Really great work! Obviously big yes vote. Only small (microscopical) downside of this wonderful movie is that races at Turbo Tunnel and in Surf City are completely skipped. I know it is not "warp" so formally rules are not broken but still it is slightly against spirit of "warpless" goal. In any case, it’s magnificent TAS and i really like it.

OK, I tried starting the run 1 frame sooner (which shifts ONE garbage block on the top row very slightly, as well as having different starting pieces) and built to the same shape, and am now 3 frames ahead! Hopefully more to come
Well if you can reach better time at other garbage pattern it is too big change. In case of success you free to make new submission without me and Baxter and i will cancel this one. By the way if you trying other patterns i highly recommend also to try start (press "T") at frame 304. This pattern has 58 blocks and so it required one tetramino less to complete.

Thinking about 999999 points, I notice the current submission uses Level 18 (which has 3 frames gravity instead of 2 frames) to be able to move horizontally enough near the top.
At first look it is counterintuitive but in reality level 18 start is definitely superior and by a lot margin. At level 19 is impossible to build really high so a lot of time wasted by free falling. In result on level 19 average time between spawn of next piece is 32.5 frames while on level 18 it is 28.6. Almost 4 frames per each piece. Also at level 19 is impossible to build "3 lines tetris" which is very significant. So start at level 18 is not a subject for discussion. It is only choice for TAS. P.S. Sent me your email adress in PM for our communication regarding Tetris project. Also question: do you prefer to work here on NES forum with publicly open discuission or to work secretly and keep details about improvement unknown until submission to make better surprise effect?

Alright, with your blessing I'll work on the resynced Mode B TAS soon.
One more thing. In theory with perfect tetromino sequence is possible to complete last 6 lines with one animation less than i used now, but i was not able to found good RNG to do so. Perfect sequence: L, T, (J, I, L, O, I, I)* "end of input" O, O. *In brackets possible to use some other tetromino variants which will lead to same end formation. Here picture: When you will resynced movie please also try to check this idea, perhaps with your new soft dropping technique you be able to find good RNG. One extra animation cost ~16-22 frames. So it worth to try eliminate it. ----

if there's a brand new board setup strategy figured out, I'm open to helping execute it.
Yes as i said earlier i figured out new strategy. In current TAS Acmlm played tetris like god. In the new TAS we will play tetris like devil. Acmlm not yet answered, so i dont know if he want to make new Tetris TAS or not. I can not say will he join team or not. Well of course would be great to have him in team since he already did bruteforcing Tetris 10 years ago. His experience is priceless. But in case if he will reject i think we be able to make decent improvement for a few seconds without him too.

There's no movie to replace it with yet; the soft dropping, and RNG manipulation, would have to be done from piece #1.
Go for it!

The "999999 points" TAS could be improved with this as well, but, the build options are so much more open-ended, I would hate to just resync the exact same piece order in that.
"Mode A" (aka fastest 999999) is another story. I have developed new advaced strategy for it. According to my calculations it is possible to save approximately 3-5 seconds over previous TAS. Even without yours new soft drops remanipulations. But to do it right it requre some bruteforcing. Unfortunately my own technical skills are not enough to do it properly. Yesterday i wrote invitation Acmlm to join team with me. In case he accepts my offer we will improve it. Now i start to think that it would be even better to have 3 people: Me (global strategy), Acmlm (bruteforcing), and you (soft dropping and RNG manipulation). Who know may be even sub 3 mins TAS can be done (or at least close to that mark).

@EZGames69 In case if you will successfully resync movie and gonna to finish this TAS please do not miss these three very important points: 1)At the Mad Hatter's table 3-4 is possible to skip one of lock screens completely. It will save about 10 seconds. 2)At the last screen of 4-1 amount of enemies that needs to be killed to finish this level is different every time. It is really strange place, sometimes hell a lot of them, sometimes just a several. I am 99% sure that with luck manipulation it should be possble to have complete absence of enemies and achive nearly instant victory. 3)At the end of autoscroller level just before final boss Mr. Freeze, is possible to manipulate to have a drop of two "charge items" with using them boss can be defeated really quickly.

Sad to confess but in last year there were 0% progress. My plans and reality for 2019 went in opposite directions... I had absolutely no time for TAS and don’t know when i can resume work. However i can not call it fullly abandoned. Flame of TAS in my heart is not yet extinguished. I still hope to come back one day to TASing, wear bat-costume once again and finish this project eventually. If this year i will fail to return to TASing again, well then i will give up everything to your hands EZGames69. Meanwhile i deeply apologize that project is freezed for so long time and i ask to wait yet longer. Sorry for such extroordinary long delay.

Nice run, espesially ladder-glitches which very cool. P.S. I also like ending of this game itself. Grant's hilarious pose at museum after destroying exhibit. Look like he tries to break 4rd wall as well.

I did the first two levels, if someone would like to compare this to the current publication (minus the time saved from using easy mode) that would be nice.
To be honest so far your WIP looks badly optimised.. I see that you even missed some important details from recent Tompa TAS. For example visually huge mistake at 1:28 when poor little lion is fall on ground. It was painful to watch :( --- For serious work i highly recommend you to create excel document with table of X-positions at every key pointts and amount of frames for these points from Tompa TAS. About 10-30 key points per level would be enough. And then carrefully compare your results with this data.

Actually I wouldn’t mind checking out the genesis version, but was holding off on it because you were planning on improving it yourself. Edit: also I would have asked if you wanted to work on it together but didn’t know if converting between gens and bizhawk would be easy.
Yes ineeed i wanted to improve genesis one day (next year or so). But if you want to take it now i will be really happy to pass this project to you. Gens/BH convertion is not so good for this game due to slightly different lags... so cooperation seems not real for us (we do not want to suffer with infinite re-synchr pain.) I belive that you can complete this project with highest quality standard enough even without me :) Good luck at becoming king!

Since the only relevant differences in hard mode is boss health being larger, I wonder if it’s worth it to play the tas in easy mode or default mode rather than hard mode. Is there any obligations to this? I want to make sure people are cool with it before I attempt this.
Actually it is a good question. Long repetetive fights against hyenas is not too interesting. So guidelines justify choice of easy mode for such cases. Of course not everyone will be happy with this, "be prepare" to recive a several no votes from them. But logic is on your side => go easy. P.S. Also take Genesis version pleeeeease!

A few days ago i to wanted to practice mental math calculation (just for fun) and found this nice site to do it: https://www.mathtrainer.org/ Each time when you sovle mental math problems in an acceptable amount of time you go level up. There are 100 levels in total. Every next level will slightly more difficult than previous. Starting from incrdibly easy in beggining and became extreemly difficult close to the end. So it is kind of videogame with 100 levels :) I wonder what maximum level you can get there?

If consider this run as "All Doors" category - this goal is completed all doors were visit. So formally Flip is right, it is absurd to take longer route for stage 1. But i also agree with Espyo, skipping stage 1 is against spirit of "All levels"... To solve this contradiction would be nice to hear Memory opinion (as a judge) whether to skip stage 1 or not.
