We all know that Super Mario World has some fast runs, some super fast runs, and some disrespectfully fast runs.
Forget all that!

Glitched sound

In this run I show the fastest way (probably) to achieve an unusual glitch: consecutive enemies stomped ($7E1697) overflow, enabling an Easter egg sound, which was known already but apparently never shown. Worth noting that the glitched sound keeps playing indefintely (even during death animation) if you don't "replace" it with another sound effect that uses the same channel (for example the "Hurry up!" sound, shown swiping the glitchy sound in the end of the video).

Yoshi dismount glitch

This is a bad name for this unnamed glitch, but basically $7E1697 increments not only when you stomp an enemy but when you mount Yoshi. You can abuse this by mounting and dismounting him before landing on ground consecutively, for example, 7 times in a row and then stomping a Kooopa to get a free 1up. I used this glitch to quickly get 255 for $7E1697, by abusing that other glitch where you smash A when touching a solid ceiling with Mario's head, which basically kills your vertical momentum if done correctly . My previous strat used 4 Yoshis (3 invisible), with various slow dismounts.

2622 - brunovalads
2620 - BrunoVisnadi

Thanks

  • Kaizoman for not including this glitch in the list, and for suggesting this way better strat;
  • xHF01x for making a better run showing this new strat encouraging me to do even better;
  • BrunoVisnadi for joining in the framewar too.

Masterjun: Rejecting for destroying my right ear. Er, I mean, judging.
Masterjun: Good framewar, except I clearly won. Unfortunately, overflowing a byte value is considered very rude. Being rude is against our forum rules so I'm sorry to say that I can't accept this run.
Rejecting for abusing poor Yoshi to achieve your goal faster.

This was an entertaining run to watch, so I gave it a Yes vote. Too bad I didn't know it was unoptimised from the replies already in the forum.

Well my last attempt (in the encode in the submission page) is quite optimal, BrunoVisnadi just went 2 frames ahead with basically the same strat.
Games are basically math with a visual representation of this math, that's why I make the scripts, to re-see games as math. My things: YouTube, GitHub, Pastebin, Twitter
