New run? >_< I dunno... 1-2 seconds worth of improvement (because there's loading times at both ends of the room) on a 40 minute doesn't sound like enough motivation. I'm not like some of the guys who redo a whole run to improve 1 frame =D
And I really dont blame you because its certainly not motivating to improve it only by 1-2 seconds. But didnt he say that you would save 5-6 seconds in that room? Anyway, I meant maybe if you had some more ideas that could be implemented so you could gain even more seconds but oh well :)

I agree that just one room for a complete DKC run is kind of pointless for someone to do, because for someone to take it from scratch and impliment the fact that the room is not needed is not really beneficial. For hardcore movie makers, or the person who made the current run, it might be a good project.

I don't know how much "agressive optimizing" was used in the movie, but it might be a worth it too to just go back and just hardcore optimize movements and such and leave out that room. My memory doesn't go back all that far. =D

Would cool to see the same enthusiasm in this game as for Rockman 2. :D Break the game down. Find all optimizers. And perhaps there's something like in SMBW when running?

Yeah, the hard work (getting under 40 and figuring out a good path through the bonus rooms) was done, so there wasn't motivation for me to look for more optimizations. I don't think there was a movie of this game before that, so anything better than 46 I considered to be worth it (I don't know of a single person who even knew of all the warps in the game.. it seems that many of top players didn't know about some particular warp somewhere). So it was a good way of compiling a lot of people's knowledge into one run. I played most of the game at 33 or whatever skips (from the usual 17), so there may be room for more precision. But to spend another half a day on it to remove the 1-2 seconds ain't cool, dude. Perhaps there's some weirdness (like flickering your dierction in Yoshi's Island or flying in SMW) left to be discovered, or maybe even an entirely new warp. If that happens, it could be reason enough to do the game over again. Anger: yeah, 5-6 seconds of real time, but it's only about 1-2 seconds of game time. It's not THAT bad, is it? I'm sure some other runs on this site have > 2 seconds error somewhere.

Alex, I never implied that your run is bad, on the contrary, its a very beautiful run.

I know of a few more time savers in this game that should save a few more seconds. They still won't knock the time down another minute though, so it's not something I'd get too enthusiastic over.

LOL @ Bag n Deviance :) This topic is obviously about the 101% run, I wonder if there is any noticable improvements or new tricks to be implemented in the any% run? I doubt it but was only wondering.

How awesome is it that I've restarted the run and restimate to save about a minute? What's even more awesome is that you're reading this old thread. First world done! Edit again: It's so awesome that we restarted once more! and restimate to save about 3 minutes! and maybe 1.5 min on any%. Oh, ain't I awesome? Why the hell are you reading this old thread? Schoo! Schoo!

Looks good so far, Arne_the_great! You rolled really fast with Diddy on jungle hijinx, I almost couldn't keep up. I recommend that you post your movie-files here though: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php I used Silentwhisper a lot before, but since you have to zip your files to upload them there first, I started using DeHacked's microstorage. No big deal though, it's just a little more convenient. And if anyone has trouble finding the right ROM, the version of the game is 1.0, so the ROM "Donkey kong country (U) (V1.0) [!]" should work good with this movie, I haven't tried 1.1 or 1.2 yet, maybe they work too. But it was a very good start with this movie, keep it up!

well thank you =) I started at this movie because i discovered some new small tricks that should save some time (we have snes and DKC in school and we play this ALOT) but I didn't even know that i could save time on the first map and second map but it went that way however =) And i expect about 15 - 50 seconds faster or even more :)

I think it's great that you're challenging this run because the one that's published now is really high quality. Making a 50 minute movie in hopes of improving it by less than a minute is really admirable. I really wish you the best and hope you have the patience to make it to the end.

Well... it's the patience that is my biggest enemy because it's going pretty slow right now but i hope i will last to the end. But on the other side I can't stand to see that it can be improved :P

It looks good so far--there are both strategic and technical improvements. If I can remember the time savers I found since the last publishing, I'll post them. You can probably improve the levels in terms of frames, since when alex was working on it the focus was mainly on the in-game timer rather than remaking the run for small improvements in frames. Hopefully, the 38 mark can be reached; I'm interested to see what you have planned.

deviance, I'm pretty sure that I will reach the 38 mark, I know a trick on forest frenzy that will save about 5 seconds or more and some other tricks too and I keep finding new tricks while i play. And if anyone of you have some tactics or whatever that could save time so please tell me before i make the stage =/ :) Hmm... notice a weird thing... my video 11592 frames and in seconds would be 193,2 and my re-record count is 1932 :O I didn't even know that :O and thank you saturn and the others that motives me =)

I don't think it's okay to link to site with ROMs in this forum. I know Bisqwit doesn't like that, so if you want to find the ROM you would have to find it yourself, sorry...

Ok, I decided to restart the run because I saw somethings that could be improved (Forgot to compare diffrent things in each stage) and hexing was too much work for me. But now it's faster anyway :P I just hope I don't get bored and gives up with the run. =/ Deviance: It sure be good if you told me tactics before I make the level because it would make things a little easier :P
