Hello, Convert console verified movies made on other GBA emulators to GBAHawk that are then known to sync on console would also be cool at one point to test if they sync on GBAHawk: GBA Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3 "warps" by EZGames69, GoddessMaria in 11:07.65 GBA Sonic Advance by Mukki & ruadath in 10:49.73. there seems to be no archive of the movies used for the console verification here sadly: GBA Sonic Advance by Mukki in 10:46.52 GBA Sonic Advance 2 by Mukki in 18:01.78

Sorry for the time to judge your submission, As a note: Your movie's goal isn't a Standard category as the Full Completion criteria for this hack would be getting 105% on your save file collecting the Moon and the 5 Yoshi's Coins in each level as seen here : Link to video Your movie was then only acceptable into Alternative or if not sufficient entertainning, into Playground. For the optimization, it looked decent enough to me for a first submission of this game/hack. Keep on the work, I would be glad to see your next TASes !

Welcome here, I'm sorry for taking that long to judge this submission, I shouldn't have taken that long to post this message. I struggle creating the patched ROM needed for this submission..., Can you provide me the baseROM's version & its hash (do not post the ROM to download or the process to find the ROM on internet) that you used ? The patch source link applied to it ? and if they are both used, The order to apply the patches on the baseROM to create the modified ROM used in your submission ? I tried all official ROMs of SMW but didn't get the intended result. To note that this submission will be evaluated first to assure that it is not too poorly done, otherwise this won't be a reason for rejection. At worse, the submission will end up into Playground but this won't mean that your TAS is not worth watching ! Thanks in advance !

Hello there ! Great to see new faces ! I saw that you struggled getting your submission beeing considered played on Flash. There were no need to cancel the submission and resubmit, remember not doing that for next time ;). Today was your first day on the site so we understand, no need to worry. It has been better explained here:
When making a libTAS movie that you plan to submit to TASVideos or upload it to userfiles, put Platform: Flash at the very start of the .ltm annotations, that way the site will recognize your platform properly. This can be done within libTAS by opening Movie -> Annotations while recording a movie.
a *.ltm file is also an archive so you can open it and modify the "annotations.txt" file in it if you are not able to open libTAS at one point.

Hello there, I made a movie back in late 2020 of the game which is 60 frames faster than this submission with the same IGT found here: User movie #638257216678082214. The movie was made on 2.5.2 so the SHA1 seems to not match but it is the same ROM used in this submission. I've never submitted it because I was struggling with different inputs on the TAS that led to a slower time, I had hypothesis but I needed to find the RAM value of the position of the car to understand but never quite understood back in the day how to find this value if it exists. That's why I let it on my computer and never touched it since. I also started a TAS of Bedlam but never finished a complete version.

Although, ViGadeomes (I hope you'll still read this), why I'm added in the "additional authors" section? On the other GB submission, I can see that this section is "Only [for] authors not registered for TASVideos".
Oops, fixed.
BlackWinnerYoshi wrote:
EDIT: and why add the "Challenge" branch? Can the "Freeskate" mode have an actual ending that TASvideos usually requires?
I don't know, if a submission is made in this mode it will be required, otherwise I felt it wasn't obviously the main mode for the game, the encoder will remove it if it is wrong ;).
Post subject: another possibility?

For most of these event TASes, there should be (an) input file(s) until the point where the TAS is not deterministic/determined anymore no ? (mostly until the point of ACE just before python scripts start generating inputs depending on external elements: Twitch chat, discord chat, Skype). I'm pretty sure all TAS showcases have a part of it with prepared inputs that will always do the same and so should be replayed as any other TASes (rest of them wouldn't be considered TAS but more a kind of AI if I can call it this way). So a solution, if it's still possible to recover them for old showcase events and not impossible by some tech limitations that i'm unaware of, would be to still ask for input file(s) ? So the concern about preventing cheats by others users shouldn't be that of a problem. We shouldn't look at these input files extensively during judgement if there is one needed ofc. It's only a proposition, I'm good with anything !

Sorry to bring this after accepting, but in the Judgement process, we need to look at RTA speedruns and I forgot to do it. When I looked at the RTA WR, I saw the runner crouching to extends the hitbox of the character at the very end of the 1rst level which saves 3 frames in TAS. Ref : https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1610876401?t=0h0m33s Logans, since it is a very little improvement, do you want to implement it ? I have no clue if it would be hard to implement (and so don't bother if it's hard)... if you don't there are no worries to have, I'll accept back the submission ;).

Hello, I looked at the userfile movie and the movie submitted and the userfile movie is slower on the menuing. I think it's just a miss but maybe it is on purpose ?

This category uses a purely mechanical definition of "glitch". As long as the tricks that are used are based on intended gameplay mechanics, it's all fair game.

Specifically it's the definition used in https://www.speedrun.com/oot?h=Glitchless-Any&rules=category&x=zd35jnkn-7890o58w.xqk98nd1 It's arbitrary in so much as it has a list of what is and is not a glitch, but after that all consequences logically follow. If you can do something without using a 'glitch', it is legal.

The above two posts pretty much sum it up. Are you happy enough with the definition now, ViGadeomes? It's pretty much a community-made rule set, made by active Ocarina of Time speedrunners. Linking to the rules of the run from speedrun.com would probably be sufficient for new viewers to understand the goals.
Yes everything is ok for the judging team, we decided that the community consensus was enough for it ! Thank you to all 3. I thought I would have time to come with my judgement and thank you along the way soon enough to not make it feel long but it ended up taking more time and then I forgot to make this post ! Sorry for that !

Hello everyone, First of all, Impressive run as far as I watched ! I'm very new to Zelda OoT stuff in general, this movie aims for Alternative which currently says : "Your goal choice should be clearly defined and sensible, especially to those who do not know your chosen game. Assume that the audience is seeing the game for the first time." And I'm not sure it would be clear for everyone that all techs used here are not glitches... ( neither I ). is there a definition of a glitch somewhere for this game ?

https://tasvideos.org/UserFiles/Info/638140658465792572 Thanks for suggesting that. I had initially tried going up the right but it ended up slower because I think I started jumping after getting to the right side. This ended up saving either 12 or 13 frames in the end and then there were further timesaves/losses in level 18 and 20 for a total timesave of 21f
On your new movie, you are able to remove 4 frames at the end to finish the level the fastest or remove 5 frames to finish inputs the fastest, what do you prefer ? no need to provide a new movie I'll do it without asking for co-authorship.

I did manage to improve level 2 by that frame, however I ended up losing a frame, probably to lag, in another level so it didn't save time overall in the end

Very nice ! Sorry I should have posted this sooner... You can save 1 frame by delaying and so do a smallest 3rd jump on level 2. I don't know if it will be keepable all the way tho...

While judging this movie to understand the glitch
Can you share what you've learned about the glitch so far?
Whoops I totally forgot about it : So the glitch only occurs when pressing "Start" and "A". You always need to press a combination(A, Start, A+Start) of those inputs in the first available frame of a new screen(cutscene), after that, some situations : - The glitch occurs but you have still one frame to press another combination of those inputs - You need to press another of those input combinations to make the glitch occurs whenever you like after it. Sometimes, doing another combination of inputs will make the next screen where we warp at different. Here is the RAMWatch address of the current screen: FFCB(System Bus). I only have theory about it but I didn't tested them as We would probably need to decompile the ROM to understand. Probably looking at the type of screen and the situations that occur are linked but if not I have really no idea on where to start my researches(and I don't really like doing extensive researches). Maybe sub-inputs would lead to more possibility about warps but I didn't get how it works to test. By the way, I forgot to ask for co-authorship with our improvements <3

While judging this movie to understand the glitch, I managed to save one frame by changing randomly inputs so I went more seriously on it and here is the result. So we have here a 51 frames improvement: User movie #638138943223578883 : 1 frame saved before the first level played by changing a little bit inputs. 1 frame saved by BLiNX_PERSON on the elevator level by reducing one frame of lag. 49 frames saved by changing inputs of the very last warping section of the movie which led to the last screen "warping" itself to the end so it's like a all screen skipped in term of inputs.

Welcome BLiNX_PERSON ! It's amazing to see new people here submitting movies ! The points given here are just informationals for future submissions and will never make your submission here rejected because of it: * You've submitted a *.tasproj file while a *.bk2 file is better because you don't need to delete the greenzone and the file will be compressed. To export a tasproj file into bk2, on the TAStudio window go into "File -> Export to Bk2". * You've submitted a movie made on a 2.9 dev version of BizHawk. A submission must syncs on an official release of an emulator, I advice you to make your movies on such and not on dev versions as you'll probably have bad surprises. Thankfully here, your movie syncs on the 2.8 version of BizHawk. * Enabling BIOS is preferred for submissions, to simulate the best of beeing on real hardware for the publication. So I resynced your movie on 2.8 using the GBA BIOS to enable Console Verification on GBP, I've also added the cyclecount to the bk2 without modifying any of the inputs so your movie remains unchanged : User movie #638131204353901865. Do you agree for the replacement of the movie ?

Here is the same movie in GBA mode for Console Verification, no change in the inputs, same rerecord count, Author noted : User movie #638128316808155798. To late to modify the actual submission.
