I made a WIP of Kirby Squeak Squad which completes the first world a year ago on 0.9.4+ (with Fast-Fetch Execute enabled to remove emulation lag). It was said that 0.9.5 removes this lag as well, but I had problems with this version and now I don't want to change the emulator and begin from scratch. Now I want to continue my WIP, but I can't load nor save any savestate. "Error save to x Slot" "Error load from x Slot" It worked perfectly fine on Windows XP, but now it doesn't on Windows 7. Help please, thanks in advance...

[TAS] カービィのブロックボール ステージ3まで (WaddleDXsp) I haven't played this game but I'm posting this for everyone to see.

I have been following all the TASes on nicovideo, but this movie surpasses everything I have seen. Derakon's suggestion turned out to be pretty neat here. The downside would be that level 1 and level 3 are identical. The input animation was nice to see, but personally I don't care about it much. Sometimes it wasn't in sync with the sound effect which sometimes is Youtube's/nicovideo's fault. I think the only way to maybe improve this movie is to find a way to avoid death. Maybe we can also find a good way to speed up levels with repeated patterns that come down from the ceiling (for a full run). I may look into it.

Yes, the maps found here state that the pattern repeats once, beginning from stage 6. I think you are right about this game being unsuitable. However, personally, I would still be interested in seeing a full TAS.

I didn't really enjoy watching this video. Probably mainly because I'm not familiar with the game. I would like to see a full Alleyway TAS (did you make that improvement?) though I'm not sure if that would get accepted.

Yeah, that was a rather general suggestion. I know of at least one NES game that had a translation patch which synced with a movie I made on the J ROM (nekketsu soccer league).

I recall there being a pipe glitch in Super Mario Land (2?) for the GB that was exploited at first, but was soon discovered to be an emulator glitch (not quite sure what the details were; perhaps the glitch caused a hardware fault, but the emulator didn't freeze like the hardware would have). In any case, the pipe glitch was forbidden from use and that is how we have our current run.
Read here for the details. http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=131475#131475 I think that if a run is made using the (J) ROM and it syncs on the translation patch, then it should be allowed. Perhaps we could just use subtitles (but who would put subtitles into a 6 hour TAS?)...

I can now confirm the glitch I posted above. It works on the Japanese version only. EDIT: I Investigated it and it seems the slope in the video is the only slope in the game this glitch works on (it probably only works on thin slopes). This is not useful for speedrunning.

TAS = TAS like in task (with a short a) TASing = Taysing TASer = Tayser But I never ever said TAS in reallife. Perhaps I once referred to it as tool-assisted speedruns, but not as TAS.

http://dic.nicovideo.jp/v/sm10718767 This video features a glitch where you clip through a slope. I wasn't able to reproduce it on the (E) and (U) ROM. On these two ROMs you can't bump into walls in the out-of-bounds area as in the video. I want to try it on the (J) ROM but it would be great if I could get my hands on a complete .sav file for it first.

Link The screen scrolls one pixel further than it should. Can probably not be exploited, but who knows. The TAS is now at level 5. I saved about 19 seconds so far. Link

Here's something related to Super Mario Sunshine. Anybody know of a glitch where you can go a through a building into a bottomless pit? It happened to me once and I died. But maybe it can be used to get to certain places. Anybody know ANYTHING about that?
You should try to contact NintendoG8mer. He knows about some neat (OoB) glitches.

I managed to bring up the debug menu in snes9x 1.43 with the Japanese ROM. It seems a lot easier with this ROM. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XOCCVsNcsPA Thanks to pirohiko's testing on a real console we know that the console behaves like 1.43. Unfortunately the glitch can't be recorded on smv due to desynching errors! The outcome that is played back is different, but stays the same for every upcoming attempt of playing back. So sadly, no new TAS can be made at this point of time. Also we still need to try the glitch in 1.51 (J ROM) and on bsnes.

Since this proved useful in the GBA version: can any cutscenes be skipped by using reset?

TAS playaround compilation http://nicovideo.jp/watch/sm10706561 (with nico video account) http://dic.nicovideo.jp/v/sm10706561 (without nico video account) There are many SSB64 TASes floating around the internet, but this compilation was rather amusing to watch and is also long (10 minutes).
