Explain your avatar. Tell us who/what is on it. You can tell pretty much anything about it. About mine, it's Pac-Man. There's nothing more to say about it.

Mine is an emblem I originally designed around seven or eight years ago for a computer game I was designing at the time (which never really went anywhere). I decided I liked it and have been using it as a more or less personal insignia since then.

I guess most of you know, mine is Squall from Final Fantasy 8. The image is from the ending sequence of the game. I'm not sure why I picked it, it just turned out that way. Some of you might remember that I had other Squall images as avatar back in 2005.

It's Mega Man X, main protagonist of the Mega Man X series, which is the Mega Man series' first spinoff. The sprite used is from Mega Man X4-X6 on the PSX. Using his various pallettes from his various weapons he can use/obtain throughout these three games, I formed a series of mood avatars: All of these pallettes correspond to a weapon from X4, X5 or X6 (none are original). EDIT: As of 19th July 2011, I went with a new set of avatars: Grim Reaper Sigma from Mega Man X4, in various recolors (mostly same as above). EDIT: Changed again, as of 31st March 2012. Also added four new ones (careful, scheming, assertive, priority) EDIT: As of 16 September 2012: EDIT: As of April 1st 2014: (with one new bonus one I made for posts about the 2014 FIFA World Cup)

Mine is an interlocking star I designed about 10 years ago. It also happens to be my only tattoo.

Mine is my Worms Armageddon clan, a clan well past its glory days, but one which was highly revered in the Worms Armageddon community in the range of time 4-11 years ago.

Mine is a triumphant Guybrush who found a bone. I like Monkey Island series and my nickname is derived from Guybrush (it used to be Guybrush). Guybrush.

Back in high school, a friend of mine introduced me to POV-RAY, a ray-tracer whose render-objects are defined textually in a C-like language. I spent a lot of time fiddling around with it, placing light-sources inside oddly-textured translucent spheres. Around the same time, I got really interested in photoshop, and specifically applying effects to the different color channels individually. Additionally, I enjoyed sci-fi, and at that time I most enjoyed the stories set so far into the future that the standard way of life in them was almost an incomprehensible abstract concept. The combination of these three influences led me to render a series of images depicting what was intended to be the powerup and activation sequence of an inter-universal portal. The original sequence went and was made by applying various photoshop effects over the initial render: Oh, yeah. I forgot. I was also fascinated with the concept of something glowing black. Also a noticable theme in these images. Anyway, as time passed, thumbnails of became my avatar just about everywhere I used an avatar, and then when mood avatars were introduced here, there were some moods that none of these already-prepared ones were good for, so I went back to and applied even more photoshop filters, leading to the full spectrum currently visible and

All of my avatars are Dodongos from LoZ, except my "screwed", which is a silly smiley I found an iPhone troubleshoot forum.

My avatar changes randomly, but I have an accessible list of them. There actually is a hidden message in some of them, as well as a pattern which flows through them all. It's a secret though which you're welcome to look for.

It is mario from the unnoficial brazilian release boxart of super mario brothers "Super Irmãos", which translates to Super Brothers. This was the only release marketed in Brazil at the time and it looks unsettling to me. Look at that turtle. I don't know if the art was made in Brazil or if it was borrowed from some other place.

A Starman from Earthbound I traced from an ingame sprite eons ago with Flash. I like it, obviously. <- My old avatar, for I've since replaced it. My current avatar is a picture of Pinkie Pie, which I traced much the same way. Current avatar is Fluttershy from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. With sunglasses. (Image link) Lynne, A Targeted Redhead, from Ghost Trick. Sunglasses. (Image link) This is my current set of avatars. I plan to expand it as I think of more characters to add. See if you begin to spot a theme: <A bunch of dead links> From left to right: - Lynne, from Ghost Trick - Fluttershy, from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic - XJ9, from My Life as a Teenage Robot - Mabel Pines, from Gravity Falls - Roll, from Mega Man - Shantae

My avatar is from Mega Man 4 title screen. This is how it originally looked like. I shrunk the original graphics a bit, created a smooth gradient and added a blinking animation. I have no idea why I chose it, other than being a fan of Mega Man NES games back when Mega Man 3 was new. The animation was just something I wanted to do. Later on, when I introduced the concept of mood avatars on this forum, I took a new screenshot from Mega Man 4, this time unscaled, and created a custom program which dynamically changes the palette according to options given in PHP URL parameters. . These appear in my posts today. The different colors were chosen to intuitively reflect the moods present in the post's text. Color of the body, color of the shadow, color of the greebles and color of the ear-interior were all carefully chosen. However, color-to-feeling associations are largely culture dependent, so what is obvious to me is unfortunately much less obvious to others. I have a few other avatars as well, but most are variations on this theme. Some of the others are event-related, such as the Hanukah candelabrum. In my profile appears the current default avatar (not used anywhere else), which is this: [img_left]http://bisqwit.iki.fi/fliers/avatar/owner/glcav.png[/img_left] It is a cropped section of my desktop background picture, which also appears in the beginning of my most recent YouTube videos. I just felt inspired to do it one day. One day I came across Portrait Illustrator Creator, and I experimented with it and created a completely new set of avatars. The new set was based on variations of this picture: , such as: After negative feedback, I discontinued using that set though. It did however resurface two years ago in an April Fools prank on tasvideos, whereupon I used Egypt-based avatars such as these two: . A variation thereof appears currently on my YouTube account.

Mine is the emblem of Theosophy. I like it because blue and orange is my favourite combination of colors and it has many beautiful symbols in it: The Omkar, the Swastika, the Ouroboros, the Magen David and the Ankh. Too bad they didn't include the Taijitu as well... I also like the motto of the Theosophical Society because I don't think we are capable of perceiving absolute truth. We are trapped inside our bodies and can't perceive what they aren't able to perceive, and on another level we are trapped inside our universe, so we can only derive our knowledge based on what's "inside" this universe. There's no contrast. (or maybe it's even worse and you're just a "brain" in a tube and reality is an illusion?) In any case, the eternal truth should be way beyond all of that. Mysticism/Religion is an attempt to uncover that truth (or pretend it has already been uncovered), which I think is nothing but a fool's errand. We have to accept our limits, there are infinitely many things we cannot and will never know. I feel like people who believe in religions are generally in denial about that. (As are some people who overrate what science can do. It cannot uncover the real truth, it can just uncover mechanisms that "work". F.e. if A always triggers B and B triggers Z, then science could conclude that A triggers Z. It'd be a working theory, but it isn't the truth. Or the truth is A=B*C+-D*E+-.... and science finds A=B*C because D*E is so small that it's impossible for now to measure. It means using A=B*C works, but it isn't the truth)

Time to break out the photobucket... Arts and sprites of the Pokémon #162, the furret. A furret fsjal an associate did for me. Sprite rips and animations from the Japan only GBC pet ferret simulator Ferret Monogatari: Watashi No Okini Iri. This particular one is a silver mitt I have named Stuv. The only edits, aside from animation timing, were done to #13 to remove some sweat drops and #202 to color the eyes red. Some photographs taken and shopped by Jeanne Carley. A detail from this picture, drawn by one of the people responsible for the Peach Fuzz trilogy. Hope that covers it...
A hundred years from now, they will gaze upon my work and marvel at my skills but never know my name. And that will be good enough for me.
