I've been playing it a bit myself. And it's pretty decent (though I've never played any other Metroid 3 hack to compare it to). The changes seem minor and sublte at first. I can still see the same basic 'frame' of the game's map in a lot of areas, but they're all connected differently. I'm thinking I missed the high-jump boots somewhere, though, because I keep running into areas out of my jumping-range and barely making it up there with the wall jump. So far I've found Super Missles AND the Speed Booster, only fought the Torizo and the Spore Spawn so far... It's not like a new level-hack from the ground up, it clearly takes the existing maps and re-arranges them. Your route through the game is certainly different. Some of the new puzzles are clever, others seem downright frustrating... I may post more if I get to progress further.

Super Hard Metroid or something, anyone played that hack? I couldn't find a download link to it, many people said it was too hard and very hard but interesting -- so if well made it could perhaps be a good candidate for an impressive speedrun.

This is happening to me too. Same thing with Limit. After the intro the screen just stays black and there is no sound at all.

Bad dump maybe? I've applied it to the "JU [!]" rom, and it works ok. When it came to item acquiring puzzles, this hack surprised me pretty much, but the level design (I mean the aesthetic component here, not functional which is ok) is worse than original, IMO.

Yes I played it to test the difficulty and get some ideas for my extremely hard type hack I worked at this time (now I have delayed it because of the RBO run). It's a very interesting hack with many tricky and confusing parts which require alot of searching and exploring to find your way through therefore I don't think it will make a good speedrun because of the endless labyrinths in the layer which will cost you extremely much time to pass. I also did a walkthrough for this hack and ended with a time of around 3 hours mainly because of tons detours as I didn't know where to go imediately. To get the hack I recommend to contact the author personally via email (I got it on this way). Just look at the official topic of this hack at SCU to get all information: www.samusforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=5177

I think if I was going to make a hack I'd change the item orders around a lot, like by having Grapple Beam be the first item or something. Of course, it's not like I actually have time for that.

There are a few other hacks on that page as well. Have you compared the other hacks? How Legacy compares to them?
No answers to this question? Because I'm trying to make a decision whether we could accept Legacy as an allowed hack.

I tried the one on left of that one too, Metroid Limit, but it was impossible for me to complete without savestates and slowdown. It's not really a good modification, new games is always fun to play, but there was to many ways to die and make a wrong turn and not being able to get back.
I doubt anyone would want to do a TAS of this game, so don't even bother.

Sounds just like "Air" to me. ;)

I really don't know what to say, I havn't directly compared it to any of the other games on that site, since it's impossible to compare 2 games to eachother, even if they're the same one in the bottom, since they're both in a completely different league, one being easy and one being near impossible. Don't ask me about that, ask someone who believes that it's possible to compare to completely different things to eachother. And no, I don't think you should accept a Metroid Legacy demo to be submitted here.

No not really, if I had to the time make a TAS of one of the Super Metroid hacks I would most definately pick Limit over Legacy. It's a much better hack. Difficulty isn't a problem, Super Demo World was very hard too, and I bet most people couldn't beat it without save states, even though it can be done.

Yep, same one I used. The "vanilla" rom works just fine for the regular game so I doubt its a bad dump....who knows? There's a readme file thats included with the ips patch but of course it's in japanese :-/

same problem here. applied ips to Super Metroid (JU) [!].smc, crc: d63ed5f8, didn't work. applied ips to SuperMetroid.smc, crc: 806d0d0b (a bad dump.. don't ask me where I got it), and the game started. Still, snes9x tells me [bad checksum] and crc-mismatch when I try to play the timeattack, but the movie plays back fine. I could make an ips of my bad-but-working rom against the (JU) [!], but that's not really helpful I guess.

Hey I have a question for people who have played the Metroid Legacy hack. I just aquired the Varia and got the Power Bombs, but now I'm at a loss as to where to go. Every new area that the Power Bombs opened up for me seems to require either the Grapple Beam or the Gravity Suit. I'm thinking I missed the Grapple Beam somewhere, but I have no idea where. Any idea?

Spoony_Bard - Isn't this the beauty of every new game? That no one will know what to do really. :D And do you really wanna know instead of explore everything your self and find it out?

http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/771/ If you really can't find it, watch this movie. I had to take a different route though, since I hadn't killed Crocomire, but I guess you'd recognize some of the rooms, and that you're able to find the way yourself. The movie was made 50% with turbo speed on. That's why I wait so long and miss ledges and stuff. ;D http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/772/ Here's also something else I find really cool, I believe I have talked to XtraX about it, but I'm not sure, if so, cred goes to him/her.

I found it, thanks. Though I haven't found the Spazer, and I don't think I can use that method since I suck at mockballing. Is there any other way into that area? I see a Super Missle Gate, but it's one-way, and I can't come back from there. Hmm...

You can charge a super jump at the upper ledge, jump/fall down and tackle through the gates.
