Another title that I enjoyed in the past and would like to see done. It's a pinball game done in a sorta RPG style, with purchasable items (which you can also try to steal from the shops). I never got that far, cause I kept falling off of the board's bottom...

For a while I was beginning to wonder if I was the only person to have played this. :P It's a fun little game, and getting the "DEVL" (how did this get past Nintendo censorship..?) and the full 12 ATK would make it piss easy to kill anything and everything... and there are a lot of small shortcuts here and there. I've managed to beat this game several times, and it's still quite fun. You could just manipulate stealing to get the good items right off the bat so it's easier, too. Hm, maybe I should try this game..?

I've never attempted to do any speedruns, cause I was only good enough at the games to beat them quickly and move on. But I would like to see what someone can do when they can bend the game's rules to their will and pull some interesting stunts. I'd say give it a shot. It's something to do anyway.

I know on the turtle/ship level, it's possible to go into the roulette without killing the turtle on the path there if your timing's right. I'll go do something else and come back here in 30 minutes and give it a go... --- Edit: aparrently it's very possible to go too fast when starting the game. xD

Heh, I viewed the too fast start-up. Dang bad programming. Anyhow, I'm having trouble trying to get the movie to remain synced. It dies around the time you beat the skeleton. Currently looking for those 2 files you posted in the forum according to the submission.

Got it to work, ended up having to update my FCEU, which wasn't bad, I was using .12, and now I'm using .15. *thumbs up*

Here's a movie that shows how to be fast in the first half of the first level: http://www.freewebs.com/aqfaq/pq1.fcm (It's my first FCM ever.) Gravestone is hit at frame 361 (Xkeeper's submission: 384) The gate is hit at 1466 (Xkeeper: 1602) The upper part of the level is very difficult to optimize and my movie stops there. The problem here is that it doesn't matter how early you hit the first skeleton, because all (three) of them need to be hit. Destroying the skeletons might be a suitable task for Bisqbot.

I noticed that hitting some target (a tree, a gravestone, an enemy) causes 1 frame lag every time. So hitting targets should be avoided as much as possible. Same goes for moving the flippers up and down, which causes lag if there's too much action going on (However, the lag is not noticeable, so it might look cool if the flippers moved in synch with the music.).

Probably not, unless someone wants to do it together with me. Someone should try to beat my movie. Any of these checkpoints may be improvable: Grave: 361 Gate: 1466 Ball re-launch: 1601

sad a short publish-worthy game and no one wants to bother perfecting it.

Updated: http://www.freewebs.com/aqfaq/pq1.fcm 1st set of skeletons destroyed at frame 1741 2nd set: 1999 3rd set: 2272 It's not perfect, but I have no motivation to improve it.
