Yes, but I assume they did the same thing with the Gamecube. And yet, the gamecubed emulators is more accurate than the N64 ones. So that means that it's not only no information, but also the coding process... I think?

Why do all the N64 emulators suck so much? It's hard to believe that even a wii emulator could be better as of now. Shouldn't an N64 be easier to emulate?
It's more a question of interested developers who cares about accuracy and sync-stability. The N64 isn't a system that interests this kind of developer in great numbers, which is sad, but that's how it is. There is a project called CEN64 that aims to be both correct and cycle accurate, but it's developed by a single person, which slows down progress.
From what I recall, Ilari told me that the N64 is programmed in a way that is much harder to emulate, or even do a game than a Gamecube. It's not a question of power of the console, it's a question of coding headaches. Warning: I may be wrong, someone would need to valid my statements.

Keep in mind that entertainment is the only factor in the votes. :o) Enjoyed it, but repetive, but solid work. I agree with your option for moons. Hope to see more from the planet Saturn! :)

Yeah it would be hard. It would be nice to have a tag or a page that regroup all those runs that is not 100% or any%, since they are hard to find if we don't know the existence of it.

Maybe, but, I think it's arbitrary, since id avoids doing BLJ.

Then, avoiding BLJ is a challenge? I understand your point of view. I don't know what to say. I just think we need a tag that regroup all runs with special objectives like small-only, the 70 stars run, ring attack, All dungeon & All Ganon trial, Walkathon, Reverse boss order. You know, these special runs that does something special other than reaching the end credit in the fastest way.

Is 70 stars BLJless really arbitary? It just takes the fastest "intended route" and avoids a game-breaking glitch, it's not really arbitrary.
Why does it avoid a game breaking glitch? The authors decided to avoid them. That's why it's arbritrary for me. It's like "small-only" of SMW.

Let us start with a list? :) [2593] Genesis Sonic 3 & Knuckles "Knuckles, ring attack" by TheYogWog in 1:14:55.91 [2467] N64 F-Zero X "Death Race" by Lord Tom in 00:29.55 [2062] N64 Super Mario 64 "70 stars, no Backwards Long Jump" by Jesus, Kyman, MICKEY_Vis11189, MoltovM, Nahoc, snark, sonicpacker, ToT, CeeSammerZ, coin2884, Eru, Goronem, Mokkori, Nekuran, Nothing693 & pasta in 42:58.52 [2020] N64 The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time "All Dungeons, Temples & Ganon Trials" by SwordlessLink in 2:04:45.22 [1868] SNES Super Mario World "no powerups, maximum exits" by PangaeaPanga in 1:18:23.22 [1759] GBA Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow "all souls, inbounds" by Kriole in 24:56.10 [1895] NES Super Mario Bros. "warpless, walkathon" by Mars608 in 25:30.05 [2536] PSX Castlevania: Symphony of the Night "Replay Mode" by ForgoneMoose in 13:21.60 [2078] SNES Super Metroid "reverse boss order" by Saturn in 46:42.38 [2508] NES The Legend of Zelda "all items" by TASeditor in 32:16.98 ->I'm not sure if it's 100% or an arbitrary goal by the author. [1592] PSX Castlevania: Symphony of the Night "all relics, best ending" by arukAdo in 57:20.60 ->I'm not sure if it's 100% or an arbitrary goal by the author. [2506] PSX Metal Gear Solid: VR Missions "100%" by theenglishman in 2:10:12.43 ->I'm not sure if it's 100% or an arbitrary goal by the author. [2082] DS Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin "all bosses" by mtbRc in 25:19.52 -> I think it's one arbitrary goal. [1970] N64 Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards "all shards" by Nahoc in 1:06:15.62 -> I think it's a abritrary goal, since it doesn't complete the game at 100% in my opinion(completing 100% would need to collect all cards at the end of the levels, since it does something) [2392] N64 Micro Machines 64 Turbo "all courses" by Weatherton in 23:51.37 -> I think it's a arbitrary goal by the author. What do you think about the start of the incomplete list?

Do you differentiate internal side goals present in the game and arbitrary ones the author imposes? It may make sense to add a tag for the latter.
That's what I meant exactly. :) I didn't know how to say it. EDIT: Between, if a run does the first option, and that is buried in the past, how can we find such run easily?

The thing is, "special" movies seem to be already covered with the tags we have. Most of the movies that specifically aim to complete a special objective are already tagged with "Demonstration", and most of the runs with "all [insert collectable here]" branch names (like Kirby 64, Sonic Chaos, and Mole Mania "all levels") are just 100% runs with a different branch name (though they include the "100% completion" tag).
I prefer movies that is not any% primarily. I have the 100% tag, which is nice. But how can I find other movies that has what I like to call special objectives?Like Super mario Bros walkathon or rings attack. The tags of the ring attack run is: heavy glitch abuse, in game timer instead of real time and the genre of the game. There are no way for me to find them easily. I have to search the lengthy list. For example the ring attack, I'll have to search through the list of the genesis games, the heavy glitch abuse, etc. or search with the search engine. There is no way I can find this movie easily once buried "in the past". Imagine someone that doesn't even know the existence of this movie. He'll have to search hard. I'm more talking about like second branches that is not 100% or any%, not like the runs that are already in the demonstration tag. If it's what the demonstration tag was meant... I'm confused. I'd like to have some clarification. I don't know where the tat is explained, can someone help me? Thank you.

While we are on a topic concerning categories, I'd like to ask for a new category or tag: I'd like a tag that is to list runs that has special goals? I have a strong preference of completing sidequest or side goals. We have a 100%, but what for the other runs with special goals? Like the recent ring attack, all the 100% runs, the Super mario bros walkathon, and so on. I know we hd a Demo category. I don't ask to revive this category, since it's not a clear category. How about a: "special objective"? With this, we can include a lot of runs from the 100% page that is not even 100% An example of list: [2593] Genesis Sonic 3 & Knuckles "Knuckles, ring attack" by TheYogWog in 1:14:55.91 [2082] DS Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin "all bosses" by mtbRc in 25:19.52 [2335] Genesis Phantasy Star IV "all sidequests, Blast from the Past" by janus in 1:59:10.18 [1970] N64 Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards "all shards" by Nahoc in 1:06:15.62 [2392] N64 Micro Machines 64 Turbo "all courses" by Weatherton in 23:51.37 [561] NES M.C. Kids "all levels" by Brushy in 26:25.12 [2508] NES The Legend of Zelda "all items" by TASeditor in 32:16.98 [1592] PSX Castlevania: Symphony of the Night "all relics, best ending" by arukAdo in 57:20.60 [2506] PSX Metal Gear Solid: VR Missions "100%" by theenglishman in 2:10:12.43 [1782] SGB Mole Mania "all levels" by Ryuto in 1:09:13.48 the all levels of STBM for example, that CoolKirby just changed is exactly what made me think

yeah I noticed the cycles. You've must have TASed the same level more than one time to find the optimal path I guess. Amazing! I'll watch it now. EDIT: Watched 30 minutes, had to go, liked what I saw!

Pause buffering: is this a common technique or just a technique? Which games again? Mid-Jump physics change: sounds a bit strained but what did you have in mind with it?
Pause buffering: SM64 is one of these games. It's also used in the speedrun community in the Zelda 64 games. So I'd call this a common technique. About the Mid jump, the only one run I can recall that abuses something, if I remember correctly, is one of the batman games Adelikat TASed. It jumps in the mid airs because of the way it is programmed.

Spikestuff, What is sad, is that every time someone does something that you judge stupid, you get somewhat angry or just like someone who think in his head: "why did he do this ****? That's so stupid" Everytime a new member make a submission that is not up to the standart of the site(or even yours), you just write a big no with some argument like: not optimized, should've not done this, etc. Not everyone understand how important is the optimization, nor the "thing" TASvideos wants... Or even how the site works(some even posted some WIP in the submission, thinking it was the right thing to do. And so on. I,m sure if I submit a shit TAS here, you'll bully me somewhat. What TASvideos wants, from what I recall, it's not a new member getting bullied. TASvideos want a new member on the forum. To ensure that, we have to help him kindly, encourage him, etc. The opposite of what you do... Everytime someone ask a unnecessarily question, you just say something like: "*sigh*, look there", "*sigh*, read before posting, your question has alrady been answered before", etc.. Even if there is an answer somewher ein the forum, sometimes it's not clear that it was the answer he was looking for... or that he understood, etc. who knows? He might be a french guy who had trouble understanding the english explanation, or even didn't see the link there has between his question and this answer... Or even someone who doesn't follow a topic closely... etc. I think you think the members of the TASvideos should be perfect. Perfect submissions, perfect attitude(read before posting, don't ask stupid questions, etc.), perfect staff, perfect topics, and so on... Yo should remember that nobody is perfect. ^^ Not even you and me. On the topic, CaneoofPacci, I liked what I saw of the run(Just watched the retro and the first level). It looks confusing the first level after the retro. :O Will watch the rest when I'll get the time.

I think this run should lose the tag 100% because it's not really a 100% run. It just completes all levels. It doesn't collect all the emblems.

I think that if this is re-visited, it should be renamed <character> ring attack. The advantage of calling it a ring attack is that getting the perfect bonuses is just a side-effect. It doesn't lead to the weird ambiguity on levels where perfect bonus is impossible of 'well, do you try as hard as you can, or just ignore rings'. Ring attack = you always get as many rings as possible.
I like this.
