I have an old KeyTronic keyboard, but apparently it isn't old enough since it stops working if I hold down d, f and g Gaah, now I gotta find me a perfect keyboard. You ruined everything...!

Uh... wow, 13 platinums? I got maybe 5 or something. Yeah, the platinums were super duper ridiculusly hard to get.

I have an N64 and I think I might still have my BlastCorps cart floating around somewhere(edit: just found it), but I'm too lazy to make a speedrun. Besides, even if I did, that speedrun would surely suck. And of course, I don't have a capture card (though I've been wanting to get one for a while). Also, how do you define the end of this game anyway? Would the speedrun end once all the red truck levels were completed? There was a ridiculus amount of 'bonus' levels, racing levels, etc. Should all three scientists be found? Where would it end? The game has no clearly defined end on it. Only once you've gained a gold medal for all levels, including for all the diffferent planets, and found all scientists can the game truly be considered "finished", though there are some things that can be done even after that.

Does Mac OSX support USB gamepads? If it does, I see no reason why these would be any different. Of course, I know absolutely nothing about any Mac OS so if this post was incredibly stupid, please ignore it...

Hah, that reminds me when I had played Megaman 4 a lot, but wasn't very good at it. I always had to use about 2 or 3 E-tanks for Ringman. Then one day, as I watched, a my friend beat Ringman with just the regular weapon, whithout taking a single hit! Remember this was on a real NES console. I was like WTF!!! How is that possible!! My delusons of me being decent at that game were shattered that day...

Way to increase post counters :)
I try not to do it much, but sometimes I just can't resist. Edit: oh and in order to make this post not completely useless, they've found a way around the stamina thing. It turns out if you sprint and jump, then release sprint, you keep the speed in your jump but don't waste stamina. So I guess a speedrun will contain lots and lots and lots of jumping...

Doing it on a real N64 is the best way to go, since it won't be tool-assisted anyway. There's no re-recording emulator for N64 on any OS as far as I know. I'm not sure how exactly people do this but I think they just play the game while recording it to a VCR, then afterwards use a capture card to transfer it into computer-compatible files, then encode it with whatever codecs and stuff is best (xvid). Of course, if you want to do this you need a (decent) capture card.

Sure, it could be fun to watch if it isn't too long. If no one else does, I will at least watch it.

Quattro Adventure doesn't work in Famtasia. At least I think so. I get this when I try to run it: mapper #232 isn't supported. Send me tech infos, I will support this mapper. Is that the same garbled rom header thing or is it really not working? Or just a bad rom? I've tried several different versions, but they all give me the same thing. The closest I've gotten to running it is in one of blip's hacked famtasias, I got the menu in the beginning (it is a 4-game cart) but once I select some game it stops working. At some point I intend to timeattack Super Robin Hood from that cart, but I will use FCEU for that (which is massively superior in every possible way by the way).

I guess it is kinda expensive (especially if you have it shipped to a country in a galaxy far far away), but I'm seriously thinking about getting two of those SNES controllers, they would rock soooooo much. You get what you pay for, right? But they only take Pay-Pal so I'm kinda afraid to do it. You do know if you get unlucky, Pay-Pal can swallow you money, right? Of course, I do not even have a credit card so that could be a problem, though I could borrow someone's and just pay them the money... If someone buys one of these, please post here and tell us how they work or if you got screwed over, etc.

Wow, I watched Blechy's 100% run, it was awesome! Very well done. The last minute or two were a bit boring since it was just "boss appears, boss gets owned, boss explodes for two minutes" over and over again but of course that wasn't Blechy's fault! :)

There are two Gradius 3 runs, one that kills all enemies and one that only kills bosses. (At least I think so, I haven't watched either of them.) Which one are you talking about? In my run, I only take speed upgrades because the only things I ever kill are the bosses anyway, and those can be easily killed with one or two mega-charged shots. Someone else can do a 100%kills run, which would also be faster since there wouldn't be any slowdown. By the way, I have decided to start again because of the mistake I made. I also kill the first boss way faster now.

Well, you could use a non-sucky emulator called FCEU. There's a patched version with rerecording floating around somewhere. But it isn't supported on this site as far as I know (why not, though?) so you couldn't submit it.

During normal play, the stamina isn't a huge issue, but in a speedrun it is going to be extremely annoying.

No, you need a certain amount of missles to be able to kill the red thingies blocking the way to the end boss. Also you need at least 3 energy tanks for the ultra kill beam of death the end boss uses.

No, Doom 3 is very un-speedrun-friendly. Normally you walk dreadfully slow. You can dash, but you have very limited stamina. But I'm sure it will be speedrunned anyway, it's just a matter of time. There might be a few nifty shortcuts but I don't think there are many because there's no rocket/grenade jumping. But I can forsee monster-cannoning, that is letting monsters run into you and getting a boost from that, because some of them really seem to be able to throw you a great distance. So anyone want to make bets on how long it'll be? I say it'll be 2 hours long.

Okay, I did it again on PRO difficulty (same download link). Same style, no enemies killed except the speed-powerup-giving one. First level only. I'll do more levels later but I really would like to know if this first level is any good. Should I kill some enemies to prevent slowness? Should I even kill all enemies?

Oh. I didn't even know about another difficulty level. I guess I'll use method B and start again (when I'm bored enough).

I've been waiting for someone else do do this, but since no one seems to be interested I decided to go ahead and give it a try. It's in the same style as the Gradius movie we've all seen and enjoyed. Current progress: just finished level 3 http://www.mmedia.is/shodan/files/SuperRType(J).smv Edit: I did it again on "pro" difficulty (by using a cheat code). The download link is the same but the file is now different. Edit: Okay, I've now finished level 3 but I found out you can skip the short score sequence at the end of each level. Should I start over, keep going and skip it from this point on or keep going and not skip (for consistency's sake)?

The 30-minute movie will get rejected eventually (it is still in the submission pile) since I've made a 27 minute one, but I haven't submitted that one because it is very flawed in some areas. I'm going to make a better version some day, probably using FCEU instead of crappy old Famtasia (will FCEU ever be supported on this site by the way?).

I watched it, and it was very nice. I liked the hoarding of holy water right where a boss appears, killing them almost instantly sometimes. :) The inside-the-wall glitch in level 1 was cool, can't it be invoked anywhere else? Anyway good job.

Well, there's a very cool movie of this game, so it is definately theoretically possible...
