Only 27? Well, then, if CloudMan's weapon saves more time on other levels, then you may just come out ahead! Yippee!

Overall, I really liked your aggressive sliding approach. Good job. Just one question: did you check if it is faster not shooting that enemy at frame 14190 or taking hit?

Thank you and here's the answer: It's faster that way because taking damage is slower :P Tested it.

Currently on hold due lack of motivation. You can check the progress in here. And here's the .smv file if anyone's interested.

News. I have teamed up with adelikat and Brushy. This is going to be the first movie done by three persons. Other news. New glitch found. I still am not sure if it's going to be useful. Just check it out for yourself. The problem is, I can't slide nor move in the next room. But as you can see how far right the Rush Coil went once, I actually did move somehow. Also I haven't been able to zip through the roof yet. But I'm working on it. EDIT: I just came down from there somehow! Don't know how though, and unfortunately I wasn't recording. EDIT2: Okay, I got it work. 69 frames faster compared to Tinister's run. I know the mettool room looks awkward, but I'm going to redo it.

http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1408/mm7%20junk%20stage%20done.smv Junkman destroyed. Bablo & brusy have refined the stage to save over 200 frames. As for the boss, I ended up identical to tinister. There are 2 things that look suboptimal that are infact not: 1) destroying junkman on the edge of the screen This adds several hundred frames of explosion animation but it is unfortunately unavoidable. Junkman will only stand on the edges. You can provoke him to switch sides but only by shooting him. Therefore he is invulnerable at the center of the screen. 2) making him jump only once his invulnerability time is longer when jumps up after being hit. Unfortunately if he doesn't jump he will "suck" up the debris. He is invulnerable in this animation. I have seen no randomness in his pattern so this is unavoidable. So no improvments. But the good news is that we are over 200 frames ahead and actively working on this run again :D

Yeah, there's not much you can do with Junkman... Looking good however. =) I've got to say I was a little inspired to run through this again. So far I've only done the intro stage up to Bass, but I'm currently three frames faster than my previous run. 8)

So you decided to redo this run and compete against Adelikat & Guybrush & Bablo? It sounds very interesting. Which would be fast?

Just to note that Freezeman is destroyed, and in total we are about 12 seconds ahead of the old run at this point.

How about going for 100% completion?

A 100% completion is a good idea, since we don't have one yet.
Which run should I encode next? :)

Agreed, a 100% run would make an excellent addition to the current runs. A 100% MegaMan run is always good. ;3

So now? But I have one question how to defined a 100 completion run of this game? Including 4 EN & 4 WP & 1 SP? There are a lot of items you can buy from shop. If you have enough bolt, maybe buy those items from shop will faster than you get it in stage.

Yeah, someone should map out where all the buried items are so you can plan that.

If you look at my run, that's where they are. That's the fastest route. Intro Level Freeze Man - H at route split (Rush Jump) Rush Search (Rush Jump) Exit - Search just before the boss room (There's two levels before the boss door. Search on the higher, non-boss door level, by the shell) Burst Man - R Cloud Man - U (Rush Jump) First Blues Meeting (Rush Jump) Junk Man - S (Lower Path) - Die after this Rush Jet Boss Museum Turbo Man - Booster Adapter - 1 screen below 2nd Blues meeting, on the stoplight (Rush Adapter works to get over there - then Rush Search) 2nd Blues Meeting - 1 screen below giant tire through the right wall Giant bolt - search under the big tire Slash Man - Beat - Last tree (Scorch Wheel) Spring Man - Auto's Bolt Shade Man - 3rd Blues Meeting for Protoshield - Lower path at Pumpkin - Die after beating him Weapon Balancer - upper path at pumpkin, search under the Wily portrait (Rush Search) I might put in some screenshots later if you don't want to just download my speedrun from SDA. And for the record, I did NOT count WP, EP, and SP tanks as they are expendable items. I almost don't want to count auto's bolt either, as he actually has it back for the ending, even if you don't get it. The only thing it does is cut bought items down in half (and added a giant cutscene). If you do, don't buy an SP tank. You can quickly pick one up in Wily Level 3 just before the boss. I only had to buy 2 EP tanks.

Can't you buy the exit item from Auto? Also, why do you need Rush to get Rush Search?

You can buy ANYTHING from Auto it's a matter if of you have the bolts. Though like the Booster Adapter is 800 bolts. Faster to search. And you can try getting the Rush Search w/o Rush Coil. You TASers can probably get it using a dash-jump...I just couldn't get it to work on a console.

It's not hard get Rush Search without Rush Coil. Just practice more. http://s54.photobucket.com/albums/g109/vsmk3/?action=view&current=RushSearch.flv&refPage=&imgAnch=imgAnch1 I don't use slowdown and rerecord this,so it looks unoptimized.

# of TAS movies Sir VG has submitted: ZERO. # of speedruns Sir VG has done: a lot more I just post to help. I may do a TAS someday.

Granted that I'm not a person that typically does fast pace games, and I was dealing with a finicky controller, I was amazed that I even got my run half as good as I did. I'm quite out of practice on MM7 now (I did my run on Christmas Eve), but if I get back into things, I'll try it again later. Though here's a question on 100% since I'm curious for myself now. Should Auto's bolt count? I rewatched tinister's posted TAS, and noticed that at the end, Auto has his bolt anyways. And it doesn't show up on the menu screen anywhere, though it does count as part of the password.

Sir VG, your route is not even close to the fastest route. Fastest boss order for the first 4 bosses is: Cloudman - Junkman - Freezeman - Burstman. Difference is about 9-10 seconds.
