I'll see if I can make a test run of a few levels. I played the game to death on the original "super crappy screen" Game Boy and it might be fun... Edit: According to my testing, jumping and dashing (with just the regular big Wario) seem to be almost exactly equally fast, though dashing seems to be a tiny bit faster (and by tiny, I mean tiny), but that might just be because of a lack of optimizations on my part. More testing will be needed. Edit: I tested it once and for all, and I found out that jumping is slightly FASTER than unupgraded dashing. At least it is if Wario bounces off some enemies. Now to find out which is faster: jet hat jumping, jet hat dashing or dashing with some other hat. Edit: Level 1 done quite fast: http://fast.filespace.org/blublu/blublu_warioland.vbm It seems like if you bounce on an enemy, it doesn't cause a delay. I also discovered a nice trick; you can pick up an enemy, jump, throw the enemy, and then bounce from it in the air. It looks pretty neat.

Ah, that bouncing looks really cute. If that's the fastest way, keep going!

Yes! That looks really nice! The constant jumping/bouncing of enemies and re-using these enemies is awesome. Really looking forward to see some more stuff!

New WIP. First world + 1 level of world 2. http://fast.filespace.org/blublu/blublu_warioland_wip2.vbm I'm not sure if I should continue - it looks like I'll just be flying right over most of the levels and it won't look very interesting. The only cool thing so far is skipping the thwomp (or whatever it's called) in the narrow tunnel level.

Oh, I think the jetting is cool enough if that's the fastest way you can find. Keep going!

I'm just going to list a couple o' glitches and tricks: - The 16-select trick. Copied and pasted from Gamefaqs: "During gameplay, pause, and press SELECT 16 times - no more, no less. Press A and press left or right to move to a different digit area. Press up or down to adjust the number of hearts, coins, and lives you have. After doing the debug menu cheat above, press and hold A and B and select the picture of Wario all the way to the left and unpause. You will now change: Small Wario --> Big Wario --> Bull Wario -->Jet Wario -->Dragon Wario --> Small Wario" - Hold A when getting a power-up to jump, even in mid-air. This also applies to power-ups granted by the 16-select trick. - As Jet Wario, after you start losing air, turn around twice and press B again to not lose any height.

Wasn't the 16-Select trick deemed illegal?

Thanks, but the 16-select trick is a deliberate cheat, like 50 lives in Contra, etc. Also, it's possible to not lose altitude when jetting without turning around at all.

Yes it was, we discussed this several months back.

Does the extra-jump glitch help, though?

Possibly, I don't know. I can't think of any place at the moment. Thanks for the input, though. :)

You should know the extra jump power up thing happens in practically every Mario game.

This game seriously needs a AVI speedrun. (or MKV)

The game has to be finished first. Any new progress? (Mainly posting to fix the forum tables.)

Nah, this game is boring to run and boring to watch. Unless you like watching Wario go in a straight line and a constant speed through every level, that is. If someone else wants to continue my run where I left off, he/she is more than welcome to do so.

Just some minor things. As Garlic and Bull Wario you can cancel the lag caused by dashing into an enemy by jumping. Holding up makes you travel faster horizontally while walking off ledges too. And you can do a faster duck jump by holding up + down.

I'm sure thee's a good explaination as to why there's absolutely zero mention of a Super Mario Land 3: Wario Land TAS anywhere on the site, and I'd like to hear it to be honest, but that aside, I'd more like to see someone beat this game into a pulp! Who's hungry for a little Wario-tastic fun? Anyone?

Hmm, interesting. All treasures? No treasures? I'm curious. Wonder if I have enough time to fiddle with it.

I'm getting frustrated with the board's search engine finding @#(* I'm looking for. Also, I thought I fixed that typo... Should be fixed now.

Maybe all treasures would be better.

The 99999 coin ending seems better as pute 100% feel. You'll get 90000 just from the 15 treausres. 300 coins from Course 40 and a target of 14699 coins from the other 39 courses. Some courses you have to re-enter by achieving hidden exits. One of the Rice beach courses is the pointless Crab hunting. It gives you 91 coins (101 - 10 from course exit). 91 x 8 (from bonus game) = 728 coins. You can get 125 coins as the minimum to achieve max 999 from a single course. What's the reccomended target to achieve good bonuses from the Coin minigame (70 minimum, 125 maximum)? I'll edit this post a couple of times roughly how many coins there are in each course. It's mainly best to get coins that are not from either the blocks nor enemies unless it's enemy betrayl abuse. Edit 1: In the Coin bonus minigame going to the: Left bucket: 32 frames Right bucket: 30 frames but some times is varies depending on the direction of Wario's face.. Right bucket, incorrect, back to centre: 258 frames Left bucket, incorrect, back to centre: 289/290 frames Right bucket, correct, back to centre: 314 frames Left bucket, correct back to centre: 318 frames Seems like the right bucket is the faster of the 2. Now I need to find a way of manipulating it during the game not before hand.

Does that mean your actually running this, or are you just laying more ground work?

I possibly will do after completing this. Right now I'm just refreshing my memory on each level and stuff. I'll find out which levels gives out a good amount of coins which are worth using during the bonus game to recieve an high number. Up to the 3rd main world and I've found 5 levels that contain coins that can go up to over 4000 coins after bonus game: So far 1 level has an giant 100 coin. 1 level has those chickens that each one drops 3x 10 coins. 1 level has crab hunting get 91 coins after completing it. (it's really a filler level but I'll do it anyway to make it an 100% feel). 2 levels has boss battles and I can get 125 coins easily after the boss to achieve the 999 coin target. Stangely enough I've found a glitch that in Sherbert land you pick up an hedgehog enemy and it's hard to explain but basically what happened was that I threw it at the wall and by the time it hit the wall it got hit by lighting too which didn't destroy the hedgehog but did drop 10 coins, it's basically an enemy that can surive glitch you could repeat it as many times as you want.
