Idk but it's something trying to mimic Super Mario Bros in a unique way!

Game objectives

  • No damage taken
  • Luck manipulation
  • Fastest time

Comments

  • This game is heavily inspired by Super Mario Bros. Tokoro moves like Mario, you can't go back to the left and there are few layouts similar to SMB. The gameplay is very simple where you just move and shoot enemies with a water gun.
  • You also have a map that shows you the path you're going through, though the first four areas are chosen at random among some others (except the starting area), so this kind of created a bit of randomness that requires some manipulation but also choosing the fastest path (choosing Minato for instance is not guaranteed going from the first area).
  • Other than that, it's just walk, jump and shoot type of game.

Special thanks

  • ohon: For his WR run of this game. This TAS is only 10 seconds faster compared to his run, even though it looks much faster due to timing differences.
  • You: For watching.
I guess we saved someone? Because the game's translation is Tokoro-san's Defense and Attack!

Challenger: Claiming for judging.
Challenger: The game looks confusing at first without context, but both this TAS and the WR run have nice gameplay optimization and routing. The description about this game at the top of the submission text, however, defines how the game is :)
(spoiler: the last section has some classic familiar elements)
Nice work with the project! Accepting for publication.
EDIT: I didn't realize an improvement was uploaded before. Updated the step with an 16 frame improvement.

despoa: Processing...

What a strange game. Entertaining TAS though, short enough to not get boring. I do wonder if you can sometimes shoot more enemies to cut lag. Yes vote nonetheless.

Yoo thanks for the feedback scrimpeh! You can cut lag by shooting enemies, though it may be slower than just keeping it, and there aren't many heavy lag instances either. Also, I would like to replace the movie file with this one that's 16 frames faster.

Forgot to check the thread before (my bad), and the game lags a lot indeed. There are some games that have inconsistent lag behavior, and optimizing it to the fullest potential may require some time. Fortunately this one doesn't seem to suffer so much despite running at 30 FPS nearly the entire time. Yes vote for the extra optimization!
