Rules of walkathon (or sidestroller, speedwalk): The B button (run button) is not allowed. I've been working on this TAS category since 2008.

Sorry for the long delay. Most of our TAS was completed before 2019. Back then, Mars608 and I were also working on a new "warpless walkathon" TAS. Due to Bullet Bill RNG and entertainment, the release was delayed until now (mostly my fault).

Improvements over my 2007 TAS:

  • 4-1: New strategy that skips entering the castle, saves 21 frames
  • 4-2: Saves 21 frames
  • 8-2: Jumping on a Bullet Bill to cross the gap, saves 21 frames
  • 8-3: Loses 21 frames due to bad Bullet Bill RNG
  • 8-4: First two rooms save 2 frames; Final room loses 1 frame due to bad Bowser RNG
Total improvement: 43 frames

nymx: Wow...a little over 16 years later, and an improvement is made to this particular branch. The "warpless" and "warps" categories of "walkathon" have been re-split out into their individual branches. Well done on this improvement!

I was a little surprised to tee this accepted, as the warps run was obsoleted by the warpless one. This is a very pleasant surprise! Amazing run, can't wait for the TVC video.
