Yes vote! It was about time for this game to have a proper TAS. But it still deserves a run without this box glitch or maybe 105%.

I made a model that, yet a little hacky due to lack of testing, seems to work fine. There're a few debug prints that you can remove and I tested it without your hidden functions. At least one of them must include emu.frameadvance(), I guess. http://pastebin.com/5XftaV1c

Post your script so we can try to figure out a sane way of saving its state.

I'm in. Idea: people could upload their movies to the usefiles with the hidden property and share the link some time after the end of the challenge. This is to prevent A from stealing ideas from B. The time of the upload can be verified and cannot be changed. Or contestants can upload the file 2 minutes to midnight... Edit: Spikestuff - Today at 1:41 AM cough microstorage http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php cough

From your post it's not clear what you want. Do you want a sequence of screenshots with input display? Or a video with input display? In any case, this should do the job: 1) Go to the View menu and select what should appear on screen and where. 2) Go to File > AVI/WAV and select Capture OSD to make those drawings (and Lua drawings too) appear in the dumped video. 3) In the same place, go to Config and Record AVI/WAV. You can choose the video format and even the image sequence writer. 4) Go to Record AVI/WAV to start the job and to Stop AVI/WAV when you're done.

Kaizo Mario 3 had this (to advance the global frame counter): https://youtu.be/Mfd_yt0WSZc?t=16m19s And I remember some Megaman games having this feature too. I don't think it warrants a category.

is wrong based on my understanding of the problem, but I don't care to figure out the exact number. Edit: Close enough, but random trials (C++ program at http://pastebin.com/YDSWF9UR) appear to give a winning percentage of about 1.62%.
The flaw in the reasoning is pretty obvious if you consider a card with only 2 ranks (eg, ace and two) and only 2 suits. The Riddler website would say that we have 50% of probability to be wrong in the 1st card, 50% in the 2nd card, etc. The chance of winning would be (1/2)^4 = 1/16 However, by listing the possible outcomes: 1 1 2 2 lose 1 2 1 2 lose 1 2 2 1 lose 2 1 1 2 lose 2 1 2 1 win 2 2 1 1 lose win = 1/6 ≠ 1/16

How big was the uploaded file, and what was its resolution? Edit: Are you a general (non-pay) user, or a premium (pay) user?
Sorry, somehow I missed your reply. The file size is 570 MB. Resolution is 1440p for YouTube 720p.

Non-official games (hacks, homebrews, etc...) Non-official games are allowed for submission. However, they go through more scrutiny than other games. This is because the game itself also becomes a subject to judgment, so it must be a high quality and notable hack or homebrew with a strong following. The TAS should be high quality on its own merit, and must also show something interesting compared to other game(s) made on the same game engine, if applicable.
If this run is being rejected for not being 100%, I would apreaciate if the movie rules page is updated with such requirement.

What this means is unclear, but so far I verified that all movies are re-encoded at 30fps.
I uploaded a video some days ago. It definitely looks 60 fps to me. Just check the water level, where Mario changes its direction every other frame (~ 9:45). If I pause the video, it can be both right and left. On youtube and 30 fps, only one direction would be possible.

Yes vote. As this is a ROM hack, we have to evaluate both the game and the run. From what I've watched, the game has many different elements from Super Mario World, Super Demo World and The Second Reality Project. It's well designed and even has custom asm. The run is optimized and entertaining to watch. It's not those runs in which Mario flies over/below the level half of the time and barely touches other sprites. Even the Bowser fight is different from the traditional one.

@Lil_Gecko: thanks for the good feedback. I miss your SMW TASes, it's been a while. Good luck with Final Fantasy. @Zamasu: Actually, in the last years, speedrunners have been able to complete the main kaizo hacks. If you wanna watch absolutely impossible games, you should look for pit hacks.

They won't accept it, because of the hack's design. I tried the any% long time ago.

Ilari does not check TASvideos anymore. You should make those requests at Freenode, #lsnes channel, to have a chance. For now, I think BizHawk's memory search is much better, though some advanced stuff can be done with Lua in lsnes.

@Alyosha: I don't think registerwrite can detect changes in the controllers registers. However, one can use v. 1.11.6, for instance, and it will work.

As of version 1.11.9, this still happens:

Please, unless there's a major, noticeable and short time advantage, disabling the sounds or music in a game should not be allowed. This is the sort of thing that ruins even RTAs. And Crash 3's SFX/music is awesome.

Besides the annoying and unintuitive game-pak format, I've rapidly browsed the changelog of each version and there're seems to be no relevant update to bsnes core. It's mostly GUI stuff, other systems and filters. V.085 movies are already known to be console verifiable.

AFAIK, there's no way to do it. If you're inside a while true do end outside any function, simply use return or do return end. If there's any registered function in BizHawk, use event.unregisterbyname or event.unregisterbyid. os.exit() is not suitable for this, because it closes the emulator as well.
