Kamek's Revenge v1.96 IPS patch (found it here) I've played the first 3-4 levels, seems like a really impressive hack. I'm not sure if it would be TAS publication worthy, but it's certainly worth a look. Edit: Updated the link to v1.96, which Carl Sagan is currently TASing.

Edit: I've started TASing this game when I get time. Current progress: Finished world 1! Starting 2-1. I did some minor testing in preparation for a Left+Right glitched run, and the best solution I found to get the necessary coins to warp to 6-8 via the glitch was to play all the way through 1-1 and 1-2. For what that's worth.

Hmm, so despite what I said earlier, I am thinking of starting up one of these YI hacks on the side, either 2+2 or KR I believe. There are a few issues I was wondering about. Current YI TAS's use snes9x 1.43 because there is a lot less lag. I was wondering what people's opinions would be for continuing to use 1.43, which, while not accurate of lag on console, allows for a lot more action since I wouldn't have to limit myself to prevent lag. Also, I don't know the specifics, but I hear one level in Kamek's Revenge 100% isn't actually complete? Does anyone know specifics, or if one unfinished extra level would be a big issue? It's 5-E I believe.

According to the hack thread on SMWC, these things still need to be finished: - Finish creating Extra 5 - Scan all of the remaining levels (anything not colored green) for vanishing items, strange palettes, unfair lack of eggs, etc. - Make the credits (?) (I think I'll just leave the original credits, actually) - Finally, do an any% playthrough and a full 100% playthrough for final testing I guess a TAS of this hack isn't such a good idea probably as it is prone to updates.

I wonder if it's still being updated though? It says "YIKR2 is on indefinite hold." I do believe all of the levels are working fine except 5-E, as speedruns of them exist.

I remember glitching myself into 6-E, and after 12 rooms, I got dumped to the sky (like when you level glitch vanilla YI) every time.

Hmm, shall I do 2+2, which is complete and certainly a well-made hack, but maybe not as interesting, or KR? :P I can't decide. Maybe for someone who knows more about roms than I do: If I did start on Kamek's Revenge, and a new version with 5-E was added, would I be able to continue on my video from that version? I have no clue. I did the first two levels of 2+2: 1-1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x173zLmE5z0 1-2 http://youtu.be/ij1f6PUBYhM

The checksum/CRC32 wouldn't match (obviously) but as long as nothing changed besides the addition of 5-E, I see no reason you'd have a problem switching to a new version.

The author will update this or he forget forever? It's possible to do a TAS nevertheless? Maybe I'll try to beat the game for testing glitches.

Looks like you're already somewhat committed, but I just want to say "complete and well-made" trumps all. As I understand it, TASVideos discourages hacks because they can come in many versions, which makes obsoletion difficult to judge. Keep up the good work!

That hasn't been the case for a while; the hack is simply judged along with the submitted run now.

I'm really not already committed. Doing 4 levels of this one was just for fun, as I know someone who had tried TASing it before and thought they might like it if I gave it a try. If a Kamek's TAS without 5-E would be acceptable, I'd certainly consider that.

Would a missing 5-E even matter if you do an any% run?

Actually SDW have 2 TASes published and the bosses are all the sames, So I think it's not a problem.

Nope, but I'd prefer 100%, though it is substantially harder for Kamek's Revenge.

I remember when I was doing my playthrough of Kamek's Revenge, I didn't get 100 on ANY levels, despite trying. Hell, for a few, I had to refer to raocow's Let's Play to figure out what the hell I had to do.

I guess back on the topic of this thread: Kamek's Revenge 1-1 100%: www.youtube.com/watch?v=krXh6IiB-5k Much harder to TAS than 2+2, though it probably doesn't show in this level. Eggs were very scarce, I had to scrape for every egg and star.

That was incredible, I really hope you do a couple more Kamek's Revenge TASes :)
