Out of curiosity I tried TAS-ing independently and saved 35 frames. I'd like to optimize a bit more but it's a low priority for me, so feel free to continue from here: User movie #639164263977360001
Any updates on this?

Is being called transphobic worse than being transphobic?

While understandable, the chaos can get a bit distracting, though for me it makes it look non-special, it could just as well have been a regular speedrun. A TAS is supposed to stick out more, whenever possible, to make it really feel like a TAS. I’m completely missing that here.
I, personally, didn’t care for the constant egg-bouncing in the SNES TASes.

To answer some of your questions: I also would rather consider it baseline rather than ACE, but I’m not too familiar with what’s going on there, so I didn’t bother to correct Tegron or anything. I have seen the GBA Secret levels TAS. I guess the wall-jumps completely slipped my mind. In any case, I have been unable to successfully replicate a wall-jump. I don’t like how you’re suggesting that I didn’t do any research because that simply isn’t true. I used the resources page and referenced various RTA runs and the SNES TAS. Like I said, we’re new to this and more concerned about actually finishing a run. 1-1: Lack of experience. 1-2: Didn’t think about using the first post. 1-7: Tegron noticed this. I asked how to do this, but didn't get a response. Figured the timesave was inconsequential and didn't press on.

Me personally, I wanted to prioritize speed over entertainment. That and the fact that Tegron and I are both new to TASing Yoshi’s Island specifically.

Finally got around to playing this game I bought almost five years ago. I'm interested in TASing this. Some memory addresses I found: * X position - 8037C830 * Y position - 8037C838 * Z position - 8037C834 * X speed - 8037C83C * Y speed - 8037C844 * Z speed - 8037C840 I don't believe this game uses pointers for these. User file for the position/speed display. Edit: It's also worth mentioning that RTA speedrunners use a completed file that allows them to skip cutscenes and have Nemo's dash unlocked from the very start. Personally, I'd rather do the TAS from clean SRAM.

I'm confused. How did you improve this?

I thought you said this uses some of my inputs. In that case, why am I not listed as an author?

Hey thanks! I’m certain there’s still more time to save, just nothing’s coming to me at the moment. Feel free to contribute if you’d like. Alternatively, I know RetroEdit has talked about wanting to get a 100% TAS. Maybe that’s something we could all look into?

Is this program available to use? It would help massively with some picross TASes I'm making.

Improved the movie by 325 frames. Will update the description and encode when I'm available. https://tasvideos.org/UserFiles/Info/639152854010883500 https://tasvideos.org/UserFiles/Info/639152854613562655

If it involves picking the first teams that appear on the menus, let me just say that I intentionally chose the Edmonton Oilers and would prefer that team being used for the publication.

Fwiw, this game had various ports also developed by Ocean Software. I am curious to see if the same deathwarp bug is in those ones.

Saved 34 frames over the current pub in Monkey Cage (where you have to tranquilize the security) by adding some damage boosts. I haven't resynced the rest of the TAS yet though. Will get around to it. https://youtu.be/puOsJ910ZYo Edit: As I’m watching the pub, I think I’m noticing a few areas that could use more damage boosts. I’d like to try to see if I can optimize this sometime.

Most of the times in this TAS are slower than their RTA WR counterparts in CyberScore: https://cyberscore.me.uk/games/1029

All of the minigames in this TAS are slower than the fastest known RTA records on CyberScore: https://cyberscore.me.uk/games/1361

Saved 315 frames in only Hexagon Force by implementing both the HF skip and a new one exclusive to this mode. I think this could still be improved. Edit: Also the menuing is a bit weird. Instead of pressing start on the first possible frame on the result screen, the TAS turbos Start and A. I was able to somehow save a frame by just doing it normally. Edit 2: Saved more frames in Deadlocked by adding a new skip. The movie also isn't truncated properly and exits out to the menu. I got a time of 120692f, (120452 when truncated), improving this by 323f or 5.374s.

Those are decorations. They’re not supposed to kill you.
