Someone got 100% on Ocarina of Time (100 Gold Skultullas, all items including masks). The YouTube link is here. I definitely think this route can be optimized in TAS form, including: - Completing the shooting game and getting the fox mask in your first trip to Hyrule Market. I've got assembly to go to now, but more will come to me eventually. Anyone up for it besides GuanoBowl? I know I'm not *runs*.

At least everyone from SDA knows about this run, as it's being discussed there. It is not finished yet though. If someone will take the challenge to make a TAS of it, that would be interesting...

That "someone" is me, and I'm making the 100% run for SDA. The things you suggested aren't really timesavers... the first one maybe, but the second one doesn't work. You need to activate the Happy Mask side quest by Giving the letter to the guard in Kakariko Village. Edit: And it's called the "Keaton Mask".

a 100% run would be very intensive... on the one hand, I'd get to see all 6 temples, on the other it would be such a long run... I'm divided on this. is your SDA run going to be single segment? the multiple segment like in Majora's mask wasn't as fun to watch, and had to download 17 different vids, as compared to one AVI

I reckon that this run could take quite a while. The fastest way to get 100 gold skultulas would be to use the glitch outside hyrule castle but that would be dull. Perhaps a glitchless run should come before the 100% run. By that i mean all dungeons played.

Speaking of skulltulas, even though I almost managed to get them all (I got between 85-91 skulltulas) without looking at any guide or receiving help from anyone, I would first prefer to see a TAS for a all-medallion run. Dont get me wrong, I would love to see a 100% run :)

I've thought about a medallion run, but I'm not going through the process where it might turn out being "Whats the point in this run its slower and therefore more boring. Making it a poor choice to obselete the previous run, While you may have been faster in simalar areas, you chucked in an extra hour of boring stuff (i.e. Temples(Fire, Water, Shadow, Spirit))". I would need reassurance that, that wouldn't happen, then again I'd like not to skip the trials in Ganon's castle, but what would be the point if someone got a simalar time up until then and just used the tower skip. EDIT: I'll wait to see what Kazooie's run turns out like if he ever sucessfully gets it, and also to see if its enjoyable to watch. The target to beat would be somewhere around the 3:30 range. I personally think a 100% run is way to much to ask and wouldn't hold the intrest of the audience very well, even if someone was able to get a time of around 6 hours (650,000 re-records maybe). Two clipping glitches might be used and they are boss key skip in fire temple and hover up to elavator in Forest. This is complicated but check Yautja's video of it if you don't understand what I'm saying. Guano could use it in his run although it might not be practical to use, because of essential bombs needed later on. EDIT_2:

When making a TAS or Speedrun it usually makes more sence to do the fastest possible first, then followed by the longer ones via different catagories. Off the top of my head there must be roughly six catagories.

I have also thought about a medallion run and for the same reasons i never did it. However, from the sounds of things there is an interest out there for a run of this nature. Most should vote for the medallion run with trials rather than a run with medallions skipping the trials. Doing the medallions and skipping the trials would be very inconsistent play; moving from a glitchless run to a glitched one near the end.

Anybody who thinks like that havent clearly read his homework. If you would do a all-medallion run, it would most certainly be accepted (provided it aint a sloppy run) under the condition that it'll be accepted as a different category, no doubt.

Hope you got it by this post.

I completely agree with you. If you or someone else is planning to work on a all-medallion run, it basically means you are attempting to beat the game the way it was intended for us to complete it. Meaning and strongly recommended, NO skipping the trials in Ganon's castle.

Such run would most certainly would not get accepted. Why? We cannot have multiple categories for Ocarina of Time simply because one run completes all the temples and the trials in Ganon's castle whilst another does the exact same thing but skips the trials.

As far as I'm concerned, there are three legitimate categories for OoT, and this will probably be the case on TASvideos as well: Any% - Fastest time; the standard "anything goes" category. Any% Bottle Adventure - Version specific (works in 1.0 only) 100% - All inventory, equipment, and quest items. The following are NOT legitimate categories, IMHO, and I'll explain why: * "Minimalist" is too similar to the any% to warrant a separate category. The only difference is skipping the slingshot and bomb bag. * "All Medallions" is included within 100%. * You won't need BA for the 100% run for fairly obvious reasons. The trials skip in Ganon's Castle does not consitute a "severe glitch" because loading point glitches that operate under the exact same principle are abused elsewhere, like in the Graveyard when entering Shadow Temple. The trials skip is simply the most "visually obvious" example of glitch abuse. Also, don't you guys think that arguing "what the developers intended" is a bit debatable? I'm pretty sure they didn't intend players to do Shadow first. I'm pretty sure they didn't intend players to abuse crouching stabs, as the glitch was corrected in Majora's Mask. The closest you can get is the one and only official walkthrough, located at www.zelda.com/ocarina. This walkthrough includes getting maps and compasses from every dungeon, so you might as well collect them too since that's "what the developers intended." There is probably some degree of interest out there for a 100% OoT run, but certainly not anywhere near that of the any% runs. The game is way too long, for one, and is not action-packed. There will be a lot of tedium and viewers will get bored watching it.

I assume it would be judged the same as the other Zelda runs on the site, mainly ALTTP, and to a lesser extent, due to version differences, LA on the game boy. One run for fast as possible, and another fast as possible, but doing what was intended. In other words, I can not see an all medalion run not being accepted.

If you're going to do an all medallion run, I personally would much rather you follow the thought all the way through and make it a 100% run. The 100% run would include the whole All Medallions run plus other interesting stuff, so an All Medallions run alone is really not necessary.

I'm not even sure we need the any-percent-non-bottle-adventure. "Version specific" stuff typically hasn't been a huge issue here.

Yeah I'm not sure why the bottle adventure run would need to be seperate from the current any% run. Are you saying it would be classified as a "glitchy warps" kind of run, similar to most of the other zelda runs? I could write more on my opinion of this, but I'm not educated enough about what the bottle adventure specifically is to speak intelligently.

OK, one thing. The second deku nut upgrade is only available to get if you do it before you go into the future for the first time on v1.0 It requires the Mask of Truth.

Unfortunatley the run would be nothing like the intended way, the child adventure would more or less be a copy cat run of what Guano is doing. The adult route would follow something like this Shadow >> Forest >> Fire >> Water >> Spirit The Temple that would cause the greatest difficulty by far is the Fire Temple, because of the length and health issues. After all you need 5 hearts plus a fairy to survive the Volvagnia battle. Water would be the simpliest out of the lot because it would only take about 4-5 mins, since you don't need the longshot, then again there is the glitch to Volvagnia that allows you to skip the boss key.

a glitch less run... if you don't skip the trials then you should not bypass any other areas... as in in all areas with a locked door of some sort you must get the appropriate item to open said door rather then noclip through it.... or else you won't be keeping the run constant.

In the SDA run during the Volvagnia battle he goes to the edge of the playing field and, during the falling rocks sequence, grabs onto the ledge and waits. I'm pretty sure he didn't lose any hearts at all during that battle.

He had the Goron Tunic.

ah. Though I did just recently watch someone on youtube do the run without the goron tunic, and if he used the arrows more effectively (which can be done in TAS) and grabbed onto the ledge to avoid the rocks, it's doable. and grabbing the fairy in the bottle was not too much of a time waster, since it was on the way to the boss door in the first place. It takes 6-8 seconds for the fairy to heal you, much less than getting the tunic itself. Plus there were some nice shortcuts using the hover boots, bomb ground jumps and there's probably room for some bombhover glitching as well. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ebpOGMBX-M&NR

That someone is Kazooie, from SDA (although FluffyKitten uploaded the run). He's going for a single segment all medallions run, I think (to compete with TSA's <5 hour run, although it will be PAL). The run is VERY impressive considering it was a portion of a failed single segment attempt. Although I expect nothing more from Kazooie :).
