The Amazing Spider-Man for Amiga is a puzzle platformer game developed by Oxford Digital Enterprises.
Mary Jane has been kidnapped by Mysterio, so Spider-Man has to rescue her, as fast as possible.
This TAS has less rerecords and is a few frames slower on the boot than a previous userfile I shared because I copied it into one that used the BIOS that BizHawk marks as perfect, with a star.
Also idk if this version has enough differences with the DOS one so it doesn't obsolete the TAS of that version, one difference I noticed is that the webbing to the back that the DOS RTA WR does wasn't possible on this version, or at least I couldn't make it happen.
Game Objectives
- Emulator used: BizHawk 2.11
- Aims for fastest time
- Heavy glitch abuse
Tech and glitches
- During the boot sequence, normally you have to go through a comic strip, but by pressing any button to go through it, and pressing escape during the transition, its skipped, but its still needed to wait for the game to load after doing so.
- After it loads, the game asks you some questions from the manual as copy protection, but if you press enter to skip a question, and then press enter again as the next question appears, its skipped without having to answer them. The timing for the enters is kind of specific so I think it is a glitch. Also had to delay the first enter press a few frames instead of doing it on the first possible frame, to make it work.
- Clip glitch: Spider-Man can clip on the floor if he's in an animation where with one sprite he's not touching the floor, but in the next frame he's changed sprites to one that is now past it. Here it's used to get to an OoB room, which exits lead back to the previous screen, so exiting left on that screen gets you to the right of the first screen slightly faster.
- Black Thunder skip: The helicopter, when mounting it in the middle, gets you to the end screen, I think this is supposed to be an easter egg since you cannot get to the actual end since it's blocked off, but by jumping off the helicopter to the left, it's possible to clip into the wall and slide down to then trigger the end. There's a switch on the top middle of where the helicopter rides you, so you cannot jump off earlier.
- Spider-Man moves faster while jumping, rathr than walking.
- Crawling is also slow, so to prevent some crawling, or bonking into the ledge while going to the helicopter, a turnaround is done, which is also faster than webbing.
ROM
Couldn't find an uncracked version of the name, so I used Amazing Spider-Man, The (1990)(Empire)(M5)[cr].adf, which at least doesn't have a crack screen.

Darkman425: I've read enough newspaper Spider-Man to confidently claim this for judging. Also, a minor edit to the submission text to remove a couple of unintentional links.
Darkman425: No clue how much the copy protection breaking is due to the crack or due to bugging out, though TOSEC not having an uncracked version in their database to compare with makes checking for that a hassle. At least it seems that doesn't affect the gameplay proper so that shouldn't affect judgment here.
Much like
the DOS version's publication this also glitches through part of the map to jump right to the end. The movement also looks well optimized for this short TAS. Nice work!
