New zip in Artic Abyss! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xx5nKIGjvcg Saves more than 10 seconds for the TAS! MOD EDIT: Moved this post and the two responses to it here from the DKC 1 thread. — moozooh

Impressive, but this is the donkey kong country thread and that is for DKC2. Or is it applicable to DKC 1 as well?

It's DKC2 only, nothing similar is doable in DKC. This has been discussed heavily in the Discord server for the RTA community.

Interesting... this is not a dkc1 thing because of the differences in goals. dkc1 has exit regions, as opposed to tangible exits. If a way was possible, Alyosha or Tompa would've found it with bird croc :) Also, there is a more technical reason, based on the way objects are ordered in the object map.
I didn't kill donkey, I saved it. Current projects: Misc Donkey hacks :) Past projects: Pacifist DKC1 DKC1 Entrance randomizer DKC2 Entrance randomizer DKDC (a troll hack of DKC1) DKC1 Enemy randomizer (among other things)

I caught this clip on a GladJonas video today... not sure it could save any time if you're limited by the barrel time limit, but I figured I'd post it. https://www.twitch.tv/snodeca/clip/TastyResilientEelBudBlast

This is interesting, what's the cause/conditions?
Games are basically math with a visual representation of this math, that's why I make the scripts, to re-see games as math. My things: YouTube, GitHub, Pastebin, Twitter

I haven't traced a single log in a while. I believe that if the invincibility timers is positive, the kongs can enter another barrel. Maybe more than 2 at once in a "single hurt".

The TAS does this already: Bramble Scramble & Slime Climb. Tem's even explaining in that clip that she learnt this speedtech from speedrunners and wanted to try it herself.

Donkey Kong Country 2 is getting a lot of love recently, and I'm trying to give a little too. I'm working on a few projects right now, trying to figure out what is what after the failed True Ending run... Anyway, here's Amaraticando's Boss Skip Trick against Kleever: Link to video

Lots of duct tape, but it reaches the True Ending a lot faster without the bosses: Link to video and the movie file: https://tasvideos.org/UserFiles/Info/638959514078550897 Edit: Going back to Mainbrace Mayhem to skip King Zing is faster. I'm trying the Funky Skip on an any% run just in case...

Just so you know, discussions are being made about the Funky Glitch, as well as the TASes you have posted, in the DKC speedrunning Discord. If you wish to take part of it, you can join here https://discord.gg/m6s2dQX Though in general: This code sure seems like it's broken in various ways! Cool stuff you have showcased so far. I personally don't think it should be allowed to be used in a regular "any%" run, but if so an "any% with cheat codes" type of category instead.

Thank you, Tompa. I'm testing the Funky Skip in the any% mostly to see if it's faster or more interesting than the True Ending. (I'm fighting Kreepy Krow right now, ~19 minutes into the run.) I agree with you, it would be really nice if we could use it at least in a playaround kind of run.

It failed to beat the False Ending, but at least it was fun: Link to video and the movie file: https://tasvideos.org/UserFiles/Info/638962140696129728

Since the game renewed attention recently, I found this video yesterday by coincidence: Link to video I remember hidaigai was working on the new 102% TAS back from 2017, and for my surprise I forgot completely that the author also posted the actual .bk2 movie on User Files four years later: https://tasvideos.org/UserFiles/Info/76543020681150738 The second boss also includes the new trick that Dooty used in the new "True Ending" run but hidaigai managed to use it twice.
My homepage --Currently not much motived for TASing as before...-- But I'm still working.
