Have you tried deleting it and redownloading it?

Here's an annoying bug. If you're recording a movie and FCEUltra freezes, you have to exit the emulator which means that all your work that you just did is lost. If there were a way to make it so that just exiting the emulator properly ended the movie, it would be useful. I was quite annoyed when earlier FCEUltra froze, and I lost 2 hours of work because I wasn't making backups (should be unneccessary due to no de-sync problems that I know of, but now I will make backups.)

OK, it seems this emu has some issues with giving the wrong times. I first noticed this with Sword Master, and now it's popping up again... Just for the hell of it, I timeattacked the first level of Monster Party today. Comparing it to Evilheart's movie from speedruns.org, it appeared that I was about 9 seconds slower, as the emu gave a time of 1:55. This didn't seem right, given that it looked like I played much better than he did, so I started both movies at almost the exact same time and compared. Adjusting for the uneven starting points of the movies, it turned out that my real time for level 1 was 1:41, 5 seconds faster than Evilheart. So the emu overshot it by 14 seconds. I haven't run into this with any games besides those two yet, thankfully. Still, this is rather annoying... -Josh

In that case, you should try to divide your total frames by 60². It should give you the time in seconds which in your case is ~101 seconds.

Phil: I know that, but what worries me is that this site seems to automatically use the time given by the emulator. If I'm wrong and it does calculate frames, then it's no big deal. -Josh

No it doesn't use the given time.

Wait a second...the given frame count is wrong as well. It comes out to 1:55, but when I play it and calculate the real time it is indeed 1:41. So this is rather annoying because you need a makeshift stopwatch to figure out the actual time of the movie. -Josh

I don't know what to say. Maybe the AVI movie speed is slower than FCEU emulation??

So how do you view videos in FCEU? I can't seem to figure it out...

You should read the FAQ and help. Anyway here is the link. http://tasvideos.org/FCM.html

Umm... yeah, thanks for the FAQ, unfortunately that really doesn't help, I couldn't find an answer to my question on that page...

So, nobody can take the 2 minutes to type out basic instructions on how to watch these videos? The FAQ doesn't help at all, and for some reason my computer won't let my use Bittorent. Please, anyone?

1. Start up FCEU 2. Load up the Rom. 3. File-Replay Movie 4. Select Browse and pick the FCM. 5. Hit OK

My file menu has no replay movie. If somebody could explain what to do with the patch to make it show up it would be greatly appreciated.

Just download the patched binary, you don't have to compile anything yourself. http://tasvideos.org/EmulatorHomepages.html Here you can find a list of the emulators that we use, and where to download them. FCEU with patch applied is #2 on that list. By the way, the FAQ has the question "How do I play a FMV / GMV / SMV / VMV / FCM file?" but when you click on "FCM", all you get on how to play the file is "To play a fcm file, you need FCEU and the ROM image of the game". The same applies to all the other formats. Perhaps some slightly more newbie-friendly instructions could be added?

OK, I'll admit I'm an idiot, but I still can't figure out what to do for the life of me. First I tried to download the .rar documents, but couldn't because there was no way to as far as I could figure, next I went to the site and redownloaded FCEU which didn't help because as your site says, it isn't included with the product. I don't know where this list of patched emulators is, but it isn't on this page. *Sigh* I'm about to give up, this is starting to seem like an exercise in futility.

As far as I can see you're doing nothing wrong, I can't get the .rar either. For some reason, it just keeps on loading forever and never finishes.

Have you tried to get the .rar from the "Emulator Homepages" page again recently? The link seems to work for me now.

I have a problem with FCE Ultra. Whenver I toggle sound (which enables me to slow down more than without sound, a bug in itself), FCE Ultra crashes and I lose all my work. This might not be a problem if it happens after an hour or so, but instead it occurs in a few minutes. So, unless I want to make backups every few minutes, It is impossible for me to create movies which need more precision than is possible at ~12%. My sound settings are: Low Quality 44100 Hz Use Secondary sound Buffer with global focus 50 ms = Length of Sound to Buffer Any help would be very much appreciated.

Kjitow: You must get the proper ROM, which in MTPO's case is USA, PRG1. Also get the .FCM file from this site (d'oh). Now: 1. Start FCEU 2. Click File -> Open... -> Browse the directories for the ROM and click open 3. Click File -> Replay Movie -> Select browse from the box and browse the directories for the .FCM file and click OK And there you go, it should work now. Just make sure you've got the right ROM, but please do not ask us where to get it.

But what do I do with the rar document so I can see the movies? I have it, but I don't know where to put it so that I can see movies.

The .rar is merely a packet which CONTAINS all the relevant files. Its purpose is the same as a .zip file's. To unpack it, you need a program like WinRAR. I'm sorry I left this out, somehow I just assumed you knew.
