I haven't watched this. Is there any way to only play the fourth variant? 2 hours is too long for a game like this, in my opinion. About different ROM versions - get GoodNES, and make it rename your rom to the correct (full) name, which should include which region it is (JUE), if it's a verified good dump with no errors, version and stuff like that. This should be included in the submission field Game Version. Having the wrong ROM often causes the video to desync.

Planning the special stages is a lot of work, because not only do you need the shortest path, but also the least number of turns. I noticed you didn't care about the second factor at times. You should also looking into jumping trough the clusters of red balls for shortcuts. The play wasn't of very high quality. That could be ok if you're doing it for your own entertainment. There's probably no chance it will be accepted as a submission.

Looking good. Perhaps there are other places with similar conditions as in SNDS. I don't remember at the moment, I can check up on it later. If hex editing worked without descyncs, you could continue anyway.

Don't you have to complete it four times, once with every character? And you can't switch characters between levels. I remember reading that somewhere. Never played the game myself.

Do you mean he will continue from the old, slower video, or from the new one when it's copypasted up to metalman? I didn't find half of the info you cited, did you get it from him personally?

Nah. People saw all kinds of things which they thought were proof of video editing, but they were mistaken, or didn't know how the engine worked. You can still download the Famtasia file from Morimoto's homepage: http://homepage3.nifty.com/soramimi/zips/movsmb3.zip I haven't checked, but I'm pretty sure it plays the exact same way as the videofile that circulated. Unless he updated it.

Make backups first. In fact, make lots and lots of backups. Noone likes accidentally overwriting their movie.

Gigafrost has worse strategy (doesn't use the warps) but a lot better movement in the stages. Gigafrost said he wouldn't do a warp version, I think.

I agree with SprintGod. Speed is a lot less important factor in determining entertainment in one-on-one fighters than in other games. Do crazy combos, show off glitches, mix it up with beating the opponent in 6 seconds.

I agree with ziplock with the caveat that this still is obviously improvable. Some identical places are done slower the second time around. Make a new one and make sure there's no way to improve it.

I was going to say that with the knocking lasers. They take a while to activate though, so it might be hard to implement. Maybe it could be combined with dying to save some time? When are you planning on getting bombs? By the way: I could play this video with 1.43 WIP, without zeldafix, even when reloading savestates to jump around in the movie. Luck?

Read the FAQs. http://tasvideos.org/UsingEmulatorTools.html The guidelines and rules are probably also a good idea. If you make a movie on easy there's a high risk that it'll be rejected.

Glitch and fastest character. But most of all I'd like to see a Sonic 1 run. *whine whine*

>If I would have switched earlier, I would have to prolong the wall-hit and wait for the blocks to evaporate anyway. Notice how Baloeg is almost there when the final block evaporates. I realize the wallhit will be prolonged a bit, but I was thinking that Olaf being closer would cut both scrolling time and time walking towards the goal later, so it might pay off. It's just a hunch, might very well be wrong. >Mummys don't hit with one point of damage, they'll kill you with one shot. Ah, that changes things. And it's not possible to walk trough them like the monsters in the first world I guess. >I tested this one. The route you're talking about invloves slowing, turning around and doing the same when falling from the ladders. I understand about the momentum after grabbing the key, but after the first ladder to the left you drop off, your horizontal speed should be zero, and it's closer going to the right instead of left. Thanks for all the answers.

I don't think so, because 1.43 WIP has fewer desync issues. Get the improved version from Snes9x forum, it can play both WIP and Final movies.

Some ideas and suggestions: At 11:29 you take two vikings down the ladder and leave the third (Olaf) above, instead of doing the three-player thing and switch while they are falling. I realise this is probably because you want Erik to hit the wall as soon as possible below, right? But it means Olaf will be doing nothing for a good while, and while he's falling down essentially no input at all is given, instead of controlling two characters, and longer scrolling time afterwards. Did you try both ways? 11:49 - when jumping here it looks like you're a bit over the corner, so you could have jumped earlier. Erik's hitbox might be irregular though. At 13:20 you run past the ladder and fall down. Shouldn't either grabbing the ladder + fall, or jumping down the hole be faster? The end of the level at 13:26. Can you land on the shield with Erik while still giving away the key, and then carry him towards the goal and dropping him off by lowering the shield with Olaf? (A long shot, I realise you've tried almost everything here. At other times it looks like you have to walk to stay on the shield, if so this probably wouldn't work.) At the level SNDS (starts 13:31) you run to the goal with Erik and then switch to move Olaf and Baleog. This means a lot of time is lost as the screen scrolls. Is it perhaps faster to run about a screens worth and switching back and forth between the teams, to minimize the time when noone is moving? At the level TMPL (starts 14:03) do you really need the kill-everybody weapon for the blue-key room, or is it just for easiness? Can't you avoid the enemies here like usual? Getting it takes a few seconds. At 14:41, It looks like you can switch from Erik sooner - or will he land in the spikes then? And why don't you jump over the spikes instead of falling? At the elevator shortly after that, can you jump with Erik from the shield to disembart earlier? Again it looks like Erik is a good bit above the corner. If applicable: Same thing with elevator at 15:06. Same thing with elevator at 16:08. Crazy idea for elevator at 15:49: can you leave Erik behind to take the key from Olaf, and run before him to start the elevator earlier? Olaf can float down to steer the elevator. Baleog might arrive late, but you don't need him to go down anyway, he can get on when the elevator goes up later. After taking the blue key at 15:57, why don't you go back the same way you came? (Alternatively, why didn't you go up on the left side the first time?) ---- On another note, I have no idea what they were thinking when they named a viking Baleog.

Here's another demonstration of a funny glitch. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/4/ Go there and click on the link. If Shang Tsung is hit by a crotch punch at the same time as he is transforming into any of the girls, this is what happens. He cannot move at all until hit or until the match ends. I suspect it will be difficult to manipulate Shang into turning into one of the girls, or even anyone, while in striking distance. But it's worth a try perhaps. Next up, punching Kintaro into glitch heaven.

I've never beaten any of them, but I've been told the corner-endless-highpunch works on them too. I suggest including them. Some people might not now how to get there, most people have probably never beaten them, at least not on very hard. This comes at the price of one fatality and a possibly boring match before the questionmark (only lowkicks). A question: is the battleorder fixed for every character? Or are there only some possible orders? I remember facing the same people often in the first match.

Wrote 5 descriptions just now. Any editor familiar with the 10 games not having descriptions (they are linked on the left on http://tasvideos.org/TODO.html), put in an effort and we'll have this done. If anyone not an editor has a good description, just post it here and I'll add it. Edited by Bisqwit: Used the code to separate the parenthesis from the URL.
