    * kill almost every enemy
    * Play around with perfect reflexes (this time for sure)
    *teasing enemies = P then kill them
    *Try to kill some enemies real fast to avoid lag
    *fast as possible

    *sometimes I kill enemies exactly when they appear

Did not go so well with my other run.. Got most no votes and when I watched what it stood on the posts I could understand why. I don't now why the heck this run is slower??? I did everything I could to make this run entertaining and faster as well but I failed at the time... = (
Hope you like it anyways

adelikat: It might be unprecedented for a movie that is a minute faster than the current run to get rejected. But in this case, it is appropriate. While I consider Morimoto's run improvable, this run is not the answer. Diman's run is too literal. He plays gradius. The problem is that gradius by itself is not a publish worthy game. Morimoto's run is entertaining because he transcends the game itself. What Morimoto himself is doing becomes the focus, not the game itself. As stated in the discussion forum, Morimoto makes music :)
I am rejecting this submission. Diman, if you want to pusue this game further consider taking the playaround aspect to a higher level. Shooting enemies is not relevant, collecting items is not either. The main emphasis should be on doing something create and interesting with the fast movements possible in this game. Also, post a wip on the forums and get feeback from others.
I do like that you destroy the bosses quickly and speed up the completion of the game, but combine that with the above mentioned aspects. Good luck.

I didn't really appreciate his run, either. The only Gradius run I have really appreciated so far is Bisqwit's unfinished attempt at Gradius/Lifeforce bigame movie. On the other hand, even if someone makes an enormously aesthetic run of an autoscroller, chances are it will get rejected just because most people don't like autoscroller TASes (just because of their autoscrolling nature). It's just that Morimoto's movie has already been published here at the moment of introducing voting system, but if it would've been submitted recently, I'd also vote meh on it without a single doubt.

Thank you. Maybe I should resume at it some day…

Personally I think that the idea of gradius/lifeforce bigame movie was great, but one thing in this choice bothered me: The fact that the fire button is different in the games. It's somehow confusing that the spaceships move synchronously but they don't shoot synchronously. It would make a great dual playaround, but I wonder if there would be some other similar game where the fire button would be the same. Or perhaps one of the games could be configured to have the same fire button as the other?

I also think that ships should shoot synchronously. It can be achieved by pressing always A+B when you want to shoot. It'll be tricky if you try to collect certain power-up. Good strategy is to build firepower at first steps and then use only SpeedUp. There's ultra-crazy idea! How about someone taking quadruple run - Gradius+Gradius2+Salamander(LifeForce)+Parodius ? :) All those shmups have universal power-ups system and everything in common. THAT would be real meaning of "Shooting Fun"! But I guess it's too early for this on current phase of TASvideos' life.

Year 20xx. All movie-making tools are perfected, ps3 is emulated with rerecording, all emulators use single input format. "movie: gradius 1-2-3. decision: rejected. Your movie handles only three games at once, it's just too boring to watch, and three screens can not be placed well in output avi. so, no. may be you should try gradius 1-2-4-5 run instead or give up this idea. " :D

I'm thinking how funny a pacifist run of Gradius would be, as in "doesn't shoot anything". Not fun to watch but the whole idea of "I finished Gradius without shooting anything!" sounds funny. I got the idea when I read that "averaging Gradius" article where they said the boss self destructs after 27 seconds so you could turn it into a staring contest (perhaps even go Chuck Norris on him and move so you avoid ramming him by one frame)... As for dual runs, how about working the Gameboy versions in there?
