1 all chips TAS we deserve? Where is the Command Mission TAS? i'm slowly moving away from TASing fighting games for speed, maybe it's time to start finding some entertainment value in TASing.

So I've spent the last few nights trying to learn more about this glitch. There is a flag that is set [English: (* 0x8040081F)&8 ] is set when entering 1st person shooting mode (arrow/hookshot/deku bubble). having that flag set while in goron mode causes goron missile. I've also confirmed that if you can get one of those items on goron b with weird b, it would still work. Since weird b is perserved through loading zones, it could be used in most catagories with goron just for fast movement and save time since it is faster than the 18 speed of a superslide or hess, and (1st video) a much faster lulliby skip and (2nd & 3rd vids) much faster alternate exit, and all explosive less. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OoxaN8TVRjI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=frRkvKxWXEM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rClCjzKcjVc
