I sense bollocks.
Yes, it's very true that a diet high in sugars will significantly increase the risk and severity of caries (for obvious reasons, as bacteria thrive on sugars), but the notion that indigenous people who eat "natural" foods don't get caries is almost certainly just a myth. (I'm using the word "almost" because I can't back that claim up with credible sources right now, so just covering my bases.) The myth can probably be enforced with cherry picking and confirmation bias.
The history of caries goes way, way back into prehistory, and has been prevalent during the entire history of humanity. Caries is the most common disease in the world, and I wouldn't be surprised if that's true for most of history.
But yes, if you eat a diet low in carbohydrates, you will lower the risk of caries. I wouldn't stop brushing my teeth, though.
The two guard ponies in episode 22 seem to be rather tight-assed at first, but it gets better.
And Big Mac is just a stereotypical southern-American farmer, not necessarily dumb-witted.
If some games load faster than others (eg. because of seeking times or because of how often the game loads data from the CD), using an overall average will hurt some games and benefit others. This might be seen as a problem.
Yes, but even that can be problematic. Due to the mentioned physical properties of a CD drive, it becomes quite highly a question of definition and even opinion what constitutes "a suitable approximation". How well should seeking times be emulated? Does the CD drive on the PlayStation stop spinning after a certain time of inactivity? If yes, should that be emulated? (And if yes, how far should this emulation go? As said, if the CD is currently slowing down but not yet completely stopped, and new data is read, how well should the speeding up be emulated based on physical CD drive characteristics?)
Btw, can CD loading times be ever perfectly emulated?
It's certainly not enough to have a "this much data takes this much time to load". With a physical CD there are several other things that would have to be taken into account for a perfect emulation. There's seeking time (which means that there will be a pause before loading data can commence, and the length of this pause depends on where the head is currently, and whether the CD drive or the CD driver uses some kind of caching scheme). This not to talk that if the system stops the CD after a certain time of inactivity, it will take a (relatively) long time before it spins to full speed again (and this is quite a non-deterministic amount of time, when we are talking about frame-perfect emulation).
(It becomes even more complicated if the CD indeed stops spinning after a certain amount of time, because this stopping is not immediate either. If data is read while the CD is slowing down, it will be accelerated again to full speed from that. Emulating this accurately can be a nightmare.)
You do realize that that same argument could be used to speed up the emulation and make the emulated machine run much faster than the original console? Without limit (except for the capacity of the hosting computer to run the emulation).
In the same vein: Why should lag frames be emulated, given that an emulator can skip them?
(This is not an opinion on whether CD loading times should be accurately emulated or not. It's an objection to the argument.)
This sounds like a broken record, but doesn't hurt to try: Update/install a virus scanner as well as AdAware and/or SpyBots S&D and scan your system, just in case.
It's probably not this, but you could also try doing the following: http://annoyances.org/exec/show/article08-600
I'm not exactly sure I understand your point.
If you want non-speed-oriented tool-assisted machinima videos, then nobody is stopping you from making them. In fact, nowadays publishing them is easier than it ever has been. You don't even have to set up a website for that or even pay any money to host the videos. You can set up a YouTube channel for free and put as many tool-assisted machinima videos you want there. If you are making a complaint, I don't really understand what it is.
Having grown up in the 80's MC Hammer's U Can't Thouch This has special nostalgic value. (Ok, the song was released in January 1990. Still feels very 80's nevertheless.) On the other hand, listening it today, it sounds quite hammy (no pun intended). Many dance songs of that era have the same effect (but aren't rap/hiphop per se).
Some songs by Eminem are cool too.
You really are a master troll, aren't you? And you keep projecting like mad.
My response to that post you linked was humorous. Not written seriously. A joke. I didn't "start a meaningless debate". I posted a one-line joke. Read your response to my joke and see who exactly started the "debate".
Then you started posting personal attacks, insult after insult, accusation after accusation, and avoiding all the questions I ask.
I would like to ask you another question. Please answer honestly: Are you projecting your behavior onto me because you just find it funny to troll me, or do you seriously think that what you are accusing me of is accurate?
Mod edit: No, no more questions please.
Was I unclear earlier when I told you both to stop dragging this on? Will the plea be understood better when I start editing your posts?
Either let it go completely or take it to PM. It doesn't matter if you contribute while at it, I'm still tired of your bickering.

None of the posts in this thread have been about the "speed vs entertainment debate". The entire thread has been about movies and people's opinions on them. Commenting on someone's language when expressing their opinion isn't so far off-topic.
What you haven't seemingly noticed (emphasis in "seemingly") is your casual hurling of provocative swearwords and insults towards works that some people might appreciate, with complete disregard about what these people might feel when their favorite works are being bashed in such a vulgar way. Then if I object, you proceed to write lengthy rants, project your behavior onto me in the most ridiculous and transparent manner, and ignore completely any counter-argument made to your claims (in that you skip answering them completely, probably because you don't have an answer).
Nothing of that is all that bad except for the swearwords and insults. Please stop that.
I have an idea: Let's do the same as they did, but in reverse. In other words, let's start demanding that unassisted speedruns be labeled with derogatory labels such as "imperfect", "flawed", "warning: contains human errors" and so on. This way we can make the distinction between the perfect runs and the flawed runs clearer to the viewers so that they don't get confused.
