Hah, I was reading through ctrl-alt-del today and came across this. Perhaps the earliest known input file format?
I make a comic with no image files and you should read it. While there is a lower class, I am in it, and while there is a criminal element I am of it, and while there is a soul in prison, I am not free. -Eugene Debs

OK, wow, I was reading dinosaur comics and read one relevant to this thread, except that I forgot that I was the one who started it and also that I had already linked to a comic. But anyway. It's still funny, to me.

As far as having savestates in real life crazyness goes, that could be "solved" by restoring everything but your age. So no matter how much you restore, your body is still going to break sometime.

Unless you find the RAM address for your own age and manually set it to a lower value! ;)

Why would the TASer be part of the run? When I make a TAS of the Mario universe, I've never asked the character Mario to decide anything :P Up until it was brought up, I had assumed some higher form was controlling... if not, then wouldn't slowdown and fast-forward be useless? Manipulating emulation speed won't influence the way Mario behaves... (e.g. slowdown would slow my thinking as well, and reaction time is simply the duration of some signals in my body) edit: Hmm that's actually interesting, would we have super-human reflex/reactions in a real life TAS?:D edit2: oh wait... of course we would.... we'd simply start an action before the character knew it was neccesary, just like one might fire a rocket before an enemy is visible... nvm :P

How long would it take a TASed human to get laid? (I thought of the following restrictions: has to be with consent, no drugs or tools allowed, no disabled people, no prostitutes - you are on the street and don't have a mobile phone, but then again you could always steal one in 3 seconds I guess). You would basicly luck manipulate the right girl to appear in front of you and then you would say the precisely right words. I wonder what those words would be... and how long it would take.

As Mugg revived the topic, I might as well post this: http://www.xamuel.com/tool-assisted-speedruns/ I found it to be quite interesting!

Nobody has even to this day made any comment about this movie, so I'm assuming nobody has actually checked it. Just check it. It's the most "TAS" movie I have seen. Even more than Groundhog Day. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0435705/

Run Lola Run. I suppose you could argue that it's more of a non-assisted speedrun, though.

I wonder how far you'd need to go to the past to set up all the needed factors to make her appear there in the first place. Because the world does not yet have a routine to appear random girls in front of you at all.
Warning: When making decisions, I try to collect as much data as possible before actually deciding. I try to abstract away and see the principles behind real world events and people's opinions. I try to generalize them and turn into something clear and reusable. I hate depending on unpredictable and having to make lottery guesses. Any problem can be solved by systems thinking and acting.

I was not thinking right in front of you looking you in the face. I was thinking girls that would be ready "to do it" nearby. So you could walk up to them and say the magic spell. It is a bit of a loose goal though, in retrospective. What counts as "disabled" and what doesn't. Maybe you could persuade a girl into doing it with you for money or you could make one believe you're someone else. There seem to be many loopholes with this category. Another category I was thinking about was how long it would take someone to kill the world population. What would that involve? Can the use of nuclear weapons be ordered or controlled via the internet? Maybe it involves somehow creating a virus. We could also discuss what is the fastest way of movement? Is it really running forward or maybe it is running backwards, or maybe forward on 4 limbs.

To make a good TAS we first need documentations about the glitches that were found.
Warning: Might glitch to credits I will finish this ACE soon as possible (or will I?)

There is a character named Contessa in the online superhero webfic called Worm that essentially has a TAS Power. Her ability is she sees the most efficient way to obtain a goal as a series of steps, and despite not really having any other powers, is probably the person you most don't want to go up against in the Wormverse.

Can't think of a better place to ask but I thought about this recently: What is the highest temperature humans can constantly survive living in? Could you survive 1°C higher? For how long? Assume you'd have to survive 10°C higher? How long could you survive that? Could you survive a) 1,000 b) 10,000 c) 1,000,000 °C if you'd have to endure it for a) 0.1 b) 1 c) 3 seconds? Could you possibly survive 1,000,000 °C if you'd have to endure it for only 0.0001 sec?
