How's it going, JorWat25? Welcome to the community :) I'm really liking how many newcomers have been joining up, over the past couple of weeks. As Aqfaq stated, just about any game is good to TAS, if you enjoy it and put in the effort to optimize it (that's what drew me here, as well). I also didn't see any obvious improvements. The game's pace admittedly is on the slower side, but it's looking good so far. Hope to see a full run on the Workbench!

This one was admittedly tough, due to my own personal stake in this. However, after seeing who the frontrunners were in this one, I gave my vote to Dimon12321. Simply put, in terms of individual effort, I thought Dimon did the most to earn the award. There were obviously more experienced authors on the ticket, but I took into account that Dimon didn't have the advantage of teaming up with someone, as well as being able to work on a game that people are very familiar with. Either way, congratulations to whoever ends up winning! This was already a very close race, this year!

I also wanted to pop in and say outstanding job to the encoding crew! It looks like you guys have been hard at work getting all of the old runs upgraded to HD.

Hi, TeighMart! As I like to extend to all newcomers, welcome to the community. That was some real pwnage you did on the first boss, lol. Does the AI start to get quicker than that, in the later stages? Otherwise, I could picture this being a fairly enjoyable watch; a good part due to the speed used to complete the picture puzzles. While I'm honestly not sure if it would end up being a Moon-tier or Vault-level run (and I personally see nothing wrong with having a Vault run), I'm interested in seeing a full TAS made, regardless. Looking forward to more WIPs :)

I just watched your WIP, and I unfortunately got a desync at around the beginning of stage 10-2 (maybe because I'm using snes9x 1.52?). Otherwise, it's starting to shape up! I liked how you took advantage of those annoying green dudes, in certain spots, to make them do some of the work for you (they annoyed me to no end, as a kid lol). .

You know, I thought it was alright and gave it a 'meh'. The game's pace is a tad slow for me, and I think the programmers gave the final Koffing boss way too much HP. But, after all, it's a bootleg. Nonetheless, I do think the run is publish-worthy for the Vault (and nothing wrong with a having a Vault run). This is actually one of the more colorful games I've seen for the Genesis.

The problem is that there is no established ending point that I know of for any shorter run to be considered a legit category. "Fastest crash" didn't count.
Could an argument be made for putting it in the demonstration category?

You know feos, after looking at most of the response feedback on here, it's clear that a shorter run would be the most entertaining choice. Personally, I also thought that the novelty started to run thin, after about the 3-5 minute mark. I think a shorter run would make the Moon tier, easy. And, going by the prior judgment, entertainment value in my view unfortunately diminishes over the course of the run. If it's possible to continue the dialogue about establishing some kind of arbitrary goal branch for Moons, I'd be all for it!

Man, after watching this I'm just impressed that all of this was done without a cam hack!

How's it going, redarremercer? Have you tried this method? Begin recording at a spot just a bit before this gambling game starts, but play at either normal or reduced speed and see if you can get "lucky" and get the outcome you want. If you do, save a state and watch back from the beginning and look over your input, while trying to narrow down the frame(s) that caused the RNG manipulation. From here, you can usually pinpoint what caused the change and optimize around it. This has worked pretty well for me, on my end, in figuring out how to manipulate AI behavior. Hope this code gets cracked!

Lol, not quite :D Thanks for the encouragement! Dude, this game has got so much TAS potential. I'm getting ideas, left and right, just by watching the current record runs... I also have a whole lot more respect for platforming. I never thought I could spend upwards of 30-45 min. optimizing a single room. This will be a long-term project, but will be well, well worth it once it's through!

Well I'll be... All of these RPG heroes (Crono, Adol, they boy from Secret of Mana) are learning how to do things the easy way by just glitching their way to saving the world! No more earning your way by level grinding, fetch quests, and cutscene showdowns with 5+ versions of the final boss--no, sir! *cue Cranky Kong rant about the good ole' days* In all seriousness, I'm surprised an Y's game had such a game-end glitch, let alone so early in the game. I think this marks the 1st SMS game-end glitch run :) Have you thought about running other Y's games? Y's III for the SNES could definitely use a good run here.

I watched your WIP, and I think it is coming along pretty good! The game's pace is a bit slower, but I definitely like the wide stage variety, so far. In case you're not doing it yet, I do recommend "time-attacking" each stage, or major section, upon completion to ensure that you have the fastest solution down (it's done wonders for me!). I also checked your beginning input and was able to save 7 frames, due to better optimization. I used Bizhawk, which I noticed has a more user-friendly lag counter than SNES 9x 1.52. Specifically, the game allows the earliest inputs at frames 852 & 964. In case you ever want to switch to Bizhawk, it does allow you to rewind movies in real-time; which makes performing spot optimizations muuuuch easier :) Looking forward to your next WIP!

How are you, JeyKey_55? Welcome to the community :) As Samsara stated above, one of the required conditions for submitting a run here is that the entire game you've TASed must be completed (i.e. must reach the game's ending). There's a number of general ways, or "branches" that this can be achieved:
any% (simply complete as fast as possible) 100% (include all of a game's extra, nonessential content) playaround (a run designed to primarily showcase entertainment value) <--- this one is held to a higher judging standard
There's also a few others, but those are the most common ones here. Also, as a newcomer, you should always check out the game's respective forum that you're TASing in order to ensure that you're beating a branch's current record. It's also a great way to obtain constructive feedback and meet other members. Hope to see a completed run from you in the future!

How's it going, Josh? Welcome to the community :) I can't say I've ever come across any Q-bert 3 runs, myself. Sometimes that's how it goes, though, and you just have to break new ground and be "the first", lol. As for suggestions, it'd be a good idea to regularly upload your WIP progress (you should have a personal user storage account that you can log into on the front page) so others can watch and give advice/constructive feedback. I was a fan of the original on NES. I look forward to your progress!

Ah, so you're talking about doing a live stream of TASes? That is a bit different from doing RTAs. I do remember ForegoneMoose streaming a TAS of Castlevania: SOTN on Twitch, when he was figuring out how to pull off the game end glitch. theenglishman also once had an entertaining live stream when he finally figured out one of the major sequence breaks he discovered in Metal Gear Solid. But besides those two, it's probably hit-or-miss when watching a live TAS stream. In my case, if I were do to one you'd likely see me in one room repeating a jump over...and over...and over again. And then I'd become picky and redo the jump from scratch in a completely different way, lol. But live team collaborations, on the other hand, might be pretty fun to watch (it's been a blast on my end working on DTC 5).

Are you talking about showcasing a personal playlist of your favorite TASes or...? (I'm just not following you, at the moment, and trying to get a clearer idea).

Lol! I'm guessing someone on the creative staff had, like, a 30 minute deadline to put together a plot for Boomerang Kid.

Another good run, Alyosha! There were indeed some cleverly hidden warps, throughout. On another note, the music kind of reminds me of this game

Well, it's an improvement nonetheless. And SprintGod retains top billing due to having the majority input. So I'll give a yes vote (the run itself is still entertaining). There goes the 2nd longest non-obsoleted run on the site! Anyone up for improving this one?
