Introduction

Ninja Mission, (a.k.a, Ninja), an oldie by Mastertronic from 1987, is a decent game where you play as a ninja (hero) whose mission is to infiltrate a japanese palace to collect 7 idols and return them to the torii gates. The reason is unknown -- all we know is that he is willing to use maximum violence and minimal subterfuge.
The route in this game is deterministic, so it was easy to figure out the fastest way to get them idols and get out. The enemies and fights are mostly RNG. The most important aspect is to determine (and use) the type of critical attack for every enemy. Such attack will knockout the enemy immediately. This was a short and fun game to TAS, so I think I am also going to do the DOS version.
Enjoy!

nymx: This is a nice little run that gets right to the point. Every encounter is attacked with efficiency, leaving us with a highly optimized run.

This game also has a C64 version with a fairly well known glitch to access a kind of "Minus World", as is extensively explored in this video: Link to video I don't know if that "Minus World" could be useful for any kind of speedrunning purposes, but it's an interesting tidbit to share nonetheless. :)

thanks for the link! The video was a blast and had a TON of useful debug information; I'm definitely taking a look into TASing the c64 version of the game

Love the movement in this game. "I have defeated the enemy and picked up the item they were guarding. Now to exit the room back the way I came from the most natural way possible."
