I think more layers of stardom is just confusing this overdebated matter further. My suggestion: - Change "List the _best movies_ (recommended for first-time viewers)" to "List the _movies recommended for first-time viewers_). - Put a voting counter 1-10 on every movie that logged in users can access. - Put a new list item on the front page, "List the _best rated movies_" - Put a new list item on the fron page, "List the _most downloaded movies_" This way 1) star movies loses the double meaning (best vs. suitable for newcomers), 2) everyone gets a say in which movies should be highly visible, and 3) world peace ensues. A voting system takes a bit of programming. Given how good some people here are at programming, I can't imagine this being a problem at all. There are probably premade systems made too.

>It seems like a slap in the face to me who worked on this run, to just let it sit there for several weeks while all the work is pretty much done(the encoding). I agree with this. If the movie is already encoded, then publishing it almost no work at all. Especially when compared to making it, encoding it, or even judging it. Somebody get to it already. :/ >This is why the voting system is irrelevant. If I chose a Mega Man game or something instead, it would be probably be published fast because of bias here. Well, it's also because Mega Man games get a lot of votes fast. It's not strange that they get judged and encoded quickly, but I don't get why other judged and encoded runs should have to wait to be published.

I am tired of my avatar. Since I am A JUDGE, ABOVE YOU COMMON PEOPLE (DENOTED BY CAPS LOCK), I require of you a new avatar. Make one (or any number), upload your suggestions here and I will choose the best one. I have no requirements except that it has to be awesome. For this you will receive approximately nothing, except for my undying gratitude. Ok 3 2 1 go!

>I'm not a big fan of the TMNT run--it's a very well done run of a very repetitive game. A+B, A+B, A+B.... You're thinking of TMNT 2. I disagree about some of the game choices, but it's your DVD. For the record, I like Pit Fighter too.

I don't know about your first question. >Also, I seem to have messed up the re-record count while copying back and forth and hex-editing. Can I or Should I try to edit the proper value (my finished version says 1819 when it's actually around 5500) back in before submitting it? You can. If you think it is important to keep it accurate, change it back. Your movie will not be judged differently because of it.

I'm voting no too. There are plenty of places where the playing is underwhelming. Also the choice of game isn't very good in my opinion, because there doesn't seem to be a lot of interesting things you can do with this game.

>I thought it was faster somehow to launch the last mechakoopa earlier in order to stop the movie earlier, but is this accepted? Stopping the movie early is usually considered okay, as long it doesn't delay the completion of the game. In this case it would have.

>The runner writes through the msg system of the game "I have practiced this move", then makes a slow camera movement and then writes "Did you like it?". A rather dumb joke, but demonstrates my point. I think the point was that his magic movement made the box of ammo disappear.

>Sketchie You could do that in some worlds, but others have levels which require several lemmings to complete (because you have to sacrifice some, or because they have to be in two places at once). I don't know how much more time it would take, but gold on every level would of course be very impressive.

On your latest WIP: On the ship in level 3, there are a few times you press against the wall while you fall. Is it as fast as pulling back and building up speed to just miss the bottom corners? (Examples: 11822, 12200, 14230, 14975, etc.) At 18582 it looks like you could have started going left earlier and passed the corner (or landed and dashed). Or does that give you problems at the next corner?

Gauntlet 2 doesn't have an ending, I think, and as such is not a good idea for a speed run. If you manage to make a 4-player movie which is as good as the preview you posted at the top, I can almost guarantee that it will be published. More previews would be nice, too.

Hehe, I know, I just think it's funny that directly translating the Swedish expression turned into something nasty. And since I'm Swedish too I'm allowed to pick on it. ;)

It blocks php? You need a new whatever it is that is doing that. One of the four options should work. >And yes my mispellings are uniqe to me and me alone XD Quite right you are, good sir: http://www.google.com/search?q=Minulaptes

You can see sites with free uploading at http://tasvideos.org/GenericTips.html >*Minulaptes Luck I like how some of the letters were shifted 3 positions away, instead of the usual 1.

(W) roms are very much allowed. It's preferred that you run them in USA-NTSC mode. You can set it under Country in one of the menues.

Bosses: A lot of the boss fights from the Megaman X games are good, especially the ones that abuse boss invulnerability reset. Megaman X3 has a lot of those. Cool scenes: Anything from the movies that everybody likes, such as Sonic, Mario, Metroid, Megaman, Zelda, Ninja Gaiden, Excitebike etc. Ecco is also colorful and enjoyable. Glitches: Zelda: LA, short Zelda 2, Megaman 1, Super Mario 64, short Castlevania CotM, Battletoads, short Rygar, Gods, Strider, long DKC (flying sequence). That should be enough to keep you busy for a while.

>There's actually a phpbb extension (plugin?) which Bisqwit could install that has a better management for unread threads. What it does is create a new table in the database and stores all the unread threads per user in the database directly, so that the next time they visit it's still unread. (Something like that) So how does it work usually? I can't think of any way to do it other than that.

That was posted 2 years ago. If it's not on SDA already (and I can't be bothered to check), it probably won't be.

Phil>So, since you know it will flame me, why do you post that? Shouldn't you have waited 24 hours before posting that? :P adelikat: Quoting is for whimps. ;) I wanted to tell nico that Phil was correct in what he was saying, but that he does come across as harsh and unfriendly quite often. (The high horses thing with sarcasm being against the rules (which it isn't (third set of parenthesis (courtesy of JXQ))) didn't help either.)

Hey nico. Officially: >1. Not really. Any votes which help in judging unjudged submissions are helpful and welcome. >2. It's also helpful if you state the reason for voting like you did. The tone in which you state your opinion is of course important. >3 & 4. That's good to hear. Personally: You're not the only one who is ticked off by Phil's attitude sometimes. (I'm sure he will be angry at me for saying this too, but I can take it.) Best of luck for future projects.

Could you have overwritten or corrupted the movie file somehow? How long is the movie listed as it in the "Play movie" dialog? If you have input display on (under Options -> Misc... ), does it show that buttons are pressed after Wolverine mysteriously stops? You can try redownloading it, but I would still like answers to the above questions. If all else fails, try the AVI.
