Adding savestates and slow-motion requires a giant work with game code. I'm not familiar with Midtown's modding and how mighty its API is, but I think it's gonna be a hardcore thing, even for an open-source project, like OpenMM1. I think it doesn't worth any efforts. Windows TAS emulator is the thing we should dig into, so we would be able to TAS a big variety of Windows games, including Midtown Madness.

I realize I'm making this post quite some time since this TAS submission was cancelled, however at least 20 seconds can be saved by jumping in the water immediately after acquiring the clues in the 9th & F and 9th & J pier stages, since doing so ejects you from the stage but still gives you credit for getting the clue. I also realize this is probably not enough of a time saver to justify creating a new TAS for it, but I figured it was still worth mentioning.
1 frame is already an improvement. Thank you for mentioning this!

Even though my meals taste delicious, I don't like cooking. I spend a lot of time preparing ingredients and often use timers for boiling (or even roasting) processes, since I don't really know when to stop it. And even if there exists a visual condition for it, I abuse it. For example, boiled potatoes get overstubbed with my fork by the end of boiling process. Such things as salt, species, mayonnaise and other additives people usually add by eye (with no exact measure) are usually a failure for me because I often add too much of it. And I don't like videos named "Tasty Pizza in 10(15) minutes". I open it and I see the cheese grated, the sausage chopped and all other ingredients ready to spill on the dough and put in the oven. Darn! I spent 2 hours on cooking then. Yeah, it was well-made, but it certainly doesn't worth the time. Sushi. Ah, another meal that takes infinity to cook. 3 hours and 800 UAH out. Sushi-bar offered a similar meal at ~550 UAH then. No way I'll ever do it again! God, bless our women for their patience and countless time allots!

No. The multi-player mode isn't really something you'd TAS, it is more of a party style thing. There are more events, but you play one at a time and just compare results. You aren't competing against a CPU like you are in single player
I don't see any competition against a CPU either. Everything here is just to make CPU finish each track as fast as possible.

Won't a 2P TAS be faster, like in Track 'N Field?

Do the profiles actually work? I switched my profile from Casual Gaming to TAS and all it does is switch NES core from QuickNES to NesHawk. But all other cores stay the same! Does Snes9x the best choice for TASing? mGBA vs VBA-next? And so on. I reopened Bizhawk (2.4.2) and switched the profile to Casual Gaming. All the same, excepting for NES cores.

Why is there no news about Bizhawk 2.4.2 release?

I know. Why there is no announcement on the front page? I see the one about 2.4.1, but not about 2.4.2. I have got used to that news window and now 2.4.1 cuts my eye, like 2.4.2 isn't really supposed to be used.

1. Don't use a mod. I think it's reasonable to call it "No Damage" if the only damage taken is required at the VERY end of the game. This is similar to the Swordless Zelda 1 challenge where one is required to get the sword towards the end of the game in order to actually defeat the final boss. 2. If an invulnerability powerup is active, you are by definition, not taking damage. If it was "no hits" run, then it might not be acceptable. 3. Can't say for certain whether or not people would find it entertaining. Only way to determine is through submission really.

RAM Search and RAM Watch show incorrect changes of 2-byte addresses (Bizhawk 2.4.2) After the Search is done, if I make it change, it's "Changes" counter keeps increasing constantly. Here I found health addresses of Cacodemons in SNES Doom and blasted one of them. The "Changes" value shows not how many times I blasted it, but how many frames have passed since it's first change. If I run around doing nothing, it still keeps increasing. https://imgur.com/5RWt61V Should I post it on GitHub, or it's not a bug?

Hello, glad to see the interest. I'm preparing them for submission right now but there's a couple of questionable moments 1. End of E1M8. This entire movie tetralogy was meant to be a proof of concept, and it ended up proving that it's not possible to finish the game without taking damage. You're obligated to have 20%> health in order to finish E1M8, so the only way to make it fall under the "no damage" category is to use a mod that removes all health pickups and sets player's HP to 1. 2. Getting damage with an invulnerability powerup. Technically it's still damage, but the player doesn't lose health. All damage effects, such as momentum, still affect the player, and i used an enemy attack to increase my speed one time. What do you think about it? 3. Is it worth it after all? It's the first movie in the category, merely a proof of concept.
Ladies and gentlemen, what do you think about those future Ultimate Doom submissions?

1) Make a couple of different savestates, i.e. occupy additional slots. 2) Sign them the way you want in your notebook or list, like "Savestate #5 is the end of level 3". If a lot of keys are assigned already, you can make a savestate and clear the hotkey for it. Then reassign the key to load that savestate again. 3) Start the movie in Read-only mode and load the wished savestate (a.k.a loadstate). Your movie will play from that point till the end of your input. 4) When you got to a wished moment, set to Read+Write mode, make another savestate where you want to continue, load it and here you continue your movie.

Nice to see someone is trying to improve this obscure game. Lagging is fine. Most console cores produce more lags for more accurate emulation. So, don't be afraid if a perfectly done room is slower because of lags. BTW, lag reduction is a honorable deed. Did you try to skip 1 or 2 frames before entering a room to get better RNG?

I have made a 100% Nightmare TAS that beats the whole game in less than 1 hours. It's a fanmade movie, not the fastest possible and there are some minor mistakes. Link to video User movie #63404054620389365

Wow. Finally, someone has made an improvement! What about that weird glitch shown in AVGN's video when Rambo falls through the bottom of the screen and gets to a completely different location? I'm wondering if it can save even more time.

PCSX2 1.6.0 has been released. https://pcsx2.net/293-pcsx2-1-6-0-is-out.html TAS Tools are disabled for now to fix some issues. I hope we'll get them back in 1.7.0 and another platform will become more open for TASing. Regardless of its possible disadvantages, I wanna spend some time on some popular games.
