And another 2005 movie bites the dust, I see?
It's actually a 2004 movie (old run was published over seven years ago), so it's even better.

Thank you for providing a temporary encode. And I like the submission text. Great improvement! Good job improving a 2004 movie! Yes vote.

Well, I watched the run on that old VBA version, and I have to agree with MUGG that the autoscrollers are too many and too uninteresting. But the rest of the run was pretty good, so I'm voting Meh.

Which VBA did you use? In VBA24-M, the movie doesn't go past setting the difficulty. In VBA23.5, the first level appears to sync fine, then Luke kills himself in Stagecoach.

I remember this game to be more fun than this looked like. Maybe I'm thinking of a different game (but I know it was a Lucky Luke one for gameboy).
You could be thinking of GBC Lucky Luke: Desperado Train.

I did not know that. Interesting. Nice run, FractalFusion! And thank you for the temporary encode(s)! Yes vote.

This run appears to use death to save time.
Apparently they forgot to note that in the submission text, but they included it as a tag in the publication. As long as that is correct, there is no need to update the submission text (especially since more than a year has passed since this was published).

Here is the SDA run record for this game on Adventure mode (I don't know whether it's any% or 100%). After watching the SDA run, I have to say this game looks a lot like Crash Nitro Kart for PS2/GC. In fact, I think Crash Nitro Kart might be a remake of this game; I guess that means there's no need to TAS CNK. I agree with Warepire too. Hardest difficulty, hardest AI, worst character, winning easily. Like this Top Gear 2 run.

OK, what read-only mode is supposed to do is load a savestate so that the movie will play back instead of continuing to record. In read-only mode, a savestate becomes a point that you can start playing back your movie from without recording over it. When read-only mode is turned off, then loading a savestate will always continue recording from that point, and record over anything after that point. It's late here, so I hope I'm being clear. Otherwise, the link blahmoomoo posted should be helpful.

Yeah, read-only mode for savestates still hardly works at all. The only time it does is when playback (not recording) of a movie file has passed the point where your savestate is (which doesn't help at all). I really need a way to stop recording, load a savestate from 2 minutes earlier, play back my movie to make sure it synced, and continue working. If read-only mode is fixed, I won't have to start replaying the movie file from the beginning every time (and since my movie will be over 5 hours long, that would eventually take over 15 hours at 35% speed [hardly an option]). So, unless someone knows of a way to get read-only mode to replay the movie from a past loaded savestate without waiting for the movie to play to that point, I would really appreciate it. Otherwise, I really need someone to please implement a fixed read-only mode into Dolphin.

The protagonist of this game reminds me of the boy from A Boy and His Blob. I guess they have similar sprites. Voting Yes to this impressive improvement!

Personally, I find going straight to the end more entertaining because it provides an even bigger "broken" feel. I suppose a bonus game Yoshi's House is pretty crazy too, but skipping the whole thing would leave a lasting impression on the viewer.
I think going to the The End screen is better too, not only because it's faster, but also because, as you said, it gives the run more of a "broken" feel. The Yoshi's house "Thank You" and enemy info isn't that entertaining without music anyway.

Give me this hack NOW! :D
Speaking of cool hacks, I've been playing this one and it's really great. Basically, it's Super Mario 64, with Kirby instead of Mario, and other small modifications, like the voice, green shell, and Copy Abilities instead of caps. Link to video

Your URL is missing the word "watch".
Yeah, apparently the link I posted became invalid after about a few hours, since YouTube just changed a lot of things on the site yesterday, and apparently a URL without "watch" is no longer valid. That means most of my links to YouTube videos on this site don't work anymore (I usually remove "watch" because it makes the link shorter and used to be unnecessary).

I find Masterjun's stylistic choices better in his run, but is it faster to jump to the The End screen or the Thank You screen (with enemy info following it)?

I believe the dtm files for dolphin act quite different from the other movie files; they are hexadecimal files, instead of .txt Anyway, with dedication I am now able to edit .dtm files efficiently. But I have to say that it's still hard, because I have to work with numbers from 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 to FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF as input, and the frame number also is an hexadecimal number that doesn't seem to represent the in-game number of frames. Also, if I am to edit a DTM file, I can't make a file any longer just by editing it with HxD. I have to go in-game and wait for the .dtm to get longer by itself, THEN I can add, let's say, 10 seconds of copy pasted input.
That's great! And thanks for posting this. I know it will help me if I ever have to edit my movie file.

At least HxD is able to read it. It must be the .dtm format that makes it unreadable in Notepad, Notepad++, and DeHackEd's Microstorage. Do you think the .dtm format will eventually be updated with a more edit-friendly file format?

I noticed that many non-native English speakers apologize for their use of English in help posts online. I wish such people knew that readers who correct their English are not doing so because they are upset by the mistakes, but rather because they had a difficult time understanding what they were trying to say at first and had to arduously work through their meaning.
I agree. If we can convey this to non-native English speakers who have a good grasp of the language, and direct the ones that have real trouble with English to the appropriate forum for the language that they speak, we can help all of them.

I am still wondering about why Movie #666 was skipped.
I think it should be obvious that the site was coded to skip it. Would you want one of your movies to be publication number 666? Or the skip was just a random server error. Also, I agree with Warp. I used to think that the publication numbers told how many publications were really on the site, and I would try to figure out why new submissions get much higher numbers than new publications. It would be nice to know how many movies have been published since the site's beginning, but I didn't even know these errors existed, or how often they occurred.
