http://www.youtube.com/Noxxa <dwangoAC> This is a TAS (...). Not suitable for all audiences. May cause undesirable side-effects. May contain emulator abuse. Emulator may be abusive. This product contains glitches known to the state of California to cause egg defects. <Masterjun> I'm just a guy arranging bits in a sequence which could potentially amuse other people looking at these bits <adelikat> In Oregon Trail, I sacrificed my own family to save time. In Star trek, I killed helpless comrades in escape pods to save time. Here, I kill my allies to save time. I think I need help.

Voting Dragon Warrior IV. Aria of Sorrow is impressive, but it required less luck manipulation overall by comparison.

Here, voted for Castlevania. My favourite TAS from this list is Mario Kart, but Castlevania went further in the luck aspect.

I'm not seeing how castlevania is luckier than Mario kart. Can someone explain?

RNG (Random Number Generator) - A system which determines the souldrops, itemdrops or enemy actions. Enemy actions in turn garble up the loot tables, so when bruteforcing a soul it is important to always have it act the same. There are a ton of ways to manipulate RNG, but the most common ones used in this run are: Swinging, backdashing (including small changes in backdash pattern), using the Kicker Skeleton soul, wobbling with the Black Panther and using Guardian souls.

yup, that. See also my posts on castlevania's item drop algorithm and soul drop algorithm - some of the soul drops and item drops have rather low probabilities (eg final sword has a 0.5% chance of dropping, ectoplasm soul has a 0.57% chance of dropping).
