The Red Sox are awesome! So are you playing all four at the same time? Kind of like 1 controller for four games at once or not? This is going to be the greatest run of all time. It's going to be published eventually right?

My sister was yelling at me to turn it off. I knew a kid that was on that show.

Ugh yea that block to walljump is just a bit too high, even when jumping off of the question mark block from the other way. Why do programmers have to be stupid and put stuff like that so tantalizingly close?
Question: Would it be faster to wall-jump up the side of the wall as Raccoon Mario, as opposed to flying up there?
That was exactly what I was thinking. What about getting the mushrooms in a different order, and then walljumping after flying into the wall? Get the first mushroom in 1-3 then get the leaf in the castle and fly up to the wall and walljump there? maybe get the first mushroom in 1-1? I dont know which is quicker. I assume both these tactics would be slower.

Never thought of that. Can you repeatitively walljump off the same wall? I wouldn't think so. While on that subject, could you possibly slide through that wall to save any time?

Can you improve the time on this run by dying right before you get to the bosses? The bosses do not appear until you get a certain distance to forwards, so I would figure that if you hit an enemy and press left for 1 frame into it, it will send you forwards slightly making the boss appear quicker. I was just thinking of this looking at the run. I really dont know if it would be faster, to me it just seems like it would be.

I've wondered something for a while about the current smb3 video. Cant you save time at the first level in world 8 when you reach the hammer brother? In the current run he moves backwards, but I have seen him move forward before. I'm sure it probably doesn't matter, but I had always wondered about that.

also the 21 frame rule probably applies in this game too right? I'm wondering about all-stars though more. It seems it'd be slightly faster. I haven't seen that video though, my computer is dumb about seeing some of these videos. He doesn't get a star in 1-2 does he? Do you think that my technique of getting mario to the right of the screen could be useful in any smb1 or smb2j runs in any way? The video in my signiture. Basically I jump into things backwards to scroll me forwards on the screen. Probably not, but I'd like to see if those runs could be beaten faster. Maybe one level out of every level in smb1 and smb2j could be improved. Thats 84 levels. I may investigate that.

5 people have gotten perfect pacman scores to my knowledge, unless you can surpass level 256. Billy mitchell was awesome though because it states he used no set patterns, meaning it was just incredible skill instead of just memorization. I think the others that got the perfect scores all used set patterns. I'd do the same though. If you guys figured out that you could get past 256 I'm sure there'd be a lot of people going after the record again.

Old topic, but is it faster if you get a star in level 1-2 than doing a high jump after running through the wall to kill the pirahna plant right away to enter the pipe? I'm probably completely wrong, but I bet it's only a tiny bit slower. in the all-stars version maybe it would be better though.

Sorry for double post, but I really need to ask a question. How many frames is it from when you press start to when you have control of mario? how many seconds is that?

Yeah, a TAS could beat it the same speed, it doesn't affect anything I think. Maybe like 21 frames, but who cares. Non-assisted I can beat the second quest in the same time as the first. I think I timed the second quest once. 5:13 I think. It's pointless.

You can recover well with just about any character if you know what you are doing. marth only has one real way of recovering (just the B-up), while most other characters have two. (side B and B-up) Marth's sword just gets in the way too much to try and kill him while he is recovering... He could get hit by the turnip and DI towards the stage making him able to tech and recover though. Either that or just avoid the turnip. Slow falling is not always a good thing, you can be easily comboed and juggled. You cant say Marth is best in the game though, it just depends who is using him.

I play a decent fox. mewtwo is considered worst in the game I believe... But a really good mewtwo will own you if a pro uses it. I go to tournaments occasionally, but I never win. I do decent. I'm improving with falco, ganondorf and marth. I can now tech off walls consistantly in a match (it's very suprising to my opponents usually)

A friend of mine (the one who was mentioned above as the Baiken player) is about as good with Fox as the person in the linked video, probably a little better. He's done SSBM tournies before too. As for me, I'm not very good at all (like usual).
That fox in the video was incredible... I doubt your friend is as good as him, He was just getting owned by a better player....KEN!

They get them so that they can kill bowser and the bridge does not collapse. That saves about 2.5 seconds every bowser, except the last one. I'm thinking maybe I should get powerups, but I cannot run straight through and hit bowser with 5 fireballs without stopping. getting the powerups takes quite a bit of time as well. I've been experimenting with it though. Doesn't seem to help me much. I cannot tell if it would save me any time, just because it is hard to manuever mario when he is big. Do you guys think I should get the firepower or stay small the whole time when attempting another run of this?

If I were to post it any other place it would have been sent to this thread. Yeah, i'm sending that to SDA tommorow I think. That run should really be like 15 seconds better, I think I was being over cautious.

Two days ago I completed all 32 levels in smb1 in 19:59 by SDA, and 20:02 by TG. I believe those times are correct. No powerups, no deaths!

53,500 eh? I'm going to see how good that is. My best was 53,200 after a few tries, I messed up on one thing though.
