Normally when you drown as goron you become human, I think the reason that happened to that guy had to do with getting caught. I tested drowning by putting on goron in pinnacle rock with cheats and it worked fine. There's no land at all in pinnacle rock so no way to sos.

I had an idea today - I think it might be possible to do the zora timestop glitch (the one that is usually done to use FD outside of bosses ) at the bottom of water as zora without being close to land. I tried it on console today and couldn't get it, but I h=was able to get that similar animation of zora links foot tapping the ground fast (although only 2-3 times). I don't fully understand how the glitch works, but it seems to me that this glitch should be doable with TAS inputs. This could save a lot of time at pinnacle rock by being able to equip deku/goron and quickly warp back to the entrance. Edit: just remembered deku would end up in an infinite drown loop so that wont help, but it could still be useful for 100% with goron.

To get the SoT text box to appear you just need to get some other text box. The best way to do this during a boss fight is just pause and press A to check an item then unpause (I actually forgot to take this into account which is probably another 2 seconds). I think the JP version would still be faster, but by very little, and I think the US version would be better entertainment wise (flying zora, that awesome hover + megaflip to the bridge in PF, no unnecessary slash before hovering against a wall)

I think the snowhead giant cutscene skip might be worth it, just barely. I compared my 1:42 console run to grunz's TAS from goht's remains to Ikana and I soared to Ikana 23 seconds faster, but it took me 27 seconds to set up the song of time storage. Obviously a TAS could do both the SoT storage and the movement through clock town faster than I did so I think it would be a few seconds faster. You would also get extra chus to use somewhere before goht (if they save any time anywhere). Skipping the 2nd Stone Tower gap with weirdshot has been looked into a lot and it looks pretty unlikely. I also think a route that gets hookshot before bow should be looked into. If you could fit it into the route so you end up doing GBT before woodfall it could save a bit of time from not having the tatl cutscene + hookshot saving a bit of time inside woodfall. I'm not sure exactly how it would work out but I could see it being faster.

Great TAS, easy yes vote. I still find it amazing how low OoT is going.

Keeta's route would definitely not be used for a TAS. In fact, I think it's already slightly improved on console.

About the Japanese version: It has some pretty large version differences from the US version, mainly a much longer quest for one of the triforce charts and some of the best places for rupees are gone. While the text difference overall probably still saves time (still being timed), because of these differences I think the U version should still be used, considering faster gameplay should be more important than faster text.

Also, can somebody explain to me how Bottle B is done in ZFG's most recent run? I'm guessing you swing the bottle, press B, start, equip the sword? As seen here
Swing the bottle and on the first frame the bottle is visible, press B. Equipping master sword is only necessary to have deku sticks on B after dieing, or else you just become swordless. Since a TAS won't be using sticks on B, that probably won't be necessary. Though actually, since a TAS will steal the rod, it would probably be faster to do shield swipe to get bottle on B with the rod (pull out bottle, shield, press B, Z+R, hold bottle button, release R to swing bottle and catch something and it should go over B) since that would save a pause.

One of the best TASes ever made. Easy yes vote. For anyone complaining about how it shouldn't be accepted because of the rules: instead, take this as a wake up call that some of the rules need to be revised. Not accepting this run would probably hurt the site more than anything else.

I had one idea for a LJA to save a few seconds. In the 2nd last room of forest temple, could you get an LJA off the boomerang throw to turn the bridge? You probably don't have enough time throwing it straight, but maybe throwing it at an angle could work.

I thought the new camera angles were actually much more entertaining than previous runs. You see a lot of stuff you usually never see and made it look much different from the previous TAS. Along with the 3 frame improvement, I see no reason not to accept it.

I just had an idea for a future TAS. What if you hover across the gap to ganons castle to skip the rainbow bridge cutscene? The cutscene is 35 seconds long. It takes about 8 chu sideflip hovers to get across the gap, and I assume regular bomb + kokiri boots hovers would get the same distance. A TAS might even be able to cut it down to 7 bombs. Each hover takes about 4 seconds so thats 32-28 seconds, and since a TAS can pull out the first bomb so that it explodes exactly when needed, that could cut more time making it a 28-24 second hover. Add the time to get~10 more bombs, ISG and the time to get to the stone arch to start the hover. It would probably be very close either way, but if it is faster it would look much more badass

I highly doubt the J version can skip the intro. It was only released 2 days before the US iirc, its not something they would take out in such a short amount of time. He could be using the debug rom though which can skip cutscenes. If we assume the intro can't be skipped, that would put the time at about 51:30. The US version loses 6+ minutes from text, which means bloobs run is still better.

Grunz its already possible to get from the starting all the way down to the 3rd door without entering the first door zelda opens by timing a damage boost, but the problem is still getting past the bars without zelda opening them. Also, can someone TAS test my idea about using serenade after magic to get to GV faster that I posted on page 265? Visualizing it in my head makes it seem faster but I can't be sure.

No, however there is a way to skip the cutscene with the odd mushroom timer, but even then you would need to trade up to saw to RBA lullaby and need to get hover boots and all it would skip is getting broken sword and the light arrow cutscene. We did some timing for this a while ago at ZSR and determined it would save about 1 minute, but only if its possible to get to ganons castle with no ISG and no hover boots, which looks very unlikely so far.

Remember, you would also have to watch the cutscene after it which is quite long. Not only that, but to get to the castle without ISG you would need hover boots which take quite a bit of time to get.

I think the reason the US version is preferred is because the rom is much easier to find than a jap rom so people who prefer to watch it with .m64 don't need to search all over the internet for the right rom. Also, this reminded me of an idea I had for the tas. After getting magic, instead of playing prelude or savewarping, play serenade. Megaflip into the water in front of the water temple and HESS out of LH, then single bomb hover over the fence (maybe hookshotting the ladder is faster?) and SS to GV. It costs 2 more bombs but I think its faster than getting out of the market and SSing to GV from there.

Grunz it took guano 2 minutes to get to the main room and 4 minutes to the mirror shield, it took you 40 seconds to the main room and it took bloob 1 minute to get to the mirror shield from warping to colossus, and a lot of that was pause lag too. Unless you can get from the main room to mirror shield in about 40 seconds (added time for extra warp to plant bean) then bean is still faster. Also, an idea for using the bean trick, what if after entering HF you went straight to ZR, rock clip and grab the bean then off to GV to skip the warp there later? Or would that take more time than a warp?

In the any% run we get the trade quest items to use rba to skip all dungeons. This would skip getting the pocket egg and waiting for it to hatch. It will skip black gauntlets, but you can get some bombs from rocks in kokiri (so minus 1 pressure jump). Also, for anyone worried about cojiro, odd mushroom turns into cojiro after saving so that won't be a problem.

Almost odd mushroom as child no explosives. If its possible it could save about 50 seconds in the TAS from skipping the pocket egg and pocket cucco. Any ideas?
