Back when I recored the Bubble bobble video there was no other emulator then Famtasia and no 60 fps patch for it. So there were no frame advance for me. So I simply played the game at a very low speed, like 5%. So that would be a game speed of 1 fps. If the levels were the same on both sides, I just mirrored the buttons for player2 so he would walk left when player1 walked right like you suggested. If you have a look on level 36 and very closely on level 59 you can see that I sometimes have to wait due to Famtasia only showing 20 fps back then. (Which means I'm not seeing 2/3 of the actual game happening, making me unable to do anything. That means if the frame when I'm supposed to bubble is not shown, I have to wait until I get such a frame. Level 36 is a perfect example of that.) If I remember correctly the 60 fps Famtasia patch was develouped while I recorded this video, I think it's used from level 75-80 and forward or someting. Ah, it's been a while since I wrote something in this forum, but fear not, I still love you guys :D EDIT: Oh yeah, kinda forgot, I only used a keyboard when recording my movie.

I've been following your run since you started and I think you should submit it, it may not be perfect, but sure it's entertaining enough to make atleast me happy. Also, if you plan to improve it, check Hero Chaos Chao's run in this topic for a better route on AR2 to make it 4 seconds faster.

No one would ever host (and probably not download) a 2 gig time attack unless it was.... the time attack of all time... I'm not a guy who complains if a download takes a day or two, heck, I've downloaded stuff for a week or two... but not everyone has high speed connections and the will do download for a long time. Bisqwit would run out of disk space in a few days... and no one would download cause the files were just too big. Also, the quality of the current files are fine, perhaps only the sonic run which has so much fast movement that kinda screws up the video, but other then that all videos are fine. The reason most of those files on sda are more then one video file is often (not always, don't worry TSA) because they are segmented, often seperated by a save, like in the Super Metroid video for example. Sorry, but gigant video files is so unpractical, even the warez ppl are dividing their movie files up into 700 meg files so you can burn them on CD.

FYI, Tarzan, Japanese people aren't found of the crude abbreviation "Japs."
Sorry about that, didn't know, but now I do. Guess it comes from some world war 2 thing, and that kinda explains it.

Looks like you're going a good job converting ppl from using IE. Also, I didn't think there were so many japs here, that kinda explains why you have the translate to japaneese link.

Ahaha, that pause glitch is just evil :D I love it, just like in Megaman. I voted yes on this one (duh) And you know, I've always wondered how it can come that Snake can't swim... and even more, why he can't even hold his breath underwater for even one second... What kind of elite soldier is he? :D

Sidenote: Phil and Genisto currently can claim $150 from nintendorecords, but I don't think they even know.
Yeah, I saw that, afterwards... It seems like they actually know what they are talking about. They call them time attacks (And wasn't that word invented by Morimoto?) and mension "emulated runs" in their info.

Go for the Nintendorecords request, heh, you'll probably be the first (and also probably last) time attacker ever who actually earns money from making a time attack.

Remember, do not be afraid of getting many rerecords, a movie which is like half an hour should have thousands of rereocrds. Actually, many rereocords is a good way to show that you have taken your time to maximaze the run. Use slowdown and more rerecords, try to go faster and don't worry about guards attacking you, you can dodge the bullets with slow motion and rerecords. You could also possibly drop the "take no hits" concept to save more time, for example going through guards or not having to walk around the deep water in the sewers. You can also shoot the mines even if you can't see them, so you can just walk stright and fire, and not waste time by walking around them. You possibly don't need the silencer, it may make it a bit harder to avoid guards, but, the tools help you again there. Work a bit harder on the menus, and perfecting the movements, and I'm sure you'll see your name and "Metal gear" on the front page in a few days.

Yeah! In fact, using a Continue is cheating, because you shouldn't get a second chance; you failed, and your character is DEAD! Now put the game away.
Actually, I think it's ok to use continue, cause it's allowed by the game, but after your continues are spent and you're game over, then you are cheating if you restart the game. After all, time attacks are the only kind of playing that is not cheating, I mean, since we undo our failures we never get game over, while the others actually do the dishonest cheat of restarting the game and trying again..... Ah, ok, sorry, I've been brainwashed by bisqwit's propaganda too much... I'm helpless to resist it now.

Hey, while we're talking about Doom2 and mapmaking in Doom2, then I simply to make some propaganda for my maps :D Here's some links that you may find interesting Alien Vendetta http://www.doom2.net/~av/ My maps in Alien Vendetta are map 03 and 04. Some of the ppl who made maps for that project are doom speedrunners too. Hell Revealed2: http://www.doomworld.com/hr2/ Hell Revealed 2 is a tribute to Hell revealed (surprise), which was made by the famous Quake speedrunner Yonathan Donner, and some guy. My maps in Hell Revealed 2 are: 20, 23 & 31 Although it says map 20 & 23 belongs to someone else, well, I guess they screwed up. I can't actually prove it, but I have no reason to lie really. The project was kinda messy and it was more or less abondoned many times and then they got back to it... so I suppose it kinda got messed up somehow. And a free standing map is Legacy. http://www.bktv.se/~a3087a/legacy.zip It uses the textures from the Alien Vendetta project, so you gotta have it in order to play this map. And I also got a shitload of other crappy maps if someone is interested :D I made my maps with an editor called DETH btw. It was pretty similar to DEU. This was back in 1999-2000. Before that I used DEU, but I had problems with it, it ran out of memory and created strange bugs, so called Hall of mirrors, so all my maps before I got DETH back in 1998 really sucked and was full of bugs. That's all folks.

Looking good. The only thing I thought about was what I've suggested before, kill yourself after getting the missiles in area 3, so you get out faster. However, since dying in a time attack has always been debated.....

Flying doors look kinda funny.... I wonder what happens if you try to walk into the door. Very nice run btw, I finally got a chance to witness the door bug... which makes you fly up the ceiling. It was the first thing I heard of when I heard of NES videos (even before Morimoto's SMB3 run), but I never witnessed it until now.

I'll upload the latest Super Mario 3 run to my personal web space so you can get hold of it. The run is made by one of our guys called "Genisto", who will probably see this thread later and make some comments. http://www.bktv.se/~a3087a/supermariobros3j-timeattack-genisto.avi Like someone already suggested, it's of great importance what it's explained clearly how those movies are made. Most of the ppl who hate us are misinformed and believe we are trying to trick them into believing we are playing honestly, which is not the case. I'm sure you've already seen the faq on the main site which explains most of it. And I'm sure our... boss, bisqwit can provide you with a breif and good answer to your article. My name is Mattias and I'm 22, live in Sweden. I've played NES since I got my NES back when I was 6 (1988). I enjoy watching these movies cause they provide entertainment and often give you some funny surprises. I also enjoy watching honestly played runs, cause I know they feature alot of skill. I've only made one movie, the 2 player (I played both players) Bubble bobble run, which I'm pretty happy with. Well, I guess that's it.

Hey, he got like 1500 visitors (and I doubt everyone actually read it all) so far and now de decides to quit? His reign was just starting and now he's leaving. That kinda sucks. I mean, imagine if we would quit if someone wrote one negative post about us in a forum. Na, I say we shall continue to brainwash and convert ppl to our evil ways until we get our hands on nuclear weapons, then we shall show the world just what we are capable of!

Snake rattle and roll US version crashes in the end after you entered the UFO on the last level. Not a big deal really since the game is over.

Very nice, I voted yes for it btw. And I thought you had to collect like everything to actually beat the game, atleast I think I read that in some old nintendo magazine. Anyway, well done. Also, I've always wondered how the cab driver can allow you to blast away someone's door (infront of the cab drivers eyes), knocking down a butler, shooting someone (at your office) (the cab driver probably heard the shot), without doing anything about it. But he radios the cops if you don't pay him 75 cent.

It's a shame he/she tried to submit it as a real speedrun, cause it was a nice time attack.

Why did you go to the trouble to find such a rare +5 orb when Memory or Leaf in a +3 staff is just as good?
Well, I got so tired of going back and forth between town to buy a +3 enchant staff with the right amount of sockets so I just went ahead and used occu and lidless. I simply never had any luck getting one. Then I just found that orb I'm using now while playing with another char, so I used it instead.
