Submission Text Full Submission Page
While I (juef) have submitted this movie, I feel it would be inappropriate for me to give any kind of details on this game or this run given that ViGreyTech has done such an incredible job in his previous submission. This is mostly the same movie (hence ViGreyTech being the first author) with minor optimizations here and there, making it 22077 - 22038 = 39 frames faster. Notably:
  • During the intro / file selection / other on-screen text, A and/or B can sometimes be pressed faster than Start and yet achieve the same result.
  • In a few places, jumping and getting on/off ladders could be optimized for a frame or two.
  • When grabbing the first key, we can turn around one frame faster and still get it.
I checked and/or redid everything up to the last reset. After that, there was no way I could do any better. That last section of the TAS is truly masterful and ViGreyTech has my profound admiration.
I also wish to share ViGreyTech's suspicions about subpixel shenanigans. Some optimizations were lost for no apparent reason, and I don't feel competent enough to investigate it further.
Finally, it should be noted that while I have worked on this TAS with BizHawk v2.9 RC2, it syncs with v2.8 just fine.

Thanks

  • ViGreyTech for the great submission.
  • Darkman425, TheStrahl, WhiteHat94, Rayquaza911 and Brad Smith for reasons explained by ViGreyTech in his submission notes.
