The artists behind the soundtrack are the famous Geoff Follin and Tim Follin, who happen to be on the top side of my favourite NES music composers list.
You can also hear their work in Solstice and Silver Surfer, among a couple of other games.
It's just a shame that they didn't buy more songs from them for this game.

Unfortunately, this technique doesn't have as many uses as I initially thought.

(But I'm quite sure I'm the first player in the world who manages to kill Rockman at *that* spot, or even in that room!)

It's about the time we discover some Balloon tricks!
So what happens here is another application of the trick discussed in the Mega Man 3 thread.

No sliding in those games. But yes, it might allow getting some extra length for zipping in some circumstances :o
Edit:Well, of course it seems a bit slow because it's a proof of concept, a demonstration! It's not a timeattack video.
But when applied properly in the context, yes, it's faster.
Edit 2: See for yourself:

And how it works:
Find a spot that looks like this:
####
....
##..
(# = wall, . = not wall)
Slide through the tunnel. At the point where the road broadens (the ceiling must be on the same level), face left and take a hit. It allows Mega Man to zip through the wall for some length.
This works in Mega Man 3, 4 and 5. Maybe in Mega Man 6 too.

Timings.
Between starting the Bubbleman level (frame of gaining control) and ending the first scene (frame the screen starts scrolling vertically), the timings are:
* Baxter's movie, no special weapons: 875 frames
* Bisqwit's test, with item 2 launched in the beginning: 840 frames
*Bisqwit's test 2, with item1 trick, using item1 to avoid the frogs: 958 frames
Of course, it's not wise to use item1 to avoid the frogs. One should switch the weapons later, not there. I was just being lazy. Therefore, I made a comparison video.
* Bisqwit's test 2b, without item1 trick, using item1 to avoid the frogs: 976 frames (amazing! the lag amounts to almost two seconds of time.)
So the trick saves about 20-30 frames.
I still don't have an exact figure how much item2 saves.
All numbers are within precision of +/- 1 frames.
Edit: CoolBumpty, the idea of course is to start falling at the same frame the platform starts falling. This is accomplished by walking past it at the right edge. This prevents the platform from falling out of Rockman's reach.
When you want to jump, just face left and then hold A at the same frame Rockman gains foothold. You can throw the Item at the same frame you press left, and it will be thrown to the right.

We already accept that kind of movies. But we urge everyone to use the other tools too, because it helps creating better videos. Movies that don't use frame advance have no advantage over those that do.
If you are suggesting forming a new category for movies that only use savestates as tools... Well, not going to happen.
Let's go with the technical reason: there's no way to prove that slow speed was not used in the production of the movie.

This movie will of course be published, but I hope that Dehacked does the AVI encoding, because I don't yet have tools to do it for dual movies.
However, for creating the movie entry on the website, my help is needed because this one breaks the regular format.

I changed the way levels are numbered and created a manual warp command.
The problem is that the levels aren't in an order of linearly increasing difficulty.
Rather, they're grouped in "phases", each containing a set of 5 levels in increasing difficulty.
Thus, level 3-5 is a lot harder than level 4-1, for example.
For comparisons, the old level 8 is now number 2-4, and level 13 is 3-4.
EDIT: As for window scrolling... Sorry about that. You need to make your browser window taller so that it won't scroll.
EDIT 2: I reorganized the window a bit so that it should work better on smaller resolutions.

It seems Finalfighter has found more techniques:
http://www.yuko2ch.net/rockman/bubblete.mpg -- another zipping technique in the Bubble Man level using Item1.
Also, this page describes a technique that was used in the published movie, which I didn't notice: http://www.yuko2ch.net/rockman/tenmetsuup.htm
More interesting stuff can be found at this new site of his: http://www.yuko2ch.net/rockman/
The "Rockman Exiles 2" movie at the site might be an interesting demonstration of tricks used in an elaborately hacked version of Rockman 2.

I'm glad you do, but please realize that the submission queue is for movies that are to be considered as material that will be published on this site.
To accomplish that goal, you need to follow the Guidelines.
If you are lazy and don't care, then your movies will be rejected and they are not welcome to the submission queue, for they take away the valuable time of the judges who could instead concentrate on publishing the awesome movies instead.
Do you understand?
Then by all means, go on and record it, but keep it to yourself. When you start flooding my site with incompetent movies that you haven't really put effort in, you're getting on my (and other people involved) nerves.
In other words, quantity does not compensate for quality.
Well yes you do. That's part of the entertainment you are talking about.
If you don't intend to, you can use your own site instead of mine.
Having said all of that, I wish to congratulate GuanoBowl for having submitted at least one good movie, even though by now it's obsolete.
I'm now rejecting this submission for the following reasons:
- It can be done a lot faster, as explained by Foda earlier in this thread.
- It is slower than the existing submission, which was also rejected.
- The game is very boring to watch.
