Suggesting runs for Stars should be done in this topic. Note that Sonic 3 & Knuckles already has a publication in Stars, so it may have to compete with that run (or be substantially different to it) for the star.

Third WIP: Getting the "Hand Arm" in the Water stage. This is the first time in either Zook Hero Z or Rockman DX3 that I can't skip a miniboss fight. So I deathwarp past it instead :) Besides that, more of the usual defiance of gravity and walls. Link to video User movie #18224510822092786

I have thought about it a few times, though never acted upon it. I still like the statistics even despite the top 5 or so being massively skewed due to bot usage or other things getting lost in the shuffle, so I wouldn't agree with removing the statistics entirely. The best way to fix it, in my opinion, is to zero out the rerecord counts from the errant publication files (so that they don't show up anymore with their erroneous statistics on the statistics page). I suppose that can still be done when I (or others) have time for it. If that sounds like a good solution, and others agree with it, then that seems like the way to go for me.

"tastas" is an alternate account of gamerretro2. As according to the forum rules: "Users are not permitted to register more than one account on the forums. The administration has the right to merge or delete such accounts.". I will ban the alternate account now. gamerretro2, take this as a warning. If I find out you create another alternate account, you will be banned from the site. (Can someone translate this post to French for him?) EDIT: Thanks Got4n for the translation.

Added a note about the above to the OP. I also reset the poll because of general misconception and people wanting to change their votes.

The poll is confusing because it doesn't make it clear what "No, remove the Vault" means. Does it mean "remove the tier and all TASes belonging to it", or does it mean "merge the Vault and Moon tiers"? If it means the latter, I think the poll options should reflect that more clearly.
It effectively means "merge the tiers". Nobody ever considered removing TASes from the site, and there is no intention to change site policy of "no unpublications".

I've added a poll to the topic. This is a valid discussion topic, and I see reasonable points being made for removing the Vault, but I think it's important to see whether or how many people do actually agree with it.

Thanks, captain! :) Seriously, try to beat AIZ1 with Knuckles 43 frames slower than me, and you will see that it’s worth mentioning as a good start. I keep my opinion.
It depends entirely on the complexity of the game. Most Sonic games have much more complicated methods of movement. When most of the first stage (which constitutes barely 20 seconds of gameplay anyway) is just "walk right", it's much easier to get close to an optimized run's time. EDIT: Also, Tompa only put a few minutes into his version. It wasn't seriously optimized.

Thanks, I'll take a look at it. I noticed that 3-3 can be improved by a small bit of time by avoiding transforming and just going around the walls instead of going through them. I'll need to fix that before going on. EDIT: got a 71-frame improvement in 3-3 with this. New WIP is User movie #18137286394530369]here. Also updated the YouTube link above.

I knew of it back when I ran Rockman DX3. It happens when you catch a ladder so high up that the y position overflows. There isn't any real use for it though. I'll look at the ram watch file later -- I've found and used some RAM addresses myself, but it might be useful if you happened to find more. Thanks in advance :)

Link to video User movie #18009144037580254 (outdated, see post below) I like the visuals of this world. Especially the layers of blood-stained spikes, which just look so out of place compared to the bright colors, artsy background, and happy music. I picked Guilmon for the encode this time because again, why not. It still makes literally no difference timewise which character you select. Makes me wonder which of the three to submit the run with.

For the record, I watched the run, and I mostly agree with turska's judgment. Upon watching the run itself, it didn't look like it would do well enough for entertainment in the ratings. (I could, of course, be wrong, but so far the ratings haven't convinced me). Votes cannot always be relied on, and sometimes the judge has to trust his instincts on deciding what tier to place the run in. feos speaks of it being 'impossible' for Vaulted runs to go to Moons, but this has more to do with the run's entertainment value in itself, and not just how votes are. It is a judge's job to make judgments about the qualities of a run; it's not exclusively determined by viewer feedback. In the end, judging movies is a very subjective business. Disagreements can happen, and sometimes it is hard to find out what the correct way of judgment is (and sometimes it may even be counterintuitive, when looking at the numbers), especially in some really borderline cases. But turska in my opinion made the correct decision here.

I'd recommend you verify exactly by how many frames you are beating Spike's record (if at all) before going on. It's hard to improve on a run if you don't know the time differences between his and your runs, and especially if you don't even know if you're improving on it at all.

Second WIP: Link to video User movie #17955028590509641 Long stage, many long horizontal parts with lots of out-of-bounds offscreen movement. Good music, too. There's a bit of a route change compared to the first route I drafted: upon testing, it turns out charged Ice wasn't so practical after all on minibosses, so instead of ensuring I have Ice before the initial fortress stages, I have Grass instead. The new route for the first five stages is now Cannon~Foot, Earth~Boss, Water~Hand, Grass~Boss, Water~Boss. I'm not sure about the order for the remaining 5 stages, other than that Fire~Body requires Ice~Boss to be done before it, and the head upgrade is faster to get with Cannon so Earth~Head requires Cannon~Boss to be done before it as well. And I still need to end with a boss.

Sonic can jump off thin air in every stage and stay unharmed. This is a thorough and quality site. With all due respect, this TAS video has no room on this site. We have to draw the line somewhwre. This DEFINITELY crosses it. Am I right or wrong? Is this not a garbage TAS? In respect for tasvideos.org I purpose this TAS video be removed from the site. Do you agree or disagree?
Just to correct you on one thing: it's not a ROM hack. It's a pirated 'port' which was made from scratch, and as a bootleg game, it was actually released on cartridges. So it doesn't quite follow the same standards for publication as ROM hacks do.
