Well, now that the Genesis got its own seperate board, why not have a topic listing any and all games that would make for an interesting watch? Swiping the stuff listed in the Other board and adding to it: Sonic series Streets of Rage series Vectorman 1 and 2 Contra Hard Corps. Castlevania Bloodlines (Using the spear dude, dangit~) Rocket Knight Adventures Shinobi 3 Ristar (Shame he walks so slow, huh?) Gunstar Heroes Rockman Megaworld (Are the NES glitches even present in this version?) Decap Attack Double Dragon series Golden Axe series (Once again - Kick a midget, get a potion!) Bubsy series (I never could get to the last boss) B.O.B Kid Chameleon (A no warp run, maybe?) Zero Wing (Had to add it.) Comix Zone Ultimate Qix (Pro mode~) Beyond Oasis The Haunting Starring Polterguy (Is that a naked person in level 3?!) Crusader of Centy (Seems fairly short and vaguely Zelda-ish) Virtual Bart Bart's Nightmare Dynamite Headdy Earthworm Jim 1 and 2 And maybe Moonwalker, I dunno. It'd have good music, in any case. Anyone care to lay claim to anything or add to it?

Flashback and Out of this world EDIT: Shadowrun (I would really like to see this, although it involves some leveling up and money collecting...)

I ditto Flashback, as there's a good walk-through-walls glitch in the Genesis version. I'm not sure if Kid Chameleon can be done without warps. I know there is (theoretically) a way to warp straight to the final boss from the second level, but I never could do it (it wouldn't be impressive, either). Effective use of the other warps would be very impressive, though. Castlevania: Bloodlines would probably be faster with the whip guy, but I agree, the spear guy is waaay cooler. Games that I think are must-do's and not on the list: Toejam & Earl 1 (perhaps with 2-players, as one can go straight for the ship piece while the other collects presents for later) Ecco the Dolphin Games I would like to see that are not on the list: Shadow of the Beast Alisia Dragoon Jurassic Park (Go raptor!) Wonder Boy in Monster Land Technoclash Taz-Mania Lost Vikings (Switching between vikings might get old) Games that I would like to see but might not be that impressive: Toejam & Earl 2 (Collecting humans == sloooow) Cadash (Might require leveling or DW syndrome) Greendog (Too slow except on skate/board levels) Landstalker (Might be too long) Ys III (Might require leveling) Puggsy (too long?) Krusty's Super Fun House (Waiting for rats == slooow)

I second the Lost Vikings games. I always sucked at those and would absolutely adore seeing a full playthrough for both. X.x *scowl* Finding these games is harder than I hoped. I HAD a site, but the files from it download to a temp directory and then auto-open...but the zip file is empty. No bloody clue why this happens, but it's painfully annoying. Now I get to wade through porn-laced no-name sites. ><

I might have a clue. Try the "Extract here" right-click option of WinRAR. I had the same problem with some roms that opened empty with integrated zip support of Winodws XP but not with WinRAR.

Nya... I dunno why the hell I still even HAVE Winzip. Nostalgia and packrat-ishness, I guess. ~.~ Alrighty, lemme fiddle around in WinRar and see if I can't get somethin' working right. To quote the immortal Heroboy... I MUST SUCCEED! </vague> Edit: Waha~! It worked. X.x Well, that's nice to know. Now I can get started on Decap Attack. ~.~v Thanks for the suggestion. Dunno why the hell I didn't think to use WinRar anyway... ><;

Why does everyone say Shinobi 3 and skip Revenge of Shinobi? That game was the reason I bought a Genesis!

here are a few games i'd like to see, not sure how fun to watch they would be though. wonder boy 5 - dragons trap. this would require lot of planning/skill as new armor/weps are always avaliable and usualy cost a LOT of money. toejam and earl - never could finish this. i remember it being quite hard kid chameleon - again never finished, but i remember it being damn awesome to play

I didn't know there was a wonder boy 5, let alone it being subtitled 'dragons trap'. Does it play like Wonder Boy 3 (also called Dragons Trap) for the Master System?

kind of. there is a wonder boy for genesis that is a side scrolling, POS game, and then wonder boy 5. you dont morph into any animals or anything like that. the closest you get is to change into a pygmi lol. you go along (going through a LOT of places you should remember from the sega master system wonder boy 3) doing quests for people which end up getting you the legendary sword which you use to get into the last castle (WB3 starting castle btw on sms) and yeah. i love it and think its the best one of the series. however because of the huge amount of quests and gold collections you would have to go through, i think this would put the game into about the 4 or so hour mark. :( to long for many people to want to do. oh yeah you also get helpers, like a little dragon, ghost thing with a scythe, fairy with a wand and a digging gnome person. get the rom and play it ^^ much fun to be had

After spending a better part of this evening playing it, I think I can safely say that I definitely won't be the one to work on a Beyond Oasis run. After getting Efreet and scaling that bloody mountain... ugh. That gauntlet they make you run through is a right pain in the ass. The first part being the hardest. Having you run against the wind through a series of three flamethrowers with enemies charging at you. If you let them get behind you, they putter their way back over to you at the worst times. But if you drop the first wave, a second, tougher wave flies out. >< After that, I'm not sure where to go, really. This is about as far as I've ever gotten. I certainly never got this far on the console due to those blasted flamethrowers. But I distinctly remember using the two remaining elementals. Maybe I rented it or something. xx; The game would be fairly quick, I think. It didn't take very long at all to round the first two elementals up. It's getting to the last two that'll take a bit of time. I think it's perfectly plausible, with rerecords, to get through without taking a single hit. But it'd be damn tricky. Especially the boss after the aforementioned gauntlet. You're running <-- thataway and the boss, who takes up the whole of the right half of the screen, is chasing you. It spits rocks at random spots and every so often, an inner mouth (think the Alien series) shoots out. That's the only weak spot and the rock spitting gets pretty furious as it loses life. Tough to avoid. Maybe I should stick to something simplier. Like Bonanza Bros. ~.~v

Effective use of the other warps would be very impressive, though. Never heard of that warp. It's listed on GameFaqs but that doesn't necessarily mean it's legit. There's a warp on the fifth-sixth level somewhere which takes you to right after the second boss though which I know works. As for the other games, Sonic, Contra and Shinobi seems to be very best choices. Even though I love Streets of rage (wrote faqs for all of them) I fear a time attack will be pretty repetitive. After you figure out what move has most damage, you tend to use that constantly. I will happily be proven wrong though. :) I will also add Alien Soldier. Treasure shoot-em-up, all bosses and almost no levels. Has a teleport move which could be very useful and interesting.

As I recall (it's been some time since I last played) there are a number of levels that don't have the normal end-flag on them; you have to use a warp to get to a new level. Granted, I don't know if any are on the "main" path: perhaps I just couldn't find the flags on those levels.

ain't it weird that it's easier to find a warp then the regular exit? lol

Well, if you were particularly unlucky you could go 'round in circles. Not that I ever did, noooo.... Well, maybe just a little. .... Aaaaaargh! The circles! The freaking circles I went in! NooooOoooOooooo.... *hugs his Game Genie* The only thing that let me keep my sanity.... 'Course, with emulators we have savestates, which are just as good.

I thought you were talking about those multi-level-skipping cheats. It's better to use the teleports now and then, definitely saves time. Would be more interesting to watch optimization of a route too. You mean you never got through this game without a game genie? Neener neener :P

Am i wrong or there's a warp right on the first level that takes to the last one? ("FODA sees a faint image of what he's saying now dating from over 10 years ago or maybe he is just crazy") =)

According to GameFaqs, there is. I've never heard of it, but it could be so.

I'm thinking discussion on Kid Chameleon now deserves its own topic...

Since it's one of the few games I'm actually really GOOD at, I figured I'd go for an Ultimate Qix run. I dunno whether to go for sheer speed, or try and beat every level at 99%, though. Whatcha think, guys? Speed or style? Late ol' edit: More random games to try and speed through: Beavis and Butthead (I'd like to say it's nigh impossible, but...~.~) Cyborg Justice (This is iffy, it's kinda slow-moving...) Gauntlet 4 (Does it even HAVE an end in Arcade Mode? I went through a lot of similar-looking levels...) Pac-Man 2 (I'm sure I'm alone on this. ~.~) Darius 2, Arrow Flash, [Insert other tough shooter here] Shining Force II seems to have stolen all of my free time, lately. Otherwise I'd try a Cyborg Justice run. I still have the original cart sitting on top of my entertainment center. And I actually remember beating it. Trouble is, there's little variety in it. You get to choose from every part in the game at the start. What fun is that? X.x

Gauntlet 4 has an ending to the quest mode. You can do that mode instead of the arcade mode.

Yomigaeru AIYAAAAN SHEEEEEFFU! Uh...wait, wrong resurrection. *coughs* Anyway, it seems as if Genesis runs have dried up lately. Not many games being tackled these days. Figured I'd make a second list within the first's topic just to try and spur someone into action. There's still a good selection of games to hit up, and I know at least some of 'em can be done really quickly. And so...: The Sonic series is being taken care of really well, so I don't think we have to worry about those not getting justice... Streets of Rage still has one or two more in the series that COULD be run. Whether they SHOULD be or not is debatable. Vectorman 1 and 2 are still in need of blazing runs. Vectorman can really hustle when he wants to be. Double-jumping and 8-way firing helps, too. Of course, a lot of levels, particularly in 2, are REALLY dark... Contra Hard Corps. and CV: Bloodlines have good runs out, so those can be crossed off the list. Rocket Knight Adventures and Sparkster have been run. Shinobi 3 and Ristar are still awaiting a good home-- er...run. Gunstar Heroes got made... I think. Rockman Megaworld has that dumb saving problem, so a marathon of all three games + Wily Tower doesn't seem possible... Comic Zone would be fun, but it'd take a bit of effort to make it really interesting, since the enemies take so many hits. Dynamite Headdy, EWJim 1 and 2, any Simpsons game, B.O.B... all still look like they'd be interesting... whatever happened to the plans for Earthworm Jim, anyway? Now that I've gone through most of the original list... Beyond Oasis: It is a long game, but knowledge of where to go and what to do would greatly reduce a lot of time. Smart use of weapon pickups (strong swords in particular) would also save time. The hardest part would probably be the mountaintop gauntlet, where you have to force yourself right while avoiding all sorts of hellish stuff....like those damn flamethrowers. Blaster Master 2: Never played it personally, but a sequel can't be ALL that bad, can it? c.c Blood Shot: The screenshot reminds me of something... and it looks like a 3D shooter. I'm wanting to say I played it and liked it, but....don't hold me to that. Bubba N Stix: A really awkward platformer where you control a redneck with a bit of wood for a 'partner' c.c; Cool Spot: Yes, it's SNES, too. But it's being added here on grounds that the game kicks enough ass that either version would be worth watching. Daze Before Christmas: An evil Santa? What the hell? Doom Troopers: I remember this being really popular for awhile back in the day. Flashback: Wasn't someone plotting a run for this? Any of the Jurassic Park games. Raptor or Human runs could both be worth it. As I'm sitting here looking through this list, I see a Jurassic Park 2 (F)(!) listed...and I've no CLUE how it plays. Probably a hack or something, but... Lawnmower Man, for its half-assed sidescroller stages and trippy Genesis-style 3D flying stages. Lemmings 1 and 2, of course... I'm surprised no one's taken a go at The Lion King yet, to be honest... I know folks are planning Lost Vikings games, so those are getting left alone... McDonald's Treasure Land Adventure - Because MC Kids just wasn't weird enough, this time you control Ronald himself. Ronald learned last time not to trust any crazy mini versions of Kid and Play. Mega Bomberman: Animal helpers? Who thought that was good? Mega Turrican: The weapons....the weapoooons! Rainbow Islands: Prettier than the NES version, that's for sure... Shadowrun: Does anyone even know what the hell this thing is ABOUT? Shove It - The Warehouse Game: It'd be more like Fire and Ice (NES) than anything - a demonstration of how to move the boxes properly. It's harder than it sounds, like all good puzzle games. We're Back - A Dinosaur's Tale: Because games where your sprite takes up like 90% of the screen are just that rare....and because the only time I've ever reached the final level, the cart locked up. Boo. X-men and X-men 2: Clone Wars. 2 was infinitely better... What was Zero Tolerance and why does it feel familiar? Zero the Kamikaze Squirrell (Aero the Acrobat 1 and 2, as well) Zombies Ate My Neighbors (Yes, I'm grumbling about it AGAIN) Zero Wing: Every Zig have not take off!! Zool: Ninja of the Nth Dimension! And that's it, really. Figured I'd at least try and get some steam under a few games again. Maybe it's just a bad time for running, what with school coming back into session around here and all, but... hey, s'worth a try. And it killed some time. Huzzah?

Crap! I forgot about the lion king! I loved that game(when I was 5)! *goes to add this to his already too big backlog of games he means to time attack* Edit: The zero wing game sucks. Anyway, if someone does it, they MUST show the intro.
