I noticed the run for this game on the "runs to improve from 2004/2005" pages, and given the gameboy fanatic that I am I checked it out a bit. My attempt at a lua script http://pastebin.com/ZXK3NxJG What it does: Display enemy HP (it's a bit buggy though) X/Y pos, X cam, RNG, life count, HP, HP bar, lag count (because VBA's is inconveniently offscreen) X cam might be buggy due to the way I implemented it, but whatever. Probably I'm going to check the game out further and might even try to make a TAS. EDIT: Added Xspeed. Jumping speed is faster (234) compared to walking speed (200) so the run is improvable.

If some more TAS videos appear for that category I can add a new section, likewise with "Btt fastest suicide", "Btt left/right/top/bottom suicide", "HRC no bat allowed", etc. etc.

Nice, but... I can't seem to be able to load any savestates with 24m svn 391. Folder "saves" is in the emulator directory, but whenever I save a state it wouldn't actually place any files in that folder and in the menu "load state" has all entries grayed out. Was a temporary problem, it's fixed now mysteriously.

Took care of that, thanks for notifying. How is your Fox Allstar TAS coming along?

Just wanted to note that VBA-24-m's lag counter doesn't work with GB Kung-Fu Master. Should be possible to bypass this problem by using lua to check if the character moved during a frame, but still.. EDIT: Slowed down emulation is still present in the latest vba 24 svn version. (...). I added an issue for it here. The problem seems to happen if a certain unknown condition is met. Once that happens, every subsequent saving and loading of a state will result in slowdown of the emulation. Here is a demonstration: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sbLuPvgP8SM

You managed to make the run even crazier than it already was, and at the same time you removed the irritating camera angles from the previous run. Easy yes vote here.

I know we tested the OoB area quite a lot back when we found how to access it. I had another look at it recently, just for fun. Basicly, I went OoB at the same spot in the second level as in the TAS, then I went leftwards for 40,000 frames, crushing blocks on the way. Once I had the graphics mess up slightly, and once I had coins spawn in places where they actually aren't in the next level. I still couldn't locate what part of memory I'm actually in, for example when crushing a pot, only a part of memory changes that's responsible for the screen rendering but the actual level doesn't seem to be found anywhere in the memory... Well, I'm still just checking this out since there may be possibilities for further glitching as was the case with SML2.

I moved the record list on the previous page to the wiki. I might make a GameResources page for this game too.

TAS Ranking 2011, June Account Account (German) Free It was uploaded by アルファルド (arufarudo). Is Kagemitsu not working on them anymore, or is he taking a break?

I wouldn't wait for the perfect message, seems arbitrary to me. Save time wherever you can.

An honest question... How do you know which emulator is emulating the OoB areas correctly and which is incorrect? Do you have a gold standard emulation for comparison, or can this be re-created by hand on a Game Boy?
Unfortunately, we can't test this on the real console. Not only don't I have any WL2 catridge to begin with, but the wall clip would be near impossible to do. Your position has to be right (1 out of ~10 pixels is correct), then dashjump towards the wall, jump in the correct moment, face the other direction at the correct frame, and press the other direction only for 1 frame. I don't have a cheat device either and there's probably not even any codes that allow you to enter walls, I think. So that having been said, klmz considers Gambatte's architecture superior to VBA's. And VBA-24-m's out of bounds sections are the same as Gambatte's. That's why we consider out of bounds glitches legitimate (unless someone comes along and proves them illegitimate. I would be surprised to see it happen).

Of all the suggestions the 1 error screenshot is my favourite. It also nicely fits with the publication message.

Yes, use resets please. I would be even more in favor of it if there's a button combination allowing you to reset the game (like in Kirby Super Star it's L+R+S+s). Also, I told nxcy already but I wouldn't mind using glitch warps to save time.

* All submissions movie file ZIP would currently be about 33MB.
After reading, I felt like looking up Desert Bus' file size since I recalled it being rather huge. Was only 2MB though.. :)

Latest WIP http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1539716031/wl2tas.vbm Improved your version by 118 frames. Good luck on the final boss... I'm going to try to find an RNG address. You probably noticed that pausing the game at different times manipulates luck differently, and such an address probably affects the final boss (it calls for it every few frames, i.e. depending on what Wario does every few frames (or in the worst case, every frame), he slows down or keeps running...). EDIT: Had no success so far trying to find any addresses. We only know: - Luck is frame dependent (break a box at a different frame for example) - Pausing the game at different frames affects luck differently (coins may appear or may not appear depending on when you paused the game) - Not so sure about this, but apparently the RNG runs during lag frames

I couldn't find any GB version, neither for (U) nor (J). I tested the (J) GBC version earlier today and it wasn't any better than (U) GBC. The deprecated WIP doesn't do any glitching in the spear man stage, so it is fine. Latest WIP http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/654925334/wl2tas.vbm

Yes, the part that is located east/south-east from the last room (see here) seems different. I may look at it again later, but I doubt I can find anything useful... Did you test both of the (J) ROMs yet?
