Requesting the TAS to be set to Delayed so we can fix it.

How were you TASing it? I couldn't get it working on libTAS.

I've been asked to list the differences between versions 1.1 and 1.2 of this game, but I couldn't find a nice way to integrate it into my submission notes. Hopefully this suffices. From what I can tell and according to the game's changelog, the only noteworthy differences are changes in the game's physics and more/different levels. Note: The game's changelog mentions 63 levels, but only 43 are actually in version 1.2. The rest are in a separate ROM, called the "B-Sides", and this is currently being TASed separately. (It's really weird because one of the levels in the B-Sides is just a test level of seemingly infinite length, so it's more like 62 levels, actually.) The following is a table that has all the levels in versions 1.1 and 1.2. Main Levels

In February, I submitted a 201 frame publication for Famidash. On February 28th, a new version of the game released, adding more content, and I created another submission for that version. My question is, do I cancel the first submission? I’m going to be honest, I think the current publication is poor in quality. It isn’t optimized and there is little interesting playaround, despite the game offering a lot of opportunity for it. I’d like to have the 201 frame improvement accepted, as there would at least be an optimal TAS of version 1.1 before it gets obsoleted by the 1.2 TAS. Does the 201 frame improvement have any chance of getting accepted? Additionally, will the version 1.2 TAS get accepted? Figured I’d ask since I don’t think I’ve seen any other examples of a game on TASVideos being given more content in an update, although I could be wrong. The 1.2 TAS is longer, but it’s more representative of the game in its current state (and more interesting than the 1.1 TAS in my opinion). Is there any sort of written policy on this? I’d also hate to get pedantic, but the collectable coins in Geometry Dash are called “Secret Coins” in-game. Famidash technically doesn’t have a name for them, but I’d assume the same name applies, considering it’s a demake of the Geometry Dash. Is “main levels, all Secret Coins” a better branch name or is “main levels, all coins” still accurate? Would “main levels” without the coins be accepted? When you collect a coin, you are forced to wait for it to get tallied on the score screen. Sure it’s technically fastest completion, but it doesn’t offer anything different from “main levels, all coins” other than intentionally missing the coins and getting free timesave at the score screen from it. The level route and skips are still the same. Lastly, I’m working on an “all levels, all coins” TAS of the game. Is this an acceptable branch, or is just “all levels” preferable? I’m reusing my inputs from the “main levels, all coins” TAS I made to save time. Is this allowed? Frowned upon? Should I change the inputs in the main levels to make it more visually distinct from the existing submission I made? Should I just make a “custom levels, all coins” TAS instead? Many thanks for taking a look at my many questions. I apologise if anything isn’t super clear here.

Did bizhawk throw up an error window when the run finished? Because the embed video has a really alarming stop/stutter right after the 19:20 mark
It did. Sorry about that. I fixed that issue since then. Working on a new encode now. Edit: I'm still getting the error window. Don't think I'll be able to figure it out right now.

Yes, we agree to using the 323f TAS. One last thing to note, Deppy found a faster way to get the shortest maze. It's still 43 seconds, but I figured it was worth mentioning here. https://tasvideos.org/UserFiles/Info/638733772675487075

I'm turning down all the files submitted after my original request...seeing that they all get longer in length.
Can I ask why? The file I submitted doesn’t use Stella and takes advantage of being able to reset where you shouldn’t be able to. I’ve explained the gist of this in the user files and description. I’m just confused as to why the original file was chosen since it’s technically not possible to do on actual hardware.

Is it even possible for this game to generate a maze like in the BenS7 WR? Maybe the A2600Hawk core could do that, but then it could be an emulation error. Also, can you both share the program that you made?
I have a user file that does an even shorter maze. Deppy will upload the program to her GitHub soon. I'll update the description when it's ready.

Hi! I'd like to apologize for the long wait. I wasn't expecting this to happen. I am happy to report that Deppy and I have found an improvement (although this uses the Stella core and still doesn't beat RTA).

I've managed to find one small improvement that saved 28 frames over the submission. Shortly after, BizHawk 2.10 released with the Stella core. I realized that Stella is way more accurate with its loading. If you play the game on an actual Atari2600, resetting will cause the game to flash colours and take a longer time to generate a new maze. In my previous Atari2600Hawk TASes, I took advantage of being able to reset multiple times in succession to get a good seed quickly, which simply isn't possible on actual hardware. So I ended up making a TAS that uses the Stella core. The longer loading times meant that you can't advance the seed a lot before losing time. I'm of the personal opinion that the Stella TAS should be used due to its accuracy, but I don't know if that's my decision to make. I asked a friend to look into the game and so far, she managed to find where the maze is stored in RAM and the RNG algorithm. She's still working on it, and it'll unfortunately take a while (likely a month), and there's a possibility that we might not even find anything better. I don't think I've been very successful in making a run that's nearly as fast as the RTA WR and for that I'd like to apologize.

Hi! Thanks for linking the user file! I'll keep that in mind for next time. There are three speeds that you can switch to by pressing forward or backwards (so if you're going up, it's up and down). I apologize for not adding that in my submission notes. I'll include that when I can.

All I can say is that I'm sorry that I didn't consider the version of the game before submitting. I didn't know that this version was unofficial, and I'd be ok if the Newgrounds version was used instead, but I don't know if that's up to me. Once again, I apologize.

We've had plenty of Home Alone publications earlier this year. Why not the Home Alone 1 and 2 GB? I'm also interested in Antz Racing for GBC. I don't know if it would make the most interesting TAS, though. It's a fairly straightforward racing game, and the only noteworthy power-ups just increase your speed.

You can wraparound the screen, which was used in RTA runs. https://www.speedrun.com/action52/runs/znk8r03z Could this have been used in the TAS?

Hi everyone. I started working on this TAS for Ratatouille about two months ago. It's been going well, but I found a few places where I could save time (the first cooking game and Kitchen 1), and fixing up those places just desyncs the TAS. Here's a video of my current WIP. I may just start from scratch. The next cooking game is also giving me tons of trouble too, mostly because I don't actually know how to get the minimum required rank without brute-forcing everything. Link to video I don't have much to say about the game right now, but if you have any questions about the game or the TAS, or want to help out, please let me know.
