another run of Zelda II The Adventure of Link I Tried Using a diffrent route to improve the run.

nymx: Claiming for judging.

nymx: Greetings signupredir26. I've been reviewing this submission for a few days and I'm seeing problems.
1. Identifying the "Branch" is an important detail on how a movie will be judged. In this case, we can only guess by the techniques used in your playback, that you are performing "warp glitch". This has been brought up by Spikestuff. If this is you goal, it lacks the optimization to compete with [4234] NES Zelda II: The Adventure of Link "warp glitch" by TASeditor, Arc, Inzult & EZGames69 in 05:31.89. Additionally, Arc makes mention that you are also attempting a run that appears to have elements of a "No Major Skips" run. In this case, using the "warp glitch" is forbidden, and cannot be accepted over the existing run of [4367] NES Zelda II: The Adventure of Link by Arc & Inzult in 34:58.74.
2. "Submission Text" is very important for the audience here at TASVideos. It helps to identify details that could pre-answer any questions viewers would have. Please try looking up some other publications to see the "Author's Notes", for an ideaa on how you can incorporate for any future submissions.
3. Response, on your part, is very important. There are often times that judgement requires extra details, and answers to questions. In this case, you haven't made an effort (as with your previous submission) to get back to comments and/or questions...utilizing the discussion thread. It is possible; however, unlikely in this case that your movie could receive acceptance. Clarification on such matters could prove helpful and may open up the idea of a new branch, even though it doesn't appear possible in this situation.
We certainly don't want to sound discouraging on your efforts, but our sites does have the goal in mind for accepting and publishing the highest quality work that members can offer. Please take in consideration the advice that was given in the discussion thread. I do believe, with enough effort, you are more than capable of finding improvements to any existing runs for Zelda 2.
I'm sorry, but I'm rejecting this run for the primary reason of optimization.

Hello signupredir26 and welcome back to TASVideos. In this updated movie you have deiced again to exploit warp glitch. Meaning your TAS is still comparable to this publication which is 15 minutes faster. I also must reinform you that having anything placed in the character field is a waste of time compared to leaving it default/blank. For future runs take your time and use the tools available to you in FCEUX and use the userfiles. Go again when you've optimized more than the currently published TAS.

i’d recommend using the current tas as a baseline, trying to copy it and then try to find an improvement or two. well done for trying, but this still needs a lot of work. voting no for poor optimisation.

The first thing of note that happens in the movie is that it gets into an unnecessary random encounter. The entry to the swamp palace picks up a red jar for no reason and then demonstrates no ability to manipulate enemies. There is no planning regarding XP. (In the published movies, the entirety of XP routing was planned before the movie started.) The boss fights make it most obvious how little effort went into optimization. The author still doesn't use the encounter glitch, likely being unaware of it. At one point the author went into a town for the sole purpose of refilling the magic meter. The Valley of Death is the toughest spot to manipulate random encounters, and so the author doesn't even bother trying. Some screens in the Great Palace are below RTA level. Dark/Shadow Link is obviously suboptimal. But the biggest issue is that the author is attempting the same "branch" as before, which isn't really a coherent branch. It tries to be something in between [4234] NES Zelda II: The Adventure of Link "warp glitch" by TASeditor, Arc, Inzult & EZGames69 in 05:31.89 and [4367] NES Zelda II: The Adventure of Link by Arc & Inzult in 34:58.74, but that is impossible. The difference between those two movies is that the 5-minute movie allows L+R and the 34-minute movie doesn't allow L+R, and so this submission is a slower version of the 5-minute movie. L+R is an unintended programming oversight, not possible to do with a normal physical controller, that severely breaks the game. It is not interesting except in the "no restrictions whatsoever" branch because it removes most of the gameplay and strategy from the game.

signupredir26, What is the primary goal of this run? Is there something about this that is meant to distinguish it from our current publications as a different branch/goal other than just beating the game?
