I've been wondering about this. What skills and knowledge does one need to learn to be able to code an emulator, or at least understand what is going on in the source code? Do you need to be a computer scientist or a software engineer to be able to do that? Could someone post a list, in order of importance, of topics that one needs to learn to be able to get involved in making emulators? Thanks.

Ok, I found the problem. It was my media players. The videos look great now. Thanks everyone. BTW, this is a great emulator.

Have you played the actual video, instead of taking screenshots?
How can I take screenshots without playing the video?
Never mind. Time to install Bizhawk.

Yeah, that's x1 size. There's nothing going on there.
That's weird. I've played the AVI in multiple media players, and in each one of them it has bilinear filtering applied. The dumped AVI files from lsnes look perfect in the same media players. I'll try Bizhawk.

Can you upload a clip somewhere? File hosting, not streaming service.
I'll upload a short clip soon.

Are you watching at 1x zoom?
No, I've set the window size X and Y multiplier at 4X. But I've also saved the AVI with the default X and Y values (1,1), and the dumped AVI still looks filtered. How do I remove the filtered look?

Which version of CamStudio Lossless Codec are you using? Does it happen with other codecs, too?
I'm using CamStudio Lossless Video Codec v1.5. Yes, it happens with other codecs too (Lagarith, Huffyuv). I'm using the latest version of FCEUX (v2.2.3, Win32).

Then something is messed up with my settings. When I dumped AVI in other emulator (lsnes), the video looks perfect.

Use a lossless codec http://tasvideos.org/EncodingGuide/CustomEncoding.html
I always use a lossless codec. In this case, I used CamStudio Lossless Codec.

When I play a game in FCEUX, the image looks great -- nice, clean pixels. However, when I save the recording to AVI format, the video looks blurry, like it has bilinear filtering applied. How do I get a nice, clear AVI video in FCEUX? Here are my video settings: ru image host[/img]

Hi everyone, I'm new to TASVideos. I was wondering what kind of TAS videos should I make to be able to submit to forums? Specifically, am I allowed to make TAS Videos where the goal is (hopefully) entertaining gameplay, instead of aiming for high-scores or fastest completion time? What about games for which TAS videos have already been posted before? Are we allowed to post TAS videos of games for which somebody already made a TAS video? Thanks.

I'm a newbie and have just downloaded lsnes. When I play a SNES game, how do I record my controller input, so I can play it back later? Thanks.
